Chapter 47: A Bigger Conspiracy

The ball has finally began, and I found myself waiting in line behind the other suitors as Harper was receiving gifts from each one of them. He had an eagerness to his face, and I wasn't sure if it had to do with his coronation or with him finally picking someone to be his bride.

The social season is officially coming to an end!

'Thank you, Lady Talia, for this gem-encrusted poodle figurine', Harper tried to sound as polite as possible, but I could tell that he was trying to stop himself from laughing at the ridiculous looking figurine.

'I have the matching lady-poodle. So now you can always think of me when you look at it', she said with a sultry voice and looked at him dreamily.

Did she actually just say that to the Crown Prince?

'I'm sure I could think of no one else', Harper told her with an amused smile on his face. His face almost turned red from trying to contain his laughter for so long.
