Chapter 231- Encounter between father and son
He had seen how the fire had grown bigger with every passing second.
"Quickly step aside a bit. I will throw this!" Zain shouted a helicopter hovered near her pod.
The wind was fierce and colder.
As soon she opened the door, it swung due to the fierce wind when she heard Zain's voice.
"Yes!" Rizi responded loudly. She held Leo tightly.
"I am attaching life jackets with the rope!" Zain shouted as swung rope and threw it in such a way that it landed inside her pod as she had kept the door open.
Rizi quickly caught hold of the rope before it could slip away.
She opened the jacket and made Leo wear it carefully. Leo kept his eyes closed all this while as Rizi instructed.
She wore one life jacket herself and fastened the rope around her and Leo.
She removed her woollen scarf and wrapped it around Leo's neck and covered him till his nose was tucked in only eyes visible.
Then, she wrapped Leo's leg around her waist, "hold tight Leo!" Then she again wrapped and tied the rope around both of them tightly.
Once she was ready with Leo she gave a thumbs-up to Zain.
Zain nodded at her signal and the helicopter moved up and hovered.
"Jump!" Zain gave a loud shout in her direction.
"Hold tight Leo! We are going to fly! Just take a deep breath, ok?" Rizi whispered to Leo and later nodded and held her tight.
He tucked his face in her neck with eyes tightly shut.
Rizi took a deep breath and moved out the door as she jumped from the pod.
Zain instructed the pilot to hover carefully and slowly Rizi got suspended beneath the helicopter tied with a rope.
It was a swift move and they didn't sway that much. As the fire grew fiercer, Rizi observed a few more helicopters come to rescue other riders.
Zain instructed Pilot to move away from the fire because the Ferris wheel was swinging wildly now and it could fall apart anytime now.
As they were at some distance, Zain rotated the rope wheel pulley such that it started pulling upwards.
The helicopter was at a steady speed and hence slowly the rope got pulled upwards.
When he saw Rizi was near, Zain held out her hand.
Rizi caught hold of his hand and Zain carefully pulled both of them inside the helicopter easily.
He pulled both of them into a tight embrace and muttered, "Thank god!"
Rizi was breathing hard. Zain helped her settle in the seat and close the door as the weather was cold.
He pressed one button and the temperature turned a bit warm inside the helicopter.
Rizi took a few minutes to regulate her breathing and caressed Leo who had his arms around her neck in a tight grip.
"Baby, see we are safe now!"
Leo shook his head. Rizi felt wetness on her neck and her eyes welled up in tears. "Shh. My baby! See we are safe and sound. You are so strong! You did well, baby. See you protected mama as well! My little hero!! Everything is ok now!"
Rizi continued to whisper in his ears lovingly. After a couple of minutes of consoling, Leo slowly released his grip and turned around.
Rizi pulled the scarf down from his nose. Leo observed the surroundings and when he realised they are indeed safe and in helicopter, his body relaxed in his mother's arms.
He scanned the interior of helicopter and his eyes caught the unexpected figure seated in opposite to them.
Same eyes and same facial features!
Leo knew the man seated right in front of him was none other than Zain Bennetti!
His father!
Zain stared at how Rizi consoled Leo and felt so proud of her.
She never cease to amaze him!
He observed the tiny human slowly turn around and the same set of green eyes stared at him.
Zain felt his heart pounding hard in his rib cage.
He had talked to him a lot but as a donor. Right now seated in front of him made his knees go weak.
What was this feeling?
He was nervous?
Damn!
He was indeed nervous in front of his son!
He was under the impression that Leo is not aware of their relationship and that made him panicked more.
Rizi observed two of them. Two figure with similar set of facial features staring at each other.
Leo's gaze held coldness while Zain's gaze held warmth and nervousness.
They both stared at each other and her mind recalled Leo's words right before the ride broke.
Her eyes widened as she realized Leo was aware of who his father is!
But how and since when? She will ask him later on.
But at the same time, Zain was not aware that Leo already knows his relationships with him.
Leo turned to look at his mother in question.
To ease the further awkwardness, Rizi told him the truth, "He saved us!"
Leo raised his brows and turned towards Zain while throwing a courteous nod, "Thank you for saving us, Uncle!"
