HUNTERS THAT BECAME THE HUNTED

Lykos sat down at the edge of town. His eyes narrowing, he ran a hand through his hair. His dark hues for eyes, blending into the fiery pits of his pupils. It was almost impossible to differentiate his irises from his pupils. It was just one large dark pit.

He huffed as he heard footsteps approaching, turning his head he saw the ginger omega. Solitaire watched his alpha glumly, his pale skin standing out against the very dark and cliched alpha male. Solitaire rolled his eyes as Lykos stood up and pushed his way past him.

Solitaire stood still, before turning and following his alpha. Solitaire looked up as he heard footsteps, turning his head he saw Onus. The crescent haired man looked at Lykos with an angered expression, teeth bared.

"What in Aria's name, were you thinking!?" he growled. Lykos ignored him, looking to the wall in front of him. Lykos huffed.

"I'm the only one keeping us moving," he snapped back. Onus rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, good going. Now their sprawled across the forest floor with stakes and bullet holes in their heads!"

"Guys..." Solitaire ushered out, before shutting his mouth when Lykos' icy glare landed on him. Onus looked at Solitaire.

"At least you had some common sense!"

"But I screwed up! Aria save my soul, Emmy died because of me!" Solitaire lent his back to the wall and slowly slid down. Tears welling in his eyes, slowly falling down his cheeks. Onus found pity and sympathy in him. Solitaire was an omega; he wasn't used to have such high weighted responsibilities placed onto his life.

It made sense that he was sensitive when it came to the Trappers and the lives they took. Especially because of his mother... Onus sat next to him.

"It's fine Solitaire. At least you tried to do something. You know that Emmy was a brave girl. Even if she's only nine, she's got spunk"

"..." Solitaire remained silent, bringing his legs to his chest. Onus sighed and quietened down. Sometimes wolves just needed some alone time to run through their thoughts and come to terms with things.

"None of them will be able to have a proper send-off... they won't get to go to the Great Kingdom"

"I know..." ah, so that's what he was upset about.

"You know Aria doesn't abandon any of her children"

"But are we really her children? Think about it, we're animals of the night-"

"We're animals of nature. We're connected to the roots of history and the day and the night..."

"I'll never understand this religion"

"..." Onus' face morphed into something Solitaire could only describe as shock and slight offense. "I-It's not really a religion!?" Onus said quickly, looking to the ground. Solitaire raised a brow.

"How is it not? You worship some ancient goddess, live by ancient rules, do ancient rituals and traditions. It's exactly like a religion!"

"The difference between what we follow, and a religion is because religion is the Mundane's way of coming to terms with things they can't explain. Whilst we know what's out there and on the other side. Aria was a real person who really defeated the dark and created a kingdom for those to pass on too"

"Wow, so much for people being free to believe in what they want"

"You know I don't mean it like that. You know the Emmy's soul will be fine. All their souls will be fine... Lamia can't get her greedy hands on them... Dawn can't get her greedy hands on them.... It's okay,"

"Sure..."

Lykos rolled his eyes at the two. "If your both done with making out, we need to keep moving. The Trappers are gonna be around here, and we're vulnerable outside of a forest"

Onus furrowed his brows. "C'mon, we'll keep moving" he said to Solitaire softly. The ginger stood up and followed his two superiors out of the alley and into the streets. They were filled with Mundane's. All living their lives completely oblivious to the problems the Mythical faced.

Luna's stomach growled loudly. She hissed and gripped her stomach. She was so hungry. Hessy looked back, biting her lower lip. Her own stomach growing a numbing ache. She grumbled as they continued. That's when Hessy's eyes perked to a certain smell.

Food?

Her mouth watered and she slowly turned her head to face the direction. There was a large grey woodened house. Two stories with broken windows. She turned to Luna who nodded, and they ran to it. Luna ducked under one of the windows and Hessy boosted her up, she turned and looked inside the house.

Certain bits of food chilling on the table. Like they owned the place. Luna licked her lips. She turned down to Hessy who looked up with anticipation. Almost bouncing on her feet. Luna nodded her head and Hessy pushed up.

Luna slowly slid through the window. Landing on the other side ever so lightly. She reached through the window and grabbed Hessy's hands and pulled up. Her feet pushing off the walls and through the window. She landed on the other side with ease.

The two looked to the table, stalking across the room. Trying their best to not emit any sounds to alert anyone of their presence. Luna was first to the table and looked a bunch it. She wasn't sure what exactly caught her interest until she looked to the other side. A metal object holding a large metal bowl, and something emitted a mouth-watering smell. She looked over and saw the cream look of soup. Or she hoped it was soup. She backed away.

Turning to the table. She looked among the food and grabbed a sandwich. At least that's what she believed it was, if she remembered what the gatherers would say. She halted.

"Should we really be doing this?" she asked looking up to Hessy who also hesitated.

"I... I don't know..." she mumbled. Her hand retreating from the bags of food. She grabbed her stomach as it growled loudly. They froze and looked up to the house as they heard something creak. Hessy turned back to the table. "We could try and hunt something?"

"Yeah, cause there's totally so much out there to try and find and we totally have all we need to be able to cook it"

"We could eat it as wolves?"

"Hessy!" Luna whisper shouted, her mouth opening in shock. Hessy realising what she just said slammed her mouth shut, a large blush forming over her cheeks. Her eyes widened.

"I... I-er, didn't mean it like that!"

"Well, lookie here. We've got some thieves?"

Hessy and Luna froze, staring at each other. They turned and saw three people standing in the other room. Hessy gulped and looked back to Luna, who growled. As their eyes still shimmered a dim yellow, Luna could sense the apprehension that hung in the air.

Luna took a step back, her eyes widening. She looked to Hessy who looked back.

'Do we fight?'

'No! We don't if they're like the other people we encountered. It'd be best to run'

'But (Your name)-'

'We need to run!'

'If you say so'

The two sides watched each other in apprehension. An older man stepped forward; Luna scattered back. Growling. He held his hands up, showing no sign of aggression. He slowly advanced towards them. He looked to be in about his fifties, the other two not any younger.

They watched the two wolves, making sure they didn't attempt a runaway. Luna backed into Hessy, the two wolves going completely scatterbrained. Great way to keep your head in the situation Luna. Absolutely fantastic.

He grabbed two bags, a sandwich in each. He kneeled down and slid them across the floor. To either girl. Luna watched it bounce against her feet. She was confused. Her eyes looked up, locking onto the man in front of her.

Her sunny eyes flicking back to the piece of food. Hessy knelt down and grabbed them, standing up slowly. Watching her beta's movements.

"Now, lovelies," the man began, clapping his hands together. "Why don't you tell us everything you know?"

"?taht od ew dluow yhw dnA"

He raised a brow at the two. "The hell did you just say?"

"!taht ekil krow t'nseod efiL ?ydnad dna enif lla uoy tsurt ot su tcepxe uoy doof su evig uoy esuaceb tsuJ ?tahW ?!gnihtyna uoy llet dluow ew eman s'airA ni yhw uoy deksa I"

"..." the man's mouth fell open. He could not understand if the girl was trying to pull his leg or not. Did she actually not know English? Or was she trying to find a way out of the situation. He furrowed his brows stepping forward. "Alright missy, listen here!"

She growled and leapt back. The girl behind her following, she opened the sealable plastic bag and sniffed. Obviously checking to see if it was drugged. Well, at least they were smart. He'd give them that. He looked over to Jonathan and Marie. Both looking on confused as all hell.

"?ecaf ym no gnihtemos ereht sI"

"...hguoht hsilgnE gnikaeps ruoy kniht t'nod I ,tuB ?oN"

"!ekas s'airA roF"

The man's brows furrowed as the two conversed in their own language, the front seemingly cursing out. He raised a brow. "Can you even understand me?"

"?gnidnopser m'I kniht uoy od woH !nac I esruoc fO"

The girl seemingly snapped back at him. He looked to his partners who walked into the same room. Standing next to him, as they watched the girl grow slowly more and more agitated.

"hsilgnE ton llitS"

The amber haired girl spoke, jumping as the front girl turned back. Glaring deadly daggers at her.

"...Shut...mouth..." she growled lowly. The man furrowed his brows and nodded. He bolted forward, ready to grab one.

Luna's eyes snapped to him. She growled lowly and looked to Hessy. Looks like running wasn't going to be the best choice....

"You said you found a group?" Hoodie asked the female proxy. She nodded her head and stepped out of his way. She watched as he and the others walked past, her eyes, lingering on the clearing the trees. She turned away and walked to her own set of partners.

As Hoodie entered the clearing, the smell of blood hit his nose like being hit in the head with a bat. He furrowed his brows as he saw the crimson pools. Dripping down an oak tree's trunk was a man's body. His chestnut hair fallen over his paled face. Wooden stake impaled through his right hand and stomach.

Toby stalked forward, pleasantly surprised with the scene before him. Finally, something interesting. He pushed past some grass and saw a young woman, blue silver hair. Cut short, shaven on the sides. Her eyes a dim yellow and filled with fear. He tilted his head and knelt down. Bullet holes littered her body, before a final one lodged itself deep in her head.

Her hands were brought to her shoulders and her lips were spread apart; her head leant back. Almost like she was screaming at someone... Toby turned his head and saw another body. A young child, probably ten or so. Maybe younger. Masky was already at her side, watching her warm honey eyes. Black veins bulged out of the child's skin and her sweet pink coloured caramel hair was sprawled across the floor.

Masky lifted her head slowly, trying his best to not disturb the scene. Or rather, disturb the body until it could be sent to Jack for further investigation. A large gashed wound was in the back of her head. Skin torn away and blood still slowly dripping. Recolouring the dried liquid on her scalp. Masky set her head back down.

"Poor kid..." he mumbled; Toby watched the girl. He could practically see the stories she had to tell.

"Do you know who they are?" he heard Kate asked the girl proxy who shook her head.

"I m-may have a clue!" Toby chirped in cheerily. Waltzing over to the grass and pulling it back, revealing the woman. Hoodie approached, the same dim yellow as the two girls he and Kate chased. He hummed.

"Get these to Jack once we're done" he ordered the female proxy who nodded.

Hoodie walked to the man impaled into the tree. His mouth still hanging open, he grabbed a fistful of hair and pulled up. Revealing dim yellow hues. Hoodie's brows furrowed.

"What about the girl?"

"Her eyes aren't yellow, but she's got weird veins popping out of her skin" Masky replied walking over to the child, Hoodie following. Kate pushed some hair out of her face, watching as Masky grabbed her left arm and pulled it up slowly. Revealing the veins that flew through her skin.

"Are there any others?"

"Yes," the female proxy replied walking to a deep bank and point down. "We smelt this one before we even arrived" she muttered, moving out of Hoodie's way. He knelt down and stared into the bank. Another young woman, her hair blonde and honey brown. Her eyes a matching blonde colour- if that were even possible.

A chain wrapped tightly around her body and dried tears covering her cheeks and the sides of her head. Her light skin was dappled with red, and it wasn't blood. Burning. Hoodie's eyes looked to the chains. Dug deep into her skin, almost going to the bone.

Blood dried around the area and her eyes a dim yellow, veins covering her skin. Something about her seemed strange compared to the rest. Like something was about to happen before she died, Hoodie couldn't tell what.

His thoughts were interrupted as Toby whistled.

"D-Daaammn, so-someone had fun!"

"I don't think this was a murder for a hobby Toby, something tells me this is trying to prove a point. Something that has no emotions of feelings for these people..."

"There's another one," the female proxy spoke up. Masky motioned for her to lead the way and she did. The last one was hung upside down, the same chians wrapped around his legs and burning into him. His dark skin splotched with red.

His stomach covered in wounds, stab wounds. Though there seemed to be burn marks littered through the wounds as if he had been stabbed with a red-hot poker. Hoodie furrowed his brows. Hmm.

"We'll see what Jack had to say about this, until then. I think it might be best that if we find any one of them we engage. Do not kill but do what you need to to get answers. Understood?"

The female proxy nodded and motioned to her partners to gather the bodies the best they could. Hoodie watched the scene before him, thinking deeply.

"You don't think this is gonna lead to something?"

"I don't know... the Ethelmore and Phoenian Wars exist for a reason..."

"Yeah, but like ages ago! Before any of us were born, plus you forget that it was set in another dimension!"

"Masky's right. They existed between the gods and fight against the dark... we hardly know anyone or anything about it. The only way we even know they exist is through Master!" Kate added, watching the child body be carried away. She looked back to Hoodie. "You're still considering it though, aren't you?"

"Yep," was all he answered with, before turning around and walking away.

"The war's fought in that dimension were brutal, neither side fully human and neither side daring to back down. If you all think the World War's in this dimension are bad, just wait till you see what we'll struggle through if it dare arises here" Masky muttered, following Hoodie.

"H-How does he ev-even know?"

"Maybe if you actually listened and studied what you needed; you'd be able to understand these things!" Kate chuckled. Toby rolled his eyes.

"Yeah, cause w-w-we too-tally know that the wars were b-bloody"

"We know what master's documents say"

"Y-Yeah, but their documents. E-Eas-sily biased and stuff!"

"Look who's being all historical!" Kate answered, walking away. Toby rolled his eyes and followed after.
