Chapter [04]

I stood by my locker, waiting for Smiley to come down the hallways, and quickly she did come down with her friend J. He's a Hispanic guy with curly hair who's as tall as her, and he's a freshman too. I walked up to them- "Good morning Smiley." I grinned at her as she smiled, "You kept me awake last night- didn't you?" She chuckled at me as J smirked, "So... You two were together last night?" J asked as Smiley shook her head, "We were just texting all day yesterday." She explained as I nodded, "Oh, ok. I have to go meet up with the soccer team- see you at gym?" J asked Smiley as she nodded, "Later, J." She waved as he ran off, "So... You two have Phys Ed together?" I asked as she nodded.

"Did you know some classes are usually together since our gymnasium is too small for all the lessons to be in?" She explained as she walked.

"Together? What do you mean?" I asked as she seemed curious? "Haven't you noticed that your class partners up with another class, whether it's to run the track or to be inside the activity room and gym." She explained as I nodded. "But aren't their five classes at a time?" I asked as she nodded. "The last class goes to health, to learn the body~." She winked as I grinned. "And more, correct?" She nodded.

/Time skip/

I wore these stupid gym shorts since the school requires us to wear uniforms for physical education, the girls look adorable, but the guys seem awkward. I walked out of the locker room, smoothing out my hair as I started to walk by myself to the track- following the rest of my class.

"Hey, did you hear were working with the freshmen's today? I heard one of the girls has really thick legs; want to go check it out?" A guy blabbed to his mate as his friend nodded, they ran off, and out of curiosity- I followed slowly behind them to the front of the crowd. As soon as I arrive, I see a bunch of guys drooling over a girl walking. Her hips swayed slowly, and her legs were a bit big near the calves, but somehow they complimented her thighs and hips well.

I only stared at the back of her, but I could tell she was shy- her fingers were nervously twitching by her side, perhaps because she could feel the stares of teenage boys on her. She had two friends by her side, a boy and a girl, which is why the majority of her body seemed calm. Her hair swayed freely in the air, and she didn't seem to care about the super short shorts which popped her... Behind a bit more.

The guy next to her turned around, and it was J- quickly, he patted the other girl next to the shy girl, and they both ran ahead of the girl I observed. "Guys-" That voice is familiar, I tapped the girl's arm, and she looked at me. "Smiley," I said as she breathed in relief, "Ad! I'm so glad we are working with your class now!" She grabbed my hands in happiness. "Yes, agreed," I responded as we started to walk normally, "As you can see- my friends have left me. Mind keeping a girl company- that is, if you don't mind." She said as I shook my head, "I don't mind, I would love to, in fact."

We walked for a while, "Have you made new friends here?" She asked as I shook my head. "Everyone around here seems a bit too different for me," I said as she smiled, "No one's really like one another, so I see that as normal."

"That is true..." I agreed as she nudged my shoulder, "But maybe you should try going up to people first? That's an interesting way to make friends." She grinned. Quickly I saw two arms wrap around Smiley's neck; I noticed the girl hugging her and J. "You two left me!" Smiley pushed the girl and J. "Eh- but Justin said you would've liked to be alone with this guy." She said, as I felt confused, "Who's Justin?" I asked when J stared at me. "I'm Justin; everyone just calls me J since there are many other Justin's..." He said as I blushed in stupidity.

"I-I thought your name was Jay..." I spoke as they all stared; out of nowhere, Justin burst out laughing along with Smiley and the girl following his lead. I felt stupid, so I rubbed my arm, as Smiley noticed, rubbing my shoulder. "It's ok hun, we all have our dumb moments. Besides, it was cute."

She muttered as they nodded. "With that being said, let me introduce myself. I'm Nicole, but they call me Nic." Nic put her hand out to me as I smiled, shaking her hand. "Anyhow, are you guys interested in the R.U.N Contest this year?" Justin asked as Nic groaned, "I'll just run the first part and then give up during the second round." Nic explained. "Well, I won't; I'll start training again, and hopefully, I'll beat the boys this year," Smiley said as Justin laughed, "Tough luck Sue, you lost last year to the boys." Justin laughed as she seemed a bit down. "What's this R.U.N Contest?" I asked.

"It's a running competition between the entire school; each class races the boys against the boys and girls to girls to see who are the top two winners from each class and then run them against the same grade classes until there are four participants who run the last course finalizing one winner who gets a prize." Smiley grinned as Justin and Nic nodded.

"Last year Smiles over here got into the final round in middle school, but she lost to a boy. She came fourth in all." Justin said as Nic nodded, "Justin and I don't try- we just do the first race since it's a grade end, then quit." Nic explained. "WELL, I'LL SHOW YOU GUYS THIS YEAR! I'LL WIN!" Smiley said, determined as I nodded, "I'll try to win too then." I said as she smiled, nodding. "I won't go easy on you, Ad." "I don't expect you too."
