It felt like ages waiting here in the restaurant when in fact only half an hour had passed. Yesterday, when I was busy attending my job I got a text via Instagram. I wasn't the type to social media but I did have an account for namesake.
Micheal had somehow managed to find my insta account, it mustn't have taken him much hard work because Skylar was a mutual friend to us. But the unexpected text from him was weird.
He texted me if we could meet and asked if I had shifted from my place since he didn't find me in my old house. Of course, I didn't tell him and he had no idea that I was staying in Alpha Lucas' pack, to voice the truth, he was blindfolded about me and Alpha Lucas.
If it weren't for the fact about my mateship with Alpha Lucas I wouldn't have agreed to meet Michael. He was a nice guy and was a very patient man, didn't seem the rude one and also was the first werewolf I had spoken freely in a long time. It didn't feel nice about hurting his feelings taking in the account that he had already lost his special one.
I turned on the front cam on my mobile, the new phone was surely amazing with the good quality camera screen and high-quality picture. The 3d wallpaper on my phone looked so real and I couldn't be more glad to have it. My face seemed brighter than usual with my light brown eyes gleaming new and flashy.
"Heaven?" I turned to look at the source and realised Michael was already here. I clicked my phone shut and firmly gripped it under the table. Embarrassed to be caught.
"H-Hey," I foolishly greeted, putting on my best smile.
He wore a casual black tee and blue-washed jeans, his blonde hair falling on his forehead and blue eyes oddly silent. He didn't look to have a good night's sleep landing on the conclusion that it must've been due to the full-moon day before yesterday, feeling bad that he must've had mourned for his mate and wished for his death.
"Everything's alright?" I politely asked.
He weakly let out a smile. "I'll be fine. You haven't ordered anything?"
"I was waiting for you,"
He nodded and took the menu. "What would you like to eat?"
I looked into the other menu and decided, "I'll take white sauce pasta."
He called a passing waiter and ordered the main course for lunch and deserts. The more I noticed him the more off he looked, according to me he looked as if someone had extracted all the happiness from his soul and the bags under eyes were enough to prove my estimation.
"Have you not been sleeping well?" I asked, showing some minimum courtesy to ask someone's well-being.
He didn't look at me for a while and answered, "A lot of things have had my attention."
I nodded and took the glass of water bringing it to my lips.
"I wanted to ask you something," he said solemnly.
I nodded him to proceed.
"Why did you move away from your old apartment?"
The questions stopped my movements, I slowly glanced into his blue swirling orbs. They had an unknown amount of deep emotion, criticizing me in away.
What have I done now?
"Just simply." I dismissed the topic but he didn't let it go.
"To move into his house?" His voice held venom at the edge as if it was a sin to pronounce it.
I frowned not liking the direction of the topic or at least the voice he was leading it to.
"You are Alpha Lucas' mate," he stated, anger brewing in his eyes.
"I am," I confirmed, rubbing my thumb on the screen of the phone.
"Do you like him?"
"I'm yet on—"
"Runaway with me." I wasn't sure if he was saying or demanding, but whatever it was I wasn't agreeing with him. I was though very shocked to define the least.
I came here all the way out of the pack just to tell him that I have someone else now and it would be better if he would let go of me. I wasn't the sort of a person who betrays, didn't want to commit the made mistake and leaving Lucas brought an ache to my heart. A new discovery that I didn't want to leave him which indirectly meant I liked him which directly meant that it wasn't any mate bond's creation. Does that mean I was attracted to him? Or maybe like?
I exhaled ridiculously and shifted my eyes around for a moment when I saw a familiar figure near our table, I ceased my movements and stared wide at him. Alpha Lucas stood there alone in all his splendour in a dark maroon colour suit. and black inside the t-shirt. I hadn't expected him, not even one bit and speaking by his expression, they weren't good at all. His eyes were blank and the colour changed quickly to its darker stage, jaw clenched and pale rough fists, not a good sight to watch.
I got up straight from my seat but he didn't even spare me another glance and stormed out of the restaurant, slamming the door shut catching others' attention.
Michael had watched it too and I swear on the Heaven above his face showed wry amusement. He looked at me and raised his brows, a small smirk on his lips.
"I don't know where you got that shit piece of the idea or how you even thought that I would leave with you, but do not even think for once that I will consider it. I came over here to only let you know that I am someone's mate and we can't become a thing, so I'm sorry. I do not like you and you know better than me how important a mate is to a werewolf." I gritted my teeth and was about to leave but I turned to him again. "And please do not live in delusion. I'm sorry again but we are not made for each other."
I took my purse and zoomed out of the restaurant. Jarring panic hit my form, drops of sweat lining down my face as I started down the pavement, in hopes to grab his volcanic sight. My uneven breaths and the constant frown on my forehead was swallowing me obnoxiously when I couldn't find him.
He shouldn't be far, I have to find him.
He has got the wrong idea and I was pretty sure he would be ready to snap a hundred heads but would prefer not talking to me right now. In fact, anyone would fix that. However, in such a situation I couldn't do anything but search for him, I need to search for him before he sets his mind to stick to what he saw.
That's when by my great God's will I saw him walking down the pedestrian lane and didn't waste a second to follow him.
"Lucas!" I called out, gaining balance on the right time when I nearly tripped on my own footing, saving myself an embarrassing scene.
He didn't stop. He wouldn't.
"Lucas!"
Still, he chose to ignore. His fast walking and my running pace were far to be comparable and I was quickly gaining on him. When I felt him in my arm's reach, I latched onto his arm and pulled him to a stop.
He turned around and nothing on his face showed how disturbed he was. His eyes though—they were darker than the pure obsidian, but didn't hide the fact how hurt and dejected he felt which I had caused—no which Michael had caused. He felt betrayed and I don't want him to stick to that. No, he needs to know that I wasn't with his plans.
"Lucas, please listen—" I panted, hurrying to catch on my breath.
"Heaven, leave. My. Hand." The softness and gentle tune I was accustomed to had vanished in his voice, shifting into more demon and violent one. He never used such a tone with me, I liked him better when he spoke so kindly to me, I didn't like this Lucas who gave daggers through his eyes. He looked furious and ready to punch someone.
"Listen—"
"Leave my fucking hand," he spat in a dangerously low voice, his orbs bursting with gold specks and teeth showing off of his lips. He took shock as his sign and ripped his arm from my grip and rushed away from me.
I stood there motionless and helpless, watching him go away. Tears trickled down my face, my voice crushing with unstoppable sobs. If I was ever in his place I would've shoved curses in his head and made him regret out of his mind. I even would've slapped him if he were to stop me as I did.
He wasn't wrong but I wasn't too either. It wasn't like I had accepted him and rejected Alpha Lucas. Then why was my heart breaking into pieces like I had stabbed a person right in his heart million times? I fell on my knees on the spot, cupping my eyes and letting out the oceans from my eyes.
