Thirty Four

I was the hero that we were looking for, the person who was destined to unite Pasiphae was me. Nathaniel asked why the map led us to Kingspin even though I was right there the entire time, and Merlin said, "heroes aren't born, they're made." meaning something happened that made me realize that I'm a hero, I wasn't sure what it was until General Iris collapsed in front of me with an arrow in her back.

Nara grabbed her medical bag and immediately started treating her, but as she did, we heard guards on the street looking for George, Joan, Nara, and me. General Iris told us that we had the chance to run away, but we had to leave her behind, but I refused. I refused to let another person die in front of me, knowing that I had the power to heal her. The guards grew closer to our room as I stood there refusing to leave her behind.

Merlin suddenly asked us to trust him and said an incantation. I think I passed out, because when I came to, we were back in a forest and about a day's walk from Kingspin. Merlin told us that he had turned us into toys and snuck us out of the city in his bag. I turned to General Iris and placed my hands on her wound and thought of healing her. The wound glowed white, but she rested her hand on my face and told me to stop.

The spell Merlin had cast had worn off, so she saw who we were. She said that she was happy that she used her final moments to save George and me. I asked her why she wouldn't let me heal her, and she told me that she wanted to go because her time was up in the world. She passed away in my arms and I cried for her as it began to rain. George tapped my shoulder and pointed to the grave he and Donatello had dug for her.

I placed her down and said my final goodbyes before burying her in the Earth. That night, Merlin and I went on another walk and he asked me why I didn't heal her. I told him that living an unwanted life is as good as being dead. He stayed silent for a while after that, and when he finally spoke, he asked me to be his student.
