Thirty Five

Of course I was excited, but right before I could say yes, I remembered everything that magic had done to those close to me and got scared. It was as if my heart was warning me of the dangers of the practice. Merlin tried to reach out to console me, but I flinched and pushed him away. I told him that I wasn't sure if I could control my magic and may end up hurting him, but he grabbed my hand anyway and told me that he'd help me.

He offered to teach me how to control my magic and use it the right way to help defeat Paul and Zephyr and unite Pasiphae. "If you ever change your mind along the way," he said, "just know my offer still stands." We then headed back to camp and George, Donatello, and Nathaniel all shared stories about General Iris and how she had affected them. Instead of being depressed over her death, it really felt like we were celebrating her life, which made me grateful.

I headed to bed, not knowing what I would dream about since my dreams were all over the place at the time. I opened my eyes and saw my parents in a carriage in front of me and I looked out the window and saw grassy hills. We got out of the carriage and I ran along the hills. I turned to go back to them, and Zephyr was in front of me. The hills turned to black tar, but Zephyr turned to kill my parents. I tried to run to them, but my feet were stuck. When I looked back up, Zephyr sent a fireball at me and I woke up in cold sweats.

I got out of the tent to get some fresh air, and Nathaniel was on duty. He walked up to me and asked me what was wrong, but I unconsciously backed away from him. He dropped his arm and apologized to me for what he did, and I also apologized for taking his feelings so lightly as well. We talked as he stood guard and I soon fell asleep once more. The next morning, Joan and Nara teased for me falling asleep on Nathaniel. When I tried to explain that we had fought, I accidentally mentioned how Nathaniel tried to force himself on me, and Donatello and George weren't pleased.

Merlin averted Nathaniel's ass-whooping by taking me to start our first lesson. I thought he would teach me a spell or two, so you can imagine how confused I was when he threw a boulder at me.
