Chapter 25

I couldn't believe Natalie left. Journey surprisingly came into the driveway it felt like High School all over again. This didn't feel right having Journey show up unannounced not that I have been near the phone lately with Sheila gone and now Natalie too. Journey Harper has always been full of life even when we dated back in High School until Sarah destroyed it to have me. It took me several years to get over the fact that Sarah had ruined my love life but she ended up being all I had left.

"Hey Amber, it is so good to see you. Where is your new woman? Everybody in town is talking about this new city woman who appeared in your life after Sarah died though I got news that you aren't going to believe. And I thought you took that ring off after she died?" Journey asked away in questions.

"Howdy Journey, you too. Natalie and I had fought over the ring because I wanted to feel Sarah close to me again. And what type of news?" I asked unsure where this is going to go.

"Sarah is alive. She has a small house back behind your house to watch you. She has an eye on Natalie waiting for her to actually leave you." Journey replied, waiting with baited breath for Amber's answer.

I thought all along that Natalie was seeing things but she wasn't and now that she is gone again this could get bad. I gave Journey a tight hug and that is when the door flew open to reveal Natalie pissed off for her assumption that I would cheat on her though that is so far fetched, a hug is a hug. I watched as Natalie went to the porch, the most gorgeous city woman actually thinks I went back to my High School sweetheart.

"That redheaded woman has a fuse for a simple hug. I am guessing that is Natalie?" Journey said.

"That is my woman but I hate to push her away all over her being jealous of something that isn't happening." I replied, feeling my guts ready to burst, she is hot when jealous though.

"Tell her that I am staying here and I am letting you keep the ring on. She leaves then we can see what actually happens to her." Journey responded.

"I can't do that to her. I love her too much." I replied, biting my lip.

I felt this was the only way to see what happens though I knew the outcome that Natalie would leave so I would have to chase after her. I grabbed Journey by the hand though it felt so clammy and warm not like Natalie's. Got outside on the porch telling Natalie exactly what Journey told me and sure enough, she left the porch headed to her car as me and Journey made our way back inside. That is when I rushed to the kitchen window watching Natalie leave the driveway. My heart literally sank after I did that to her. Journey came up behind me, startling me as she whispered into my ear.

"Time to let her go. I came back for you. I am still in love with you, Sarah or Natalie can't come between us."

I pushed her off of me then spoke the words I never thought I would say to her.

"Journey, we aren't in high school anymore. We are only friends. I love Natalie and Sarah can be dead or alive, I don't want her back for not trusting me. Go back to wherever the hell you came from and stay away from me and Natalie!" I replied with frustration.

I watched Journey leave by slamming the front door. I decided to go upstairs and lay down in my bedroom. I have missed Natalie for more than a few hours now and it is hurting me. Before I finally drifted off to sleep the house doorbell rang through my skull like an alarm clock. I got up from the bed slowly placing my pants back on then made my way downstairs to see some figure in the window with the curtain covering whomever it is. I turned on the porch light, unlocked the door and found some gentleman dressed in a Taxi suit.

"Hi, I am sorry it is late for disturbing you but I was looking for Natalie, is she here?" He asked nervously.

"No, she isn't sir. I am however her girlfriend is their something wrong?" I asked with a shaky voice.

"I have a paper here with her name on it and I wanted to make sure she got it. It's an important document that will make her whole world. I hope you can give it to her." He replied with a genuine smile.

"Yes, I can. Can you take me to her though? I believe I know where she is but I don't want to take my truck knowing it could break down." I responded slightly smiling back.

"Of course, how far is she?" He replied.

"My guess is two hours at one of the hotel's in the next town." I responded.

"Get something on your feet and let's go." He replied wiggling his keys.

I ran upstairs, got my socks and boots on as quickly as I could then made my way downstairs, grabbed the house keys and locked the door. As I ran down the driveway to the Taxi waiting on me, I stopped a moment and saw her following me. No, fucking way is Sarah following me to Natalie this can't be right. I ran faster then slid down my driveway as I reached the cab door and begged the driver to go as fast as he could. I was hoping that I have only seen things because their is no way in hell, Sarah is getting Natalie that is when it dawned on me, she could already be there and that was a stand in. I cursed so much under my breath as we went flying down the road at top speed. The taxi driver knew it was urgent when he went down the winding roads at 80+ miles per hour. I held my breath with hopes that Natalie would be okay by morning light even if it meant sleeping in her car, I needed Natalie to be okay.
