Mom and her cooking dream

So I finished telling my mom everything that happened and she was quite proud that I had already started fitting in with people especially since their not from our country. She also told me that me that she met some of the neighbors and that one of them, whose family name were the Briggs, told me that their familiar were quite except that their dad was a navy general and the mom was a professional chef. The kids however were exactly Kane and I age mates. The girl funny enough was also in U of T and the guy was also in my school.

″I'm going to their house this weekend for their mom o teach me some new recipes, so will you join me, maybe you find interest in the boy? said mom wriggling her eyebrows at me. I know where she's taking this too and it's not going to work. Ever since I became teenager, my mom always thought I would take interest in relationships just like other girls. But sorry for her I wasn't part of such girls. I wasn't a tomboy either, I just really take that much interest in guys. I already had one who had been bugging me for the rest of my life, why would I even want to start dating now. Yeah, I know I'm 17 for Christ sake, let me live my life alone a little...shish.

″Besides, the young man plays basketball as well, you might take an interest in him″ Did I hear well or was my mom just speaking in tongues? did she just say he plays basketball as well?

" I think I might consider″ saying with interest in meeting this so called young man she speaks of. " Great! we leave at dawn on Saturday.″ Gosh! I knew I shouldn't have agreed.

I left my mom in the living who was now watching food network. She wanted to become a caterer here since she will be cooking our local dishes for customers. I think that's why she wants to learn more on how Americans eat and wants to introduce them to the world of the almighty West African delicacies. The program that was on right now that she was watching was The Gordon Ramsey show.

″ This squid is so raw, it's still complaining of sponge bob″ he said talking to one of the cooks on the T.V. Shish... I hate to be that guy. Can you believe that any restaurant the guy goes to must always shut down! just because it doesn't meet up to his standards. No wonder he's the greatest chef.

Anyways, I went straight into room and entered. My room wasn't all that girly but I loved it with everything in my life. My room was quite large though. My bed was a queen sized bed with had Micheal Jordan bed sheets and pillows which was pushed to the side of the room. My desk which had my Macbook pro air with my beats headphones and beats pills. I had an iPad in which I used to practice my interior design and 3D modelling. I had a bookshelf full of different novels. Some were Harry potter, Sherlock Holmes, Hunger games and some horror/sci-fi books. Yeah I'm a nerd too but that doesn't mean anyone can do any shit to me. The side desk I had was having my bible and my little Baymax lamp which was turned on or when touched. I also a 14 inch TV which I used to binge my Netflix and NBA matches. The walls of room was covered mostly with posters of basketball and bible quotes with of course a shelf of all my awards I had earned back in Nigeria. Both academically and in basketball. I got MVP twice back in my former school.

So I laid down and put my headphones on and started listening to one of my favorite Beyonce songs which was Power. The song always made feel safe, strong and proud of who I am. The song had started and went straight to sinking into music and started feeling the beat of the song.

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They feel a way, oh wow (buma-bumayaye)

They feel a way, oh wow (buma-bumayaye)

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They feel a way, oh wow (buma-bumayaye)

They feel a way, oh wow (buma-bumayaye)

I was always in the lead

Where you wanna be, I'm who they wanna be

B-E-A-U-T-Y, he never seen so much rage from a queen

Rage from a queen, queen so strong, thought she was a machine

Girl of your dreams, Sinclair regime

Turned to the max, can't forget Maxine

Refer to me as a goddess, I'm tired of being modest

A hundred degrees, the hottest, if we being honest

Ebony and ebonics, black people win

They say we bein' demonic, angel in disguise

I hate I have to disguise it, why you gotta despise it?

Rich in the mind, that's why I'm making deposits

Can't we all empower? It's time to realize it

(They'll never, ever take my power)

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They feel a way, oh wow

They feel a way, oh wow

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They feel a way (hold up), oh wow (wow, wow, wow)

They feel a way (woo), oh wow (wow, wow, wow)

Then my favorite part started and I just started dancing. It's been long since I danced. I didn't really like dancing in public but I knew I was good.

This that rhythm, this that lightning

This that burn, this ain't no perm

This that nappy, this that urb'

This that kinfolk, this that skinfolk

This that war, this that bloodline

On the front line, ready for war, where you gon' run?

Get loose, get loose, get low, get low

Why you get loose, get loose, get low, get low

Oh, gotta protect my braids

Keep it locked in a safe

Don't make me get back to my ways

My power, they'll never take, ah

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They feel a way, oh wow (wow, wow, wow, wow)

They feel a way (woo), oh wow (wow, wow)

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They'll never take my power, my power, my power

They feel a way, oh wow (wow, wow)

They feel a way, oh wow (wow, wow)

I started imitating one of the best singers in Nigeria which was Yemi Alade. I really loved she danced and I admired her pretty much.

Woza, they no fit shake am oh

Lie lie

You no fit touch am oh (woza, woza)

I think that means "Let's go, " so woza

Boom, boom, check you later

I roll with the danger

Andoyiki, nenja

Mina ndiyi-Ninja

Boom, boom, check you later

I roll with the danger

Andoyiki, nenja

Mina ndiyi-Ninja

Woza.

As I had finished dancing and put my headphones, I heard a voice from behind me.

''Your mom told me you loved basketball but she never told me you were a dancer''. the deep male voice said with surprise and amazement.

''Who the heck are you?'' I said angrily but as I turned around to see who it was, I started to blush immediately.

'' Hello there?'' I said feeling shy of myself. I think this was the guy mom was telling about. I really hope he's the one cause damn he looks hot.wait did I say he's hot, what's wrong with me?.
