Chuckling darkly she grinned a wicked smile at the angels but more specifically at Nrven. For he was their leader who was leading them astray from the path of a true angel.
They were not created to envy others but to focus on themselves and what their goodness was contributing.
"What are you laughing at you barbarian!" A male angel known as Demetrius shouted as he flew above her head.
Looking at him she spoke to him but her words applied to all of them "truthfully, I find it hilarious that all you pure hearted angels are acting like the humans down on earth that the Creator detests so much. Did you buffoons forget that the Creator sees all? Huh.. oh you've all gone so quiet now haven't you."
Silence ensured as they all realised their mistake, they knew there was no way the Creator hadn't just witnessed the chaos they had caused.
Incredibly, they didn't blame themselves this time, rather they placed the blame upon Nrven for causing them to retaliate against Death, if it wasn't for him speaking to her then they wouldn't have gotten involved.
Like a swarm of birds they all swarmed together before flying off into the distance leaving behind a baffled Nrven.
Witnessing the shock and betrayal on his face Death walked closer to him so that she could whisper into his ear "I may be younger than you but I am far more superior, do not think me weak and clueless like your angels Nrven. For I am Death and Death cannot and will not be locked away."
There was no more to be said, strutting away she left a startled Nrven standing alone.
~
Many millenniums have past since Death was amongst the angels in the clouds.
Now she was below the earths crust in her own hidden kingdom, it was here she stored away the souls of the dead.
There was no life after death but mysteriously they were at peace, their souls were contained in jars where they remained in a comfortable eternal sleep.
No more suffering, no more worrying, just a tranquility that one could never achieve when living.
Since death had reigned the humans were now more stable than ever, don't get her wrong there were always humans who didn't live a virtues and harmonious life yet remarkably the humans dealt with the individuals in a marvellous way that restored the peace.
She couldn't have been more proud of them, so much time had passed that the humans didn't even realise that they were once immortal.
The angels were still cursing her in their kingdom of light, happily they even swooped down to earth in disguise to spread vile rumours about her to the humans that she was a devil. A killer of man.
It was crazy how they twisted the truth to suit them best, it did hurt her to see how egar they were to show their dislike but she made sure to not allow it to show.
Inside her castle of darkness she sat on her throne while her servants of darkness scurried around cleaning the rooms and making sure the souls are stored away correctly.
The day was a day like any other, sat on her throne she overlooked the workers, making sure to avoid any disasters that nearly came her way.
Luckily, nothing serious has happened lately as the workers have all fitted into a secure routine, they are the best thing that has ever happened to her.
A gift from the Creator, a gift she cherishes dearly.
All of her servants of darkness were very content in living their lives with her. Miraculously, they were once humans that had been abused and given no chance at life.
Noticing they had never had a fair chance to live she spared them, allowing them to work for her in her cozy castle where they were allowed a good room, to eat the finest food, to socialise, to love and just enjoy a second chance.
They were genetically enhanced humans so that they could withstand the scorching heat of being under the earth's crust but they were not immortal, this was a rule she and the Creator had instantly agreed upon. Immortality drove the humans crazy so never again would they allow it.
Having enough of sitting stiffly on her throne she walked outside to peer at her landscape. It was like living in a cave down here, the only light was from the rivers of lava that scorched the floor. It didn't burn her skin from her bones, soothingly, it felt like a relaxing hot bath.
Down here there was no bugs or insects or even trees, just a derelict land of nothing.
It was quite sad really, since even in heaven they had the garden of paradise that held birds and insects.
That was one of the things she missed the most, the distant sound of the bees buzzing and the birds chirping happily inside the trees they had created a nest in.
Lost in her moment of reminiscing she didn't realise an unexpected guest had arrived.
For a moment she thought she was imagining the distant flapping of wings and the ruffling of feathers. Surprisingly, it wasn't her mind fooling her.
She didn't move from her position, she wanted the unexpected guest to walk towards her. Gone were the days she tried to talk to them, today they would approach her.
As she expected they made their way towards her, she even felt their warmth brush against hers as they positioned themselves next to her, overlooking the land the visitor hummed.
"Wow.. I never thought I would see the wasteland of under earth, I feel rather claustrophobic down here." Rolling her eyes at his words she shrugged her shoulders in a carefree manner.
"If that's what you think then you are more than welcome to return to the clouds, aren't you angels more suited to the open sky where you can spread your large fluffy wings Nrven?"
The breeze that blew their way was hot, Nrven visibly clenched up in discomfort as he was so used to the crisp refreshing breeze of up above.
"Trust me Death, I wouldn't be down here unless I had to be. I still haven't forgiven you for killing my humans." Pain drenched his words.
It was clear that he hasn't healed over the years, she could emphasis with him that yes she was killing the humans but it was greatly needed. She thought he would realise that now as it had been eons since she started performing her role as death.
Death shook her head in disappointment "It's fascinating how you haven't realised by now, I am needed. Death is a natural part of human life now, the sooner you accept this the sooner you can live a happy eternity."
