Chapter 240- their traitorous heart

Zain held his breath as Rizi snuggled deeper into his embrace.

He couldn't help but whisper, "Rizelle, are you awake?"

"Mhm.."

Zain halted his footstep and looked down at her. Rizi's eyes slowly fluttered open.

Thump! Thump! Thump!

His heartbeat accelerated. He was startled for a minute like a thief getting caught; at the thought of her being mad at him for carrying her without her permission.

But her expression was normal. Zain sighed as he realised she was not mad at him.

Zain didn't want to put her down and Rizi didn't protest.

Taking her silence as confirmation, he slowly climb the stairs as wished for this moment to last longer.

His traitor heart!!

"Mission went well?" Rizi asked softly. She was already up when he carried her.

Based on his scent alone, she immediately recognised him and she was always a light sleeper to begin width.

Her mind reminisced their past whereby how she had deliberately faked a sleep only for him to carry her like this. Although most of the time, he knew she was faking it.

Similarly, he carried her, with the same gentleness and care. At that moment her heart swayed and her selfish side decided to bask in the warmth.

But now when he asked if she is awake, Rizi knew she could not fake it any longer.

The selfish side of her wanted to relax like this!

What was happening to her? She had so much conflicted and mixed feelings about this.

"Si!" Zain's heart swelled as he reminisced their old times and how she used to fake her sleep and he loved to carry her.

"You didn't have to go by yourself for this. You have plenty of capable men. Even sending Ace and Anthony was more than enough!"

"I nearly lost you both today! I couldn't allow them to get away with it. This doesn't count as a fraction of what they owe me now." Zain answered with a slight edge to his voice and Rizi felt his expression darken.

"Hmm." Rizi sighed and didn't question anything further.

"Sorry, Don't worry! It went well. We have collected their belongings. Ace will bring it to the basement underground office. You can check it out tomorrow. It might help with the lead to find your mother.." Zain answered in a soft voice.

His heart was thudding like anything right now.

This felt so normal! So normal like their old times! As if they are doing this for many years!

He slowed down his pace to cherish this feeling between them as long as it lasts!

But every journey has an end and now he stood in front of the door of the guest room belonging to Leo and Rizi.

When he reached for the doorknob and before he could turn it around, Rizi uttered, "let's go to the pool!"

It was not a request but a command!

Rizi observed Zain's reaction. The slight tremble of his fingers! His sped-up heartbeat! Also right now how his heart skipped a beat!

She felt his all intense emotions everything to her bones!

This spark between them was growing at a tremendous rate!

It amused her but at the same time, she knew she was affected.

Without questioning back, Zain turned around and silently carried her towards the pool. It was on the same floor at the end of the corridor. Rizi was aware of the pool location due to their past.

Zain slightly kicked the balcony door open and the cold air greeted them!

He immediately cursed under his breath as they forgot the weather was colder now.

Rizi shivered in his arms.

Zain swiftly placed Rizi on the nearest sun bed, and said, "Please wait for a minute!"

He immediately left the balcony and came back minutes later with a warm blanket.

He covered her with a blanket and then proceeded to light the logs of wood in the fire pit. It was inbuilt in the centre and several sun beds were placed next to each other in a circular manner next to the pool.

The last time he visited this area was almost 7 years back when they had barbeque here along with Rizi.

The butler and housekeeper have maintained the area and also a bed of flowers was implanted oh which he had no idea about.

Soon the crackle of wood and the heat emanated from it enveloped the surrounding in its warmth.
