I tossed my empty plate in the washbasin, cleaning my washed hands with the cloth. The cook was back again and I was glad that I didn't have to cook anymore.
I swear cooking was a pain in my head.
I hadn't seen Alpha Lucas after that period incident which was yesterday, I couldn't point whether his absence was because of the horrible smell of my blood or the awkward air that would create after the awkward reveal.
I walked into my room kicking the door behind me when I heard the door click open and close downstairs.
Turning back I quickly climbed down the stairs to come to see Lucas looking dog-tired like he had been running all around the grounds twenty-four by seven. He gave me a glance and smiled, bags under his eyes thick and clear.
"Where have you been?" I worriedly looked at him from top to bottom, his sky blue shirt showed the black dirt near his breasts.
"On run and office," he said, closing the door behind him.
I stopped the door before it could close and stepped in with him.
"Do you want me to get you your breakfast or would you like me to prepare something for you?"
He huffed. "I'm not sure."
"I'll just let you take some rest." I turned around, pulling the doorknob to leave.
"Wait."
"What? You need something?"
"My parents called just now, they are on their way to the pack," he said. "They'll be here before three."
My eyes widened. "Today!?"
He slumped down the bed and spoke with half-closed eyes, "Don't worry, use your wolfsbane spray. They won't be able to smell you."
"Can you smell it now?"
He smirked. "I can, but I'm trying not to."
"It's awful, isn't it?" I contritely spoke. He was away from his house because of me, it wasn't my fault that my periods had to show up now it's not a thing to be stoppable either, but didn't feel right that he had to go through that.
"It's bad but it's alright. I should learn to live with it anyway," he said.
What he said was quite difficult to get used to but it was true anyway. I had to live with him now and since I have started liking him it would be easier staying here I guess.

"Welcome, Mrs Anderson," I greeted with a cheery smile.
The lady practically jumped with joy when she saw me, muttering how beautiful I was for his doofus son.
She embraced me in her arms, her hugs reminded me how tightly Skylar used to hug me.
"Oh my, Heaven. God!" She excitedly released a gasp. "I'm so proud that my son has found such a nice girl."
"Pleasure to meet you, Mrs Anderson."
"Why don't you start calling me mother-in-law." She gave me a lopsided smile. I visibly gaped at her bluntness, she reacted to my reaction, "Stick to Meryl."
I nodded as she smiled at me before stepping aside
"Welcome, Mr Anderson." I smiled.
He pulled his hand out for me to shake. "Please call me Lance."
I shook his hand. "Alright."
His father was more like Lucas-I mean Lucas was more like his father, but his father looked smarter than his son with that grey hair, stiff personality and strict diet. He didn't look so free like his son but more like those strict perfection-seekers ex Alpha. But I was happy to see his wife so carefree and jovial, it seemed Lucas was the second copy of his mother in character-wise and his dad personality-wise.
For dinner, I had helped the cooks at the main packhouse with everything in the happiness that their ex Alpha and Luna had come after a very long break. The cooks were polite and had explained to me how they cooked a few dishes which I had never seen or heard in my life. But one particular cook was very kind and a nice young lady in her late twenties and cherry hair. Her name was Bella, it was shocking to hear that she had triplets with her mate, all three boys. I hadn't met them but I could tell the way she explained about them they were cool and very naughty.
I set the dining table when Lucas came into the kitchen, the delicious smell of the food was what brought him to the kitchen. I slapped his hand when he tried to take a pizza slice, he pouted, acting like a child and going back to take his seat instead of his father's seat.
"Oh my!" Meryl exclaimed looking at the food. "This so much reminds me of the days when I used to be the Luna."
My eyes caught hers as she gave me a bright smile, I took a seat beside Lucas on the table.
My heart warmed when Lucas served me a plate more than enough, he smiled and winked when I looked at him.
"Awww, I can already see the future," Meryl giggled, flushing my face even more when I heard a few chuckles from others.
The dinner wasn't what I had expected, I thought it would go smooth and silent but people over here were brimming with different topics. Lucas placed his warm hand on mine, I glanced at him only to observe that he was talking to his father, silently reassuring me that he was there.
These things were the reason. The reason for me to fall deeper for him. I'm afraid he could be even spelt as love.
But I didn't dare to admit it.
Meryl called me out for a walk when she was done meeting with her friends and other pack members. I had agreed politely with her.
The night like all other nights was very cool, what can one expect in mid-winter.
Meryl stuffed her hands in the red fluffy coat, breathing in the calmness of her pack.
"Are you happy?" She unexpectedly asked.
"Happy? What do you mean by that?"
She looked at me. "I heard about your behaviour with my son and the pack. You weren't very comfortable with the news. You even tried to hide like the Female Beta. I wondered if something was wrong with the pack."
"It's nothing, everything is going fine. I'm comfortable now," I tried to convince her.
"You are a human and I understand how your view works about us. I'm not blaming you," she chuckled. "As a mother, I'm just pleading with you to be with my son. He had always waited for his mate and wanted nothing but her-I mean you. I get it that it's hard for you to wrap your head around everything but my mother instinct just kicks in. I don't want my son to be sad about anything."
I nodded. "I understand what you mean."
She came to a stop abruptly causing me to cease my steps too, her facial expression shifting to serious. "Do you like him?"
She turned to look at me, I gulped suddenly feeling very warm. Her question was unexpected and the answer to it was clear on my face but hidden due to the weather.
"To be honest, I was very scared when I found out that Alpha Lucas was my mate, the head Alpha of the country. As his position, I thought he would be like those tough Alphas too. I was terribly scared of what would happen to me if Lucas was like those over-possessive, respect demanding Alphas." She softly gazed at me, admitting that there were jerks like that.
"But the fact that your son is nothing like that makes me happy. Happy that I could have someone who I always wanted as a life partner and the answer to your question I do. I like him a lot."
Her face broke out in pure joy, embracing me in her motherly arms. "I'm relieved, thank you."
"It was meant to happen when you have such a respectful son."
She gazed at me, teary showing at the edges. "My hard work is bringing colour to his life. I had always wanted him to be like me, not his father. My mate was exactly how you loathed, it was hard keeping up with him but I somehow managed to change a portion of him."
"I didn't want my son to turn out like him and I succeeded." She giggled.
"You indeed did," I said.
