Chapter 9: Brothers

"Warfreak," Allanis laughed

"Awww," Lucas kept on complaining while he was trying to get rid of my hand on his hair.

When I let go of him, he faced me, irritation is evident on his face. I crossed my arms.

"What the hell was that?!"

I grinned evilly when an idea popped into my head. 'You kept on pissing me off this day, right? Now let me piss you off this time,' I thought to myself.

"Or maybe, Lucas, it wasn't really an accident?" I laughed as I calmed myself down.

"Maybe you did it on purpose just to get my attention," I mimicked his words so I can let him feel the irritation I felt a while ago.

"Bitch, you're not even half of the type of girls Lucas wanted!" A girl who was now near us said.

I turned to her with my annoyed look.

"And are you even one of those girls?" I sarcastically said as I scanned her from head to foot.

Okay, I do sound arrogant at that but I don't care. This guy you're trying to defend, right here, is way more cocky than me!

I then turned my glare to Lucas. I wanted to say so many things to him but I stopped myself.

"Stop being so arrogant and rude," I simply said.

Then I waited.

For his sorry.

That never came.

I sighed and just decided to collect my things and walk out, leaving Lucas, Allanis, and everyone on the scene.

My tears attempted to fall out of aggravation.

I slammed the shotgun seat door of my brother Jedric's car as soon as I got inside.

"Oh, it's only your first day and

your face is crumpled. What happened?" He curiously asked.

"Nothing. Just drive. I wanna go home," I said with my stern voice.

"You're grumpy today. What's up?"

He isn't still starting the car so I faced him.

His curious and suspicious expression met mine and his attention is all on me.

I sighed and just came up with my effective excuse.

"I said it's nothing. I'm just hungry," I avoided his gaze so our eyes wouldn't meet.

I'm a very transparent person and my brother right here is a one good reader.

Well, it wasn't a lie, though. I am really starving so it's a win-win situation for us. He got his answer while I get some good food.

He sighed loudly as he started driving. I silently thanked the heavens for that.

I didn't want him to know about everything that happened today. He's protective and could be a little overreacting.

Especially that this day had involved a lot of physical damages and scandalous scenes.

We were both quiet as we drove past the busy city. The only sound that we can hear is his stereo.

"Did you submitted the documents?" he asked softly.

"Yes, brother," I saw him park at one of our favorite Italian cuisine.

"Do you have other place in mind or this is fine with you?" he reconsidered.

"I'm fine here" I said and I got out of his car as soon as it stopped. He followed me from behind and entered the peaceful restaurant.

I ordered my food and desserts. I feel like I requested too many if them but I don't care. It's my brother who's gonna pay, anyway.

He only laughed at me, though.

I was about to say something when his phone rang. He immediately answered it as soon as he looked at the called ID. It's probably work or school.

Looking outside the window, the scenes that happened all day flashed in my mind like a whirlwind. I don't know but I kinda feel like I was overreacting. Or maybe I wasn't really used to be treated like how Lucas treated me today.

But then I remembered his face and his annoying, humorless smile. I actually don't know if I was the only one he treats that way or he is really that cocky and mean to everyone.

I will probably choose the latter reason.

Of course, as far as I know, I didn't do anything wrong to him. I'm not even sure if I have met him before and I made mistakes that might've pissed him.

So a light bulb popped into my head.

"Hey brother, do you happened to know a person named Lucas Narvaez?" I asked as soon as Jedric ended his call.

His brows furrowed as he stared at me, as if thinking about it. I gave him my 'waiting' look.

As if a switch clicked his brain, he lightened up. "Ah!" He exclaimed. "The firstborn of Aunt Valeria and Uncle Francisco," he even nodded his head, sure of his answer.

"Aunt? Uncle?" my brows almost palpitated when I heard those words infront of Lucas's parents'.

"Yup. Family friend. From what I know, our grandfather and theirs are bestfriends. They are also a family of businessmen, architects, and engineers."

"So you mean to say that we're business competitors?" I asked.

"No. Their business is different from ours. We build. They supply our materials." He nodded again continuously.

We stopped our conversation because our food came.

So technically, the Narvaez Industries makes and supplies shiploads of construction materials. I also knew from my brother that they are one of our major suppliers and major stockholders.

"Why? You like that particular Narvaez?" his tone was dead serious.

I almost spit my food when out of tge blue, he asked that.

"Hell, no!" I exclaimed.

"Good,"

I gave him a questioned look. Good? Why? Does he hate Lucas or what? Well nevermind. If he does, I hate Lucas too.

The next day, I woke up early. I groaned when I realized that I'm going to school again. Not that I don't want to study but there is a fifty fifty chance of seeing that prick again.

I stood up and decided to prepare for class. Unlike yesterday, I dressed up in our uniform. I bought these when we were at the faculty yesterday. Simple white blouse with navy and checkered blue linings on the collar and sleeves. Even the tie and skirt looks like that.

I also applied my favorite scent and let my wavy hair fall up 'til my waist.

I went down to have breakfast with Jerich and Joaquin. Probably like me, they are off to school.

I am planning to just ride with them since their university is near ours.

"Morning!" I said as I kissed their cheeks.

I noticed that my brother Jerich is still sleepy until I showed up, as if he woke his senses up. I giggled at his cuteness.

"Goodmorning, baby" he said, smiling.

Quin, who is already ready, kissed me back on my forehead.

"I'm sorry baby, you're brother Jerich is still on his lazy ass mode." he laughed.

I laughed with him as I sat down. I put some bacon and eggs on my plate and a tall glass of fresh milk and ate.

"Mind your own biz, Joaquin," Jerich fired back.

"I'll bring my car. Please wait for me, Jiana. Unless you want to be with Joaquin?" He raised his brows on me.

"I'll go with you. Besides, I still need to prepare," I said.

"Well then, I better be going now," Joaquin kissed my forehead again.

I nodded and continued with my food.

"Okay, take care."

"Take care too, baby." he said and left.

In deep thoughts, I rolled my eyes as I remembered, it's another day and I hope there's no complications.
