Hello!

New year.

New Beginning.

Everyone is delighted to look back on what happened on the year whether it is a good or bad experience. If it is good, we are thankful. But if somehow, we encountered bad and hurtful experiences, we look back and think of it as a lesson and then we would be thankful.

We hope that the coming year will be a better one, thus, we welcome it with delight and many promises to ourselves which we keep doing for the last nth year.

Our New year party was a little sad this year. We usually celebrate it here in Manila with mom's siblings and family, but this time, they were not complete. Also, mom is having this flu like sickness which keeps her in bed and in bad mood.

In the afternoon of January 1, 2020 we rushed her in the hospital since she's not recovering and keeps getting worse. Mom does not have health insurance or medical insurance, she has only Philhealth (government mandated health benefits) which keeps me worried financially since I know when it comes to medical bills, it can help but there will still be a large bill left to pay.

She stayed in the hospital for 4 days, and voila! The bill is as expected but I am still in shock with the large amount left to be paid.

The lesson here is to never underestimate the power and miracles of HMO and Life Insurances, you may not need it know but for sure when you needed it the most, it will help you not to go bankrupt. I always emphasize this to mom but she just don't listen.

Time and time again, it proves how costly it is getting sick and i just don't understand why most are still not getting insured. It is a good thing to take care of one's health, but, uncertainty and risk in life always exist.

My dad, before he died he was in a critical condition and was hospitalized. I know the horror of having no money and begging relatives just to prolong or save his life. I know how awful it is to have debt for a long period of time. So yes, always consider and prepare for everything. Positive outlook is good, but practically speaking, money is the most used tool in the world.

It keep me thinking that for the past months, everything felt surreal, like everything is going my way, and never would I have thought that it is preparing us for something worst.

And just like that, I welcomed 2020!
