Chapter 47

Ok this isn't a conspiracy, more of a superstition but hear this one out:
During pregnancy, "if you have a food craving, and you don't fulfill that craving, and you scratch yourself, your child will be born with a beauty mark in the shape of the food you were craving," one mom in Israel told me. The mark would appear, naturally, on the part of the body the woman scratches.
But yea anyways enjoy :)
Sahana P.O.V.
My eyes slowly open.
The room is still dark.
I slightly bring my head up.
Monty is still fast asleep.
And so is Amiga?
When did she come here?
Wait, she would only be here if...
My eyes shift to another figure.
Sleeping right beside me.
His face on my pillow.
His big masculine body comfortably covered by my blankets.
Yet not every part of him was snuggled inside.
My gaze traveled to my hand.
He was still holding it tight.
Close to him.
Our fingers tightly interlocked.
He never let go.
For the whole night.
Unconsciously his thumb ran back and forth softly on mine.
I smiled.
A tear ran down the bridge of my nose.
"How did I deserve you?"
His silhouette shifted and he laid on his back, placing our interlocked hands on his chest.
I carefully pulled my hand away from his and checked my phone.
3:30 a.m.
I sighed.
My head turned back to him sleeping peacefully.
I scooted closer to him, fully extending my arm across his chest.
It felt nice hugging him.
He was like a big teddy bear.
But I wanted to get more comfortable.
Eh he wouldn't mind right?
I then rested a leg over his and gave him a little squeeze before going back to sleep.
8:00 a.m.
I suddenly felt something wet rub over and over on my cheek.
Monty.
I opened one eye to see him wagging his tail and tongue sticking out.
"Ugh Monty go back to sleepp." I groaned.
I turned my head back to see Jai's face right inches away from mine.
My other eye immediately shot open.
I smiled at the sight.
The last time I saw Jai sleep was when I tied him up to a chair when he broke in.
Who would've thought both of us would be sleeping in the same bed after that?
I've never seen someone look so calm in their sleep.
Like how?
Almost instantly his eyes fluttered.
They slowly opened.
Our gaze met one another's.
My heart pounded.
"Hi." I whispered.
"Hi." He chuckled.
But immediately I realized something and turned around,
"What time is it?" Monty's gaze went to my phone.
I looked at him, confused for a second then grabbed it.
"8:05?!" I screamed which made Jai jump in surprise.
"It's *cough* 8 *cough* 05? *cough*"
My eyes widened.
I slowly turned around and looked at him,
"Why are you coughing?"
Jai looked back at me.
I leaped at him and placed my palm on his forehead and gasped,
"YOU'RE BURNING JAI."
He put a hand over his mouth, "I'm sick?!"
"I mean well yeah since you let me be so close to you."
Suddenly I started to cough, "Wait why *cough* am I *cough* COUGHING?! *cough*"
Jai suddenly moved closer and put a hand over my forehead, "You're burning too."
I felt heat travel all throughout my face, "Oh my god you're turning so red Sahana," Jai said in worry, "I thought your fever went down last night." He removed his hand.
I felt the rapid rhythm of my heart.
Breathe Sahana, breathe.
"Since we're both sick now," I pointed at the two of us,
"Should we go to work?"
Jai looked shocked from the question,
"You're asking me if we should take a day off from work?"
I nodded, "Well yeah, we're sick Jai."
"You're probably worse than me at this point."
"And plus, we wouldn't want to be giving it to any of our co-workers."
He thought for a couple of minutes while I just sat there awkwardly.
Then finally he looked at me,
"Let's do it."
We informed everyone that we weren't coming to work.
"Ok, so that's over with,"
I smiled and turned to Jai,
"Thanks for staying the night."
He grinned, "I told you I wasn't gonna leave you."
I chuckled, but then suddenly smelled something atrocious.
Oh my god,
my breath.
I slapped a hand over my mouth realizing I hadn't brushed my teeth yet, "I'm sorry my breath stinks."
Jai laughed but then accidentally smelled his own and covered his mouth in embarrassment. "I'll go and brush my teeth at my place." He said and got up still covering his mouth.
I nodded as he grabbed his keys and was about to open the door but I stopped him.
"Hey Jai!"
He turned around.
"How come I don't have a pair of keys to your apartment?"
"You have one for mine, so I should have one for yours too, right?"
I could tell Jai was smiling through his eyes.
He nodded,
"Don't worry I'll get you one."
And closed the door behind him.
I jumped off my bed,
"Oh my god,"
my heart was beating out of my chest,
"I literally just told Jai my whole life story last night."
I looked at Monty and Amiga cuddling on my bed, "Wait, when did ya'll get this close?" I pointed confused at the both of them.
"Oh, fuck I need to brush my teeethh." I sprinted to my bathroom and freshened up.
I exited the bathroom and coincidentally heard my door open again.
Jai entered, smiling.
He found me and dangled a pair of keys in his hands, "Turns out I already had an extra pair."
I took them from his hands, "Now I can officially come in and scare the shit out of you while you're sleeping." I giggled.
He rolled his eyes, "Let's eat breakfast."
I made pancakes for the both of us and we feasted.
"I need to learn how to cook from you *cough*." Jai spoke.
I waved my hand, "Oh staap *cough* you make a killer omelet, and I never made mine taste as good as yours."
We both stood up and headed towards the sink.
"I'll do them. You made breakfast." Jai said taking the plate away from my hands.
I didn't object.
Inside I was smiling.
"Ok, I'm gonna play a movie for us. Anything you wanna watch?"
Jai turned around and faced me, "Hmm, I am a bit in the mood for a romcom."
I snapped my finger,
"Then I know the perfect movie."
I played Just Friends starring Ryan Reynolds and Amy Smart.
We were all comfy in the living room staring at the TV.
The final scene came.
Chris(Ryan) ran up and knocked on Jamie's (Amy) door.
She opened it, "Hi." and immediately slammed it after knowing who it was outside.
"Jamie. Look, Jamie!" Chris yelled, "I said a lot of really crappy things the other night and I'm sorry about that."
"I haven't been a very good friend to you, and I'm sorry ok?"
"I just—The truth is I'm-I'm afraid to be your friend 'cause I'm always gonna want more."
"But then I got to thinking that- that I'd rather have you in my life as a friend than not at all."
I squeezed my pillow in excitement.
Jamie suddenly opens the door.
The two make eye contact.
"You know what? That's a lie too." Chris confessed.
Jamie closed the door behind her and crossed her arms, "Why are you back here?"
Chris gazed at her,
"Because I want to take you on a date."
I looked at Jai and his eyes were glued on what was happening.
Jamie sighed.
"And I don't care if it's in the day or at night, or whenever, as long as it's a real date," Chris pleaded,
"And I want to tell you how beautiful I think you are inside and out."
Jamie's expression beagn to change.
"And I want to have babies with you."
"And I want to marry you,"
"and I love you."
A smiled formed on Jamie's face.
"Jamie I always have." Chris nodded.
And then he stepped closer and smashed his lips against hers.
I squealed and saw Jai smiling wide.
"Mmm. Ow!" Jamie spoke.
"Sorry. Just, uh..20 years all at once!" they both laughed. (because they've been best friends for all these years and Chris(Ryan) has always liked her)
Chris gazed into Jamie's eyes.
This time slowly he went back in for the kiss.
The camera shifted to three kids reacting to the scene and there the movie ended.
"SO?" I asked.
Jai nodded, "IT WAS SO GOOD."
I laughed, "I KNOW RIGHT."
"I see a little bit of Chris in me," he smiled,
"especially in the last scene."
"Pfft what's that supposed to mean." I giggled.
Jai shrugged, "*cough* *cough*"
I got up from where I was sitting and walked towards him, placing my hand on his forehead, "Let me take your temperature." I said heading for my medicine cabinet.
I grabbed it and placed it on his temple.
I removed it after I heard the beep and looked: 104.5
My eyes grew wide.
"What?" Jai asked in worry.
"Your temp is 104.5."
His eyes became wide.
"You need to rest Jai!!" I pushed him down onto a pillow resting on the couch and stood up,
"Wait here. Don't move."
He slowly nodded and I sprinted to grab blankets.
I ran back and carefully placed it over him, covering every body part.
Including his face.
"Ok now SLEEP."
Jai brought the blanket down to his chest and looked up at me.
"What? Is there something you need?" I asked.
His lips formed a tiny smirk, "Some hot, sweet chai."
I nodded, "Roger that." And began walking to my kitchen but Jai grabbed my wrist, stopping me.
"Thank you." He smiled.
"No need to thank me,"
"that's what friends are for."
He let go and I went to make the delicious drink.
"CHAI IS READY!!" I said fast walking to the living room.
"Oo I'm ready." Jai said getting up and rubbing his hands together in excitement.
I handed him a mug and he inhaled the spice fumes, before carefully taking a sip,
"Ah, just like how my mom makes it."
I was surprised by his reaction, "Well damn, then I'm practically a god at this point haha."
Jai set his mug down on my coffee table.
"So how do you feel from last night?"
I nodded, "Better, thanks to you."
"But in the end you got sick because of me." my head hung low in disappointment.
"To be honest I should thank you for getting me sick," Jai laughed,
"Work has been getting so hectic lately."
"I know same for me. With my new launch coming up in the spring, everyday has been draining." I sighed.
"But hey, it's ok," Jai spoke,
We both have each other now."
He smiled.
My heart melted.
"Yeah, we do."
