Chapter 24

Somehow or another the driving didn't phase Amber making their way back as Natalie thought it would but once they arrived at their home it looked untouched but then you could see clothes on the lot and priceless items that shouldn't be there. Natalie didn't understand what Sarah could be doing by taking out everything that Amber has owned for years. Natalie watched as Amber stormed up to the house as Natalie followed behind her as quickly as she could.

"Sarah! Get out of my house!" Amber yelled as loud as she could.

"This is our house and I am not leaving. You want to be with that prissy woman then feel free the divorce files will be sent to you but this is my home and I will find someone more deserving than you." Sarah replied from the upstairs as her voice carried.

"My parents gave me this house, you can't do this to me." Amber responded as she found Sarah digging through more stuff.

"I can and will. You're siblings wouldn't care if I took over since this is where I belong." Sarah replied looking over her shoulder at Amber.

Natalie felt their was no need to stay and listen to them fight as she went to go take care of the horses that have become her everything since being here. She didn't understand why Sarah would do this to Amber but she knew how Sarah could manipulate people too. Natalie felt a hand go into hers as she felt Amber turn her around.

"I lost my home to her, the only home I ever knew. So, it looks like we are on the streets because I have no other place to go." Amber said with sadness in her voice.

"We can go to a shelter for now, I am sure we can get this house back. It is a home that your parents left for you. Sarah will not win this battle completely." Natalie replied squeezing Amber's hand.

"Weren't you a lawyer before coming out here?" Amber asked.

"No, but I know plenty in New York who could get me one out here." Natalie replied.

It took consideration but Amber did agree as they both got into the car and drove off to find shelter in the area besides hotels because you can only stay for so long with some budget though Amber has enough it isn't wise to live in hotels. Natalie knew at this point that they could travel to see Sheila and Dana with the kids until they could win their home back from Sarah. San Antonio took a good chunk of the drive plus finding the house but they made it by afternoon and were able to spend time with everyone before they both were able to share a bed with making themselves feel at home as best they could.

Natalie got up early as she felt Amber had already gone downstairs for the morning with a smell of brewed coffee. Making her way downstairs feeling groggy and stretching her joints. Natalie gave Amber a kiss as they met in the kitchen then grabbed a cup of coffee to get herself woken up.

"I am guessing they are still sleeping?" Natalie asked.

"Sheila is off to work and Dana is hustling the kids for babysitters so they can be off to school soon enough." Amber replied sipping her coffee.

"Did either of them have an answer on getting a lawyer? I can call those that I knew but if they know a source it would be helpful." Natalie asked again with a curious expression.

"Neither of them knew, let alone couldn't figure out how Sarah got away with that and passed the system." Amber answered as she looked out the window.

"I know this sounds wrong but we could give Sarah that place and make a new home out here to be with Sheila and Dana to know their relationship more?" Natalie suggested.

"I have considered it more in the country than where I was but I will still have to let my siblings know that she took everything with the divorce." Amber replied with sorrow in her face and a heavy sigh leaving her lips.

Natalie knew this would be hard on Amber losing everything that she has in the house due to a mutual agreement in the divorce that she didn't even know she signed after Sarah faked her death. It had turned everything around. Technically Amber had been divorced for so long that she didn't even know it and it tore Amber up when she found the records.

"Darlin' don't worry about it. Home is where the heart is and that is with you more than Sarah. I may not have my parents home but I have you." Amber said with sincerity.

"For a woman that wasn't so positive all those months ago, you sure are now and have the brightest smile in the whole world." Natalie replied with her own smile.

"Medication does wonders it seems but I am weaning off of them since she isn't dead and has divorced me without my awareness. I am not mad at the world or anyone else. Sarah may have destroyed me mentally and physically at one point but she can't anymore and I am happy wherever this goes." Amber responded, still sipping her coffee and gazing out the window.

Natalie didn't think that Amber should take herself off the medication quite yet due to everything Sarah has done and Amber could relapse. It worried Natalie more than anything that Amber could easily drop her like her ex-husband did. Natalie went to the table, sitting there with her thoughts, and taking in her coffee slowly. The silence stilled the room as neither of them spoke anymore about the situation though with the house now silenced with no kids, Dana and Sheila out doing their jobs it was left to them. Natalie couldn't bring herself to do more than to search Sheila's books and read them to pass the time as Amber did who knows what but they weren't up each other's asses.
