Chapter 10

It has been a week since the little accident I had and I have been dying to come back to work,one because I won't feel sleepy while working and two its like am getting free points by just sitting at my comfortable chair and check what people have written like am doing now.Chloe was so happy to see me and started giving me the scoop of what has been happening in the company even tho am not familiar with anyone.

"Its lunchbreak" Chloe sings bursting in my office, "hey" I say chuckling and taking my purse, "am so hungry and all the clients who have been coming in and out were just giving me a headache" she complains as we head out of my office, "mmh that must be awful" I try to sympathy with her and she nods, "you know another one was trying to hit on me and even he doesn't have any lines to do so.." she continues to rumble about her day and I try to listen keenly.

We reach the diner we usually come to and order our lunch, "hey that reminds what were you doing with our boss' cousin?" She asks and I just shrug, "his my boyfriend thats all" I say taking my fries and popping it in my mouth I hear her gasp and I look at her, she is so dramatic, "thats big news Kats,have you thought of what will happen when you breakup with him? I mean because he is the boss' cousine" she says and I remain silent for a moment, "that won't happen because we won't breakup" I state and take my soda.

"Mmh your so sure with your relationship? Are you in love with him?" She asks and I look at her for a while suching for an answer, "I like him a lot thats all" I answer and she nods, "okey lets change the subject how is Mr.Linch's penthouse?" She asks eagerly,she doesn't know she has made the subject worse, "its fairly big,has expensive things you know how billoners stay" I tell her shortly not wanting to go into details, "so how is your head?" She asks and I just shrug, "better I feel like my old self now at least am going for a pool party to really have my old self back" I tell her finishing my last fries.

"Really, a pool party, can I come? I really want to have fun and maybe we could catch up more" she says and I nod my head, "that will be great you and Cam will love each other,your practically crazy together" I say and she giggles, "it will be tonight just send me your address and I will pick you up" I tell her and I see her already typing, "done" she announces and I feel my phone ring from the message.

We head back in the office and I finish up the remaining work,when am done I notice its too earily to submit so I rearrange my office well only the desk because am not sure if I can move the things.I stand to look at the beautiful view of NYC,now what do I do? Right I haven't to my mom about the internship.

I take my phone from my purse to call her, "hey mum?" I greet her immediately she picks up the call, "hello dear,how have you been? You haven't even come to visit me am so disappointed in you" she scolds breathing haevily and I hear music from the background, "oh mom don't be mad I have been too busy,I promise I will come to visit you soon" I promise her and I hear the background silent and hear her sigh heavily, "are you doing zumba or what?" I ask her and she laughs, "yes you should come see me am lighter than you now" she says and I just chuckle, "in your dreams mom,so I have news to tell you" I tell her seating on my chair spinning a little.

"And what is that?" She asks curiosity laced with the question, "I am working at the Linches Publishing Company" I blurt out and she squeals, "really from when?" She asks happily, "it has been three weeks since I started,its an internship" I explain to her, "and you're telling me now, Kater Kay Mendes am your mother and I should now everything" she complains and I rub my temples, "mom-" I try to talk but she continues to complain, "when were you going to tell me hmmm? I want to know? Do you want me to drag you here so that you can be tell me what is happening in your life?" She rambles on and I wait for here to finish, "mom I was going to tell you earlier but I had-" I stop myself from continuing because if I tell her I had an accident, her blood pressure will go high.

"But what Kater I want to know" she pushes it and I sigh, "mom I was going to tell you,I just wanted to stay longer so that I can be sure" I tell her and she sighs, "mmh okey but don't hide anything from me again.Anyway am friends with Mrs.Linch, I do her makeup for most of the occassion...." she continues on how she is friends with Mrs.Linch and I just listen my responding being, 'mmh' and 'really' when she is done talking to me for the rest of the thirty minutes,I put down the phone and start twirling the pen with my fingers.

Argh do I really have to submit these files because I don't really want to see him.I look at the file that are pilling on my desk,he likes giving me a lot of work or its just because I haven't been here for the past week either way I have to submit them.I collect them and walk slowly to the elevator,it comes to a stop soon and I just stare at the open elevator door, "dear are you getting out?" An old lady asks me,I nod and walk out, why did I take this job again?

I knock on his door and he answers for me to come in,I find a brunette lady seated opposite from him and she stands up her hand brushing my bosses forearm, "I will see you later Quinn" she says lowly to him but I was able to hear,he just nods at her and she stands up.She walks slowly swinging her hips so much then glares at me with her black eyes and leaves.What just happened? Maybe she's his girlfriend but why do I feel funny thinking about it.I walk to his desk and place the files on his desk, "here is my work" I tell him and he takes them atleast his acting as if nothing happened.

"Okey I will look at them, anything else?" He asks and I shake my head no ready to leave, "how are you feeling?" He asks as he lifts his head to look at me, "am much better thankyou,can I be excused now?" I say more than a question and he nods his head.I leave his office revealed that he hasn't brought up unappropriate stuff.

I take my purse and head to my car telling Chloe I will get at her at six o'clock.I reach home early and find Cam blending some juice, "hey ready to party!" She exclaims and I nod my head happily, "lets go put on some sexy bikini's". We go to my room to dress up there,I put on my yellow bikini inside my flowery dress leaving my straight hair to fall and she wears a black and white bikini inside her flowering dress and hold up her locks in a messy bun.

"We need to pick up Chloe first before we head out to the pool party" I tell her applying some lipgloss, "you mean the secretary?" She asks and I nod my head, "you will love her she is the exact copy cut of you the only difference is that your usually serious" I tell her and she snorts, "oh please am serious when its important to be that" she defends herself and I just roll my eyes.

Chloe's hostel is not so far so we reach faster, "hey bitches ready to have fun?" She squeals entering the back seat and I just chuckle, "Chloe meet Cam my bestfriend,Cam Chloe" I introduce them and they both greet each other.We reach Macy's house which is a big masionatte, "wow are this niggas this rich?" Chloe asks admiring the place, "I never knew Macy is this rich!" Cam gasps as we are being opened for the big gates, "you know she is usually reserved" I tell her and she nods.We get out of the car,Cam and Chloe getting out dramatically by swinging there hair,I knew they had the same behaviours.

I roll my eyes seeing the boys near us drooling over them and the girls throwing daggers at us,why do they have to be dramatic? I groan intenally and see Zayn and Jax make there way to us and I smile forms on my lips.Cam runs into Zayn's arms giving him a long kiss,they usually act as if they just meet,they are lucky they love each other,they are so PDA.Jax wraps his arm around my waist and kisses my cheek, "hi sweetheart,missed me?" he asks me a smirk playing on his lips for some reason today he is in a really good mood,I nod my head and peck his lips.He turns to look at Chloe and grins, "hey Chloe,I never knew you liked these parties,I would have invited you long ago" Jax tells her and she rolls her eyes, "that is because you never asked" she states, "now can we go in,I want some drinks" she whines and we head inside,Jax holding me securely to him.

We strip out of our flowery dresses and see Chloe with a neon pink bikini it brings out her red hair, "your bikini is sexy where did you buy it?" I ask her and she shrugs, "actually its not mine I borrowed from my roommate, she said it didn't fit her so I did her a favour to it" she says admiring herself, "and you two look gorgeous with your bikinis, am sure your men won't let you go anywhere" she winks at us and we just giggle going to the pool.

We find the boys talking to the group and we head there sitting at the edge of the pool, "gosh Kater your going to make all the men around here fall" Macy exclaims and I just chuckle, "you look great Macy and the party is wonderful" I complement her and she thanks me. "Hey Kater whose this hottie you have brought here?" Brad asks looking at Chloe, "she's my friend Chloe" I tell him and immediately turns to her starting to talk sweetly at her.He never stop flirting, "anyone want some drinks?" Mace asks Alice by his side,everyone takes the shots of vodka but I refuse, "Your not drinking?" Jax asks and shake my head no, "am driving I need to be sober" I tell him and takes another shot from Mace, "I will drive you,just drive and have fun" he says giving me and I give in.

Zayn comes our way and he immediately watches Cam intensely, "Jesus Cam your killing me" he mutter carrying her and throwing her to the pool joining in, "Zayn why did you do that?" She scolds him and we laugh,they are so unique. "Lets go swim,the water is warm you will love it" Jax says and we jump in the water,splashing at each other as we dance like drunkads in the pool.We stay hours chatting with the group and Jax excuses himself saying he needs to freshen up.

Jax dolges the second punch that Zayn was about to give him and pushes my brother through his stomach to the ground so that his on top of him and punches him,I feel tears running down my cheeks as I watch them fighting, "Kater you have to stop them" Cam pleads to me her eyes watering as she watches Zayn been punched, "yes Kater, stop this before it gets worse" Chloe says next to me,how did they come next to me? I wipe my tears fasters and take the risk of stopping them.

I go next to Zayn grabbing his arm pleading him to stop but he doesn't listen so I go to Jax and asks him stop,I pull his arm with all my strength telling him stops but he pushes me by his arm with so much force I scrap my eblow from the impact I have crashed too.Zayn immediately notices and leaves Jax running to me, "Kater are you all right?" I wipe the tears that has been flowing on my cheeks and make my way through the crowd that has formed seeing them giving their pityfull look to me,I know they just happy of the drama they are watching.I make my way to the barlike stadium that Macy has setup and tell the blonde boy to pour me a drink.I just hate myself, how could I not remember that there is no soul that is not self-centered.I hear Cam call after me and I rub my temples not ready to talk to someone especially the people who warned me about him,its just like rubbing salt to the wound.

I wake up from the barstool and walk past them not giving them a single glance,I know its not their fault but am not just ready to face reality.I go to my car staggering a little from the alcohol I had and shut the door with so much force that my car shook a little after I entered,I roar the car to life ready to leave this hell once and for all and before I rode off I hear my car window being knocked at.I let out a groan wondering who has the audacity to confront me right now.

"Kater lower this fucking window now" I hear my brother growl and I roll my eyes obeying his order, "where the fuck are you going in this state? Do you want to kill yourself? Get out from this fucking car right now" He barks at me ordering me like the big brother he is and I wince from his tone, "don't act as if you care for me because nobody can care for me if I don't" I point out giving him a hard glare before I hit the gas to the fullest making the car roar more, "don't you dare follow me" I warn him and speed out from there and head home,my real home where every single happiness I had is.

I reach there faster not even caring if there is a car infront of me because the roads are deserted on my way there.I look at the two story house my mom lives in for a while and leave out a sigh getting out from the car.It has been three months since I have been here,I open the attic door smelling the homely smell.I look around seeing nothing has been change and I hear Ruffle barking running towards the stranger that entered and I see Matilda, our nana make her way to me.

"Kater what a surprise! You never told us you are visiting" she says giving me a hug, "hi nana just wanted to passby" I tell her my voice coming out horse from the crying I have being doing. "Are you alright?" She asks looking at my face closely and I shrug her off, "just a little tired,is mom home?" I ask her looking around, "she has gone to Australia just a few hours ago,are you drunk dear you reck of alcohol" she says scrunching her nose in diguist. "Yes just a little,okey I will see you later" I wave her off going to the stairs Ruffle following me.

I open my old bedroom and see nothing has been changed.I close the door letting Ruffle in and go to my secret safe,its small but it holds something I have never thought I would use.After entering the code,I remove the pack of joints that has been here for over an year and plop myself to the carpet and take Ruffle to my lap, "I think its time we make use of this,don't you think that boy" I tell him and he just nuzzles his nose to my stomach, "I missed you too Ruffle" I tell him giggling and take the lighter to light this thing.
