Chapter 5 - Decision

Callon stared at Gregor, not knowing how to reply. Gregor suddenly had a thought and decided to speak it out.

"I heard your discussion about the academy, so I assumed that you were interested. In order to go there, you must pass three tests. You must be under the age of 18, have a soul companion, and at least be in the profound realm. The academy will be open for testing again in three months. I overheard you mentioning how you have just awakened; would you like me to test your level? I don't know how, but you are able to hide your level and look like an ordinary person, but I won't ask for your secrets."

Once again, Callon was confused just then he heard the words of Neil in his head.

"Big brother, because I use shadow magic, it is able to disguise your power level which can be good for hiding. Would you like for me to remove it, so you do not have to do or touch anything weird?"

Callon gently nodded his head. Gregor took it as him acknowledging wanting to be tested and a visible smile appeared once again on his face until he felt a sudden change. He suddenly felt the aura of a Spirit rank cultivator. He could not control the shock from appearing on his face. Not only was he shocked, but everyone in the Spirit Hall were also shocked. They had overheard Callon say that he had just awakened today, this means he must be a genius!

While everyone was shocked, Callon was confused by the looks on everyone's faces.

"Big brother, because of Neil and I using your spirit power to the point of empty all of these years, your body was ranking itself up and didn't show until we awakened. You are a Spirit rank cultivator. I can understand the shock on their faces, but it does not matter. We will just continue to grow stronger together so ignore their surprised faces." As Reil was speaking to him, Callon could hear the arrogance and pride in her voice. He could not stop himself from letting out a small chuckle.

Callon looked at Gregor and Aden, making sure to look at Aden a few seconds longer before looking back at Gregor.

"I am 16 years old as of a few days ago. I am a Spirit rank cultivator and I have two soul companions. I think I pass all the tests. I just have one question." As Callon spoke, he turned his gaze back to Aden again before speaking once more. "Will you also be going to this academy Aden?"

Aden stared at him confused by his question, and then he once again felt a blush creep onto his face for a reason unknown to him, quickly he looked away. Without a second thought, he had already nodded his head after looking away.

Suddenly there was a gentle laugh that could be heard from Callon.

"Alright then Gregor. I wanted to live a free life and learn my way from traveling but seeing as I've met Aden, there's no way I could just leave him now. I'll be there at the academy in three months for the testing." Callon looked back at Aden with a bright smile on his face before turning back to Gregor once again with an indifferent expression.

Gregor stood there confused, he could not help blurting out a question that is on everyone's mind.

"Why is it that you have decided to go to the academy for the boy? Why is it that you only smile at him, but look indifferently at everyone else?"

Callon stood there, debating on how to answer the question in a subtle way. Right when he was about to answer, Reil loudly shouted "BIG BROTHER LIKES ADEN!"

Callon didn't know how to immediately react to this outburst and then he suddenly burst out laughing. Slow he replied to Gregor while staring directly into Aden's eyes.

"I just have to desire to protect and be near him. That is all I know of these feelings at this moment."

As Callon slowly spoke, Aden blushed as bright as a tomato and ran away. As he was running, you could hear Enver yelling "Aden looks forward to seeing you at the academy!"
