The Woman in Indigo never thought about superstition, at least not until she heard news about the force that ripped through the highway on route to Jakarta.
The village she lived in had felt that force, although it wasn't as heavy as it was there. It was however, enough to raise her concerns.
Even more so on one particular day, where she had just finished eating her home made fried rice. She went over to the sink and got herself ready with a soap filled sponge, ready to clean her plate. Turning the handle to the tap water, A snake slithered out of its hole instead of water, and she screamed at the top of her lungs.
This was not her imagination, as a villager lended his time to dismantle the pipes of her ink and get the snake out.
The next day, she started cleaning the plates even more quicker than usual. The water was running normally, but she didn't want to risk it, so she swiftly turned it off.
A knock came from the cupboard. She eyed it for sometime, before she began to move away from the kitchen.
But the knocking was louder, almost violent, almost as if someone was trying to force themselves out. No, she thought again, can't be someone. Something! But what.
As she was shaking she began to approach the cupboard and her hand was on the the handle. She pulled it slowly, before it barged open wildly. Rats came out of the cupboard and they fall fell to the ground like a waterfall. They squeaked loudly and they ran swiftly out of the kitchen. The woman didn't remember if she had open the windows like she always does for fresh air, otherwise it would have been the perfect escape for the furry disgusting creatures.
She screamed at the top of her lungs, and went on a chair. Some of the rats ran past the leg of the chair. The volume of their numbers shook her to the core, and she fell onto the floor, back hitting the marble first. She yelped in pain, as she heard laughter and clapping. Opening her eyes, the rats were gone. Vanished.
"What a spectacle!" said one voice.
"Do it again!" said another, the woman turned to the lamp above the table to see three spiders on top. They were as big as a human palm.
The woman screamed again, and she brought herself out of the kitchen, eventually out of her home.
"Well that was funny." said the third spider.
"Master Nimble sure does know how to put on a good show!" said the first spider.
