apocalyptic
adjective
describing or prophesying the complete destruction of the world.
The silence left her ears. Lucky could barely hear her own heart over the sound of fear. She brought her knees to her chest, hugging her form tightly. Raven and Harry lifted back the mattress peeking through, watching the world before them. The sky was turning grey, losing its colour.
Dark clouds were rolling over, black as coal. The same colour they would turn when there'd be a huge storm. Storms where everyone went inside and bunkered down for the night, where they tried to ignore the raging demon outside their window and pray for it to pass without cutting out the power.
That's how Lucky felt right then and there. She felt like the same little girl who was on the couch in the lounge room. The little girl who wanted her mother by her side, the mother travelling through the rough storm. She could hear the thunder and lightning returning to her ears. Her eyes watering, just like the rain that would batter her houses windows.
She heard her father on the phone in the kitchen, talking to her mother.
"Be careful Adonna"
He would say. She could hear the desperation in his voice. He was praying his wife to come home safe and sound. That their world would return to normal. Lucky prayed for it, but she had a feeling it wouldn't happen.
"My Lucky Clover!"
Is what she would call her. Lucky Clover had been a nickname given to her by her family; it was what she was called- but her friends shortened it to Lucky. Lucky breathed out slowly. She sighed. The beating of her heard resonated through her chest, making her arms spasm with the rhythm of its beat.
Spartan sat down next to her, Lucky's head leaned over and resting on his arm. Celia and Bella on the other side of him. Darcy walked around the room, anxiously watching the door. She began biting her fingers, Bella's knee jittering- jumping up and down. Celia began to chew her lips, a bad habit- but it helped keep her calm under stressful situations.
Celia sniffed; her pyjamas cold. Celia's long black songs were pulled up as high as they could go, barely reaching underneath her three-quarter paints. Celia had a simple white shirt hanging off her body, she sniffed. Raven pushed his end of the mattress back.
He turned and clapped his hands.
"Okay!" he shouted, making everyone in the room jump in fright. "We're gonna need to head out and check out what's going on" Raven ordered quietly. Bella's face dropped.
"Are you kidding me!? We don't know what's going on out there, leaving this room would be suicide!"
"But we need to get food and supplies…" Lucky murmured, "We need to stock up in case we won't be able to leave the room for a long time"
"I agree!" Celia said, clenching her fists standing up. She could feel the heaviness in her legs set it, the familiar feeling of numbness in her arms. She breathed out.
"Alright, Harry, Lucky, Celia. You're with me. Everyone else stay here and be prepared to barricade this door and wait for us till we get back"
"Hold on," Bella waved her arms, "How do we know it's you and not whatever's out there?"
"Um, we'll knock three times?"
"Yeah, just let a monster bang on the door three times and we'll let in our coffins as well" Darcy replied. Harry thought for a moment.
"What if they slip a piece of paper under the door? One that had a specific message on it, so we knew it was them!"
"Where are we gonna get paper?"
"From out there," Lucky commented, turning to face the door. Raven nodded.
"Okay, so it's settled then," Raven breathed out, "Lucky, Harry, Celia and I will head out to get supplies. We'll try and find some paper and write something on it to let you know it's us"
Bella and Celia grabbed their backpacks, they were already fairly empty- but they sprawled the remnants of what was inside onto Bella's bed. Lucky and Celia pulled on the backpacks. Celia grabbed her ugg boots pulling them on, along with grabbing her thick beige sweater. Lucky grabbed her snow boots, and a scarf. Raven and Harry looked at each other.
"We'll make a quick stop at our part of the cabin, grab our bags and come back" Raven sighed. Spartan and the girls moving the bunk bed ever so slightly away from the door.
Raven and Harry slipped through. It was quiet for a long time. Silence filling the room completely. The door still open ajar as they awaited Raven and Harry to come back. Then they heard the thunderous footsteps and the rolling of bags.
"Hurry up and open the damn door!" Harry yelled. Spartan pulled with all his might and moved the bed further away. The door crashing open and Harry and Raven fell through. They managed to grab Sparty's bags with them.
"What the hell was out there?" Sparty asked in concern, slowly closing the door.
"Frostbite!" Harry answered and Sparty frowned.
"Really!?"
Sparty sighed as he watched Raven and Harry put on their shoes and jackets. Spartan opened the door. It opened with a creak. Raven slipping through first, Harry following. Lucky went next and Celia gulped, before she followed. She watched the door close behind her frame; she closed her eyes. The small group of four began their trek into the unfamiliar world they once knew.
Celia gulped as the door to their cabin opened, the morning air was cold against her face. The morning was still dark, barely being able to see. Maybe they should have brought a flashlight? Celia's ugg boots made her footsteps sound light, Lucky gulped. They began following the paved path.
Lucky rubbed her arms. The air biting her skin, she breathed out. Her breath dancing in the air in a white haze. Lucky could feel goose bumps crawling along her skin. The sun over the bare horizon. How alone were they? Tucked away from society, with barely any mobile reception.
Mobile reception…
Mobile reception!
Her phone! She needed to get her phone!
As they approached the main hall, Celia's ears picked up the sound of bushes rustling, she turned and looked back. Gulping. She skidded a few steps away and ran up the stairs. Celia looked back, her short curly hair flying with her head's movements. Lucky followed, also looking around cautiously. Harry and Raven walked around the other side of the building, taking the common room.
Celia and Lucky were going to scavenge around the kitchen and dining room.

The door to dining creaked in an eerie silence. Lucky poked her head in, looking around the dark room. There seemed to be nothing… she sighed. Okay… she stalked forward, stepping on something. She furrowed her brows and looked down. It was a cricket bat, but why was it left here?
Lucky and Celia looked at each other, both shrugging both stalking forwards. Lucky held the bat at the ready, her eyes stalking the room. The floorboards under Lucky's boots creaked out in agony from the weight. Her lips pursed into a thin line, she breathed out slowly.
She wondered about the others… where were they? Were they all still hiding away in lock down? Or maybe something got to them first. Lucky hated to admit it, but anxiety was crawling down her arms. She breathed out slowly. Relax…
She heard something drop in the kitchen. Lucky's head snapped to the sound; Celia's eyes went wide.
"Stay here and keep looking around, fill the bags with what you can" Lucky whispered, passing her bag to Celia- who nodded in return. The two females went their separate ways, Lucky slowly opening the door to the kitchen.
She looked to the ground and saw a large pot. Resting on the floor. Its metal showed her reflection as she stared down at it, the morphed replication of her image stared back at her. She heard something smash from across the room, Lucky dropped to the floor. Crawling behind a line of counters. Her eyes peeked around the side and she saw it. Some crazed mongrel looking animal. It looked like a dog, though the canines it had for teeth looked like it belonged in a wolf. The scruff of it's neck was frazzled up, it's tail had been completely ripped off, blood- the colour of garnet and merlot red mixed together- though a better way to describe it was if someone held normal human blood poured brown and black food dye into it. Followed with clumps of something to make it lumpy.
Lucky felt her stomach weaken at the sight of the creature. It looked so… tortured and broken. Like there was nothing left of it and its mind had finally broken free of reality and it was just a living corpse. There was nothing left behind its eyes, no emotion, no fear, no hunger. Just blood lust. A cold aggression where it'd snap at any moment and kill with no reason, no thought behind it all.
Lucky gripped her bat tightly as she could almost feel the monster turn around and start stalking towards her. It's paws lashed at her skin with each step it took, she could almost feel it's tangled breath spike into the back of her neck.
She drily swallowed, fear coating her veins. She could just about feel the animal's teeth ripping into her as it approached closer and closer, then it turned and walked across the other side of the cabinet. It sniffed the air, growling.
Lucky breathed out and went to move, but as she lifted herself up- her bat dropped out of her shaky hands. It made a large thud as it hit the floor, Lucky cursed mentally. She heard the animals neck snap, a loud growl emitting through the air. Lucky grabbed her bat and heard something leap onto the cabinet. Bowls and cutlery flung every, making loud clangs as they fell to the floor. Lucky spun around quickly, bat in hand. The weapon collided with the animal's skull; a loud crack sounded it. The animal flung off the cabinet and Lucky ran around the other side. She ran past it and ran to the door. She flung the door open and slammed it behind her.
She pushed all her weight onto it and watched it in caution. Her breathing was harsh and spontaneous. She looked up with wide eyes, she heard footsteps and saw Celia- two full bags in her hands.
"We need to get back to the room, now!" Lucky breathed out in a rush. Celia furrowed her brows.
"What, why? What's going on? What happened in there!?"
"No time to explain, we need to get back!" Lucky shouted, grabbing a backpack from Celia and pulling it on. Celia followed her friend in concern. Lucky seemed irrational. Celia followed silently, the two females walking across the dining room and to the door that headed into another hall that led to the common room. Lucky opened the door and it creaked, loud and long. She breathed out and Celia passed her. Walking into the room.
Lucky closed the door and the two were walking again. Everything seemed quiet, even their footsteps were muffled by the carpet below. Celia looked back, her large thick beige sweater keeping her warm. She pulled the sleeves down, covering her wrists- she turned and began following Lucky again.
Something didn't seem right about the kitchen. Especially the way Lucky had left it on such short notice. Celia hugged her arms, running after Lucky. The girls stopped in front of a glass door, Lucky grabbed the handle and gave it a swift yank. It didn't move. She tried it again and again, only for it to keep pulling, not budging at all. Lucky banged on the glass, Raven coming into view. Lucky pulled on the door again, it not moving.
Raven nodded and walked towards them, he then stopped as his head tilted. Looking to the side of them. Lucky paled. Her head turned, she watched and waited. Then she saw it. The animal, blood drooling down the side of its head. A vicious grin-like snarl on its face and eyes blank as chalk. It's front paw twisted and bone popping through the skin. It limped, like it couldn't feel the pain. It growled, its eyes watching them.
Then it charged.
Lucky turned back to Raven banging on the door, her eyes wide. Raven rushed to the lock of the door, unlocking it and pushing it open. Lucky grabbed Celia and shoved her inside, Celia screaming from the beast. Lucky grabbed her bat swung, it collided with the animal's jaw. It fell into the wall and Lucky darted through. The animal already back on her tail. Raven slammed the door shut and locked it the monster barging straight into the thick glass. It barked and barked and snarled as it tried to rip through the glass.
"That's not gonna hold it back for long!" Raven shouted, his voice quickening in pace. Lucky and Celia ran to the other side of the common room. They went the glass sliding door, Lucky turned and saw Harry at the phone box- a white plastic box that was filled with their electronics. Lucky darted to it and went searching pulling out a familiar device. "Take all of them with us," Raven muttered.
Harry nodded, grabbing the box. Raven opened the sliding door, Harry running through. Celia followed and Lucky wasn't far behind, Raven ran through and slammed the door shut. Their footsteps bolted through the camp, they ran down the stairs and into the undercover halls.
Harry and Celia's footsteps were further away, slowly being lost as they exited the undercover building. Lucky and Raven ran side by side, Lucky turned, and the sound of shattered glass could be heard from a mile away. There was a snarling snap and she could hear the howls of a broken creature, a tainted soul.
Lucky bolted ahead, her cricket bat still in her hands, her eyes looked behind her and she saw the dark shape approaching. She squealed and threw her bat at it. Raven watched and gave her a sharp look.
"Smart idea! Throw your only weapon at it!"
"Sorry!" Lucky replied back harshly. The adrenaline was pursing in her veins, sending her heart into a frenzy as she ran. She bolted up the stairs, taking two at a time. Raven followed. The monster behind them slowing down, not so much from Lucky's terrible aim, but from the injured front leg it sported.
Raven and Lucky bolted down the paved path, Raven running off it, through the large mulched garden and turning up into the cabin area. Lucky running around the garden and turning up to the cabins, Lucky's heart was in her ears and her lungs were having a seizure. She felt exhausted and dehydrated. She was out of breath and wanted to rest, but the fact that she could die at any minute was enough motivation to keep her going.
Raven sprung up the steps to her cabin, bashing open the door he stepped aside as Lucky raced past him. He closed the door and followed her. Lucky banged on the door.
"Open up!!" Lucky screeched out, the door opened, and she bolted in. Raven following. He turned around and slammed it.
"Quick barricade it!" he ordered, grabbing the bed. Spartan and Harry came to his side moving it across the door.

The blondie and her group of friends were listening closely. They heard the shouts then the animalistic growls that swiftly followed. Though, no screams. Ella pursed her lips.
"Hmm,"
"What is it? Did you hear what was out there?" Keeley, a curled haired brunette girl. She wasn't the smartest, until it came to manipulating people to get what she wanted. She wasn't intelligent, she was conniving and sneaky.
"OMG guys, what the hell! Why would you try and listen to someone dying!" Suzie, honey eyed phone freak, shouted in surprise. Ella rolled her eyes.
"Would you shut up!" she screeched back.
"Guys, seriously. Shush!" Abigail, or Abi, commanded. She was the intellectual one of the group. A dark-eyed history nerd. She got enough high grades that they could easily be spread amongst the seven of them and still have piles left over. Ivy sighed; this was so boring. Ivy grumbled, her gold locks falling in front of her face.
She grumbled as she looked to Shavonne and Mina. The two were like peas in a pod. People would think they were gay, but Bell and Celia took that roll. Ivy huffed. Smirking. How fun it was to spread that rumour.
Ivy was a cruel hearted person; she was evil at heart and used the people she needed to get by. She'd leave others in the dust without a second thought, until it came to her group of allies. She knew if she did anything to diss anyone, Ella would make sure Ivy didn't see the light of day again.
People would think being the principal's daughter would come with bullying. But just the opposite. It came with more power than Ivy could've imagined. Which is why she intended to stay friendly with the bitch.
Ella huffed. "Something tells me those idiots across the hall are getting supplies"
"You mean the bimbos are gonna try and ditch us!?" Keeley screeched, hands grabbing her cheeks and her eyes wide with overused shock. Ella rolled her eyes.
"No, it means we're gonna be able to get outta here!"
"Yeah, dimwit!" Suzie lashed out; Keeley grunted. Her eyes narrowed. She crossed her arms, huffing. Abi looked down at her book, not caring about the fight that was about to occur. It was fine, they were all weak ass bitches whose only weapons were their words and popularity. Abi didn't really care what they thought. She didn't care about their interests, she just used them for her benefit. They were people to sit with, so she wasn't alone, but that was more for her mother's sake than anything else.
The Sin's were going to be at each other's throats if they didn't get out of the room soon. But away from the room and the camp. The chaos was only just beginning.
