/Intro/

 I fell in love with her smile because it was odd- her words were sweet, but she looked strange. Her smile would unwind once she was alone, her eyes narrowed in tiredness, her legs looked weak, her arms almost dropping her books, and her stomach growling out of hunger, but- around others, she played the part of a hero with a smile. She saved many, helped others, defended herself, and took care of everyone, no matter what. She acted one way but was another- everyone saw her as a perfect doll, but I only saw a broken girl giving a smile for everyone because it brightened their days- her smile made them happy, and it made her happy too.

He wasn't like regular people; he didn't push me aside- he kept me close. He wanted to hear me, see the real me, and that scared me. He was able to tell the truth, see what others didn't, fight for what he wanted or knew what was right, no matter what I did- he always saw the happiness... why was he ok with being rejected? Why was he ok with pushing me over the finish line? Why was he ok with losing? Why was he ok with anything I said? Why was he ok with me yelling at him? Why was he ok with me? Why did he want me?

First Glance

  I watched Adrian hand me drinks repeatedly; I didn't want to get drunk, but if it were for him- I would do anything.  At some point, my head became dizzy, and I fainted in Adrian's arms.  "It's ok, baby. I'll take care of you-" he sounded so genuine, but his grin scared me...


  Slowly I fell asleep- after a while, I heard a noise.  I felt my body hurting- I opened my eyes to see Adrian standing over me... Naked.  I panicked and tried to get him off my body, but he tied me up- kissing me shut.


  I was awake the entire night- I watched Adrian do... What he did, and all I felt was the pain.  Immediately I ran to the bathroom, throwing up my stomach, crying in agony, and slowly I noticed Adrian come in.


  I wanted to hope it was just the alcohol that made him do that but fully sober and in front of me- he held the angriest glare I've ever seen.


  My hope was gone- my hero was now just a monster in disguise.


  The days after it became worse, he would use me like a toy and then slowly start to abuse me over the smallest things.


  I haven't seen Sue in days because he won't let me; I've tried to call her too, but he keeps assuming I'm cheating, so I can't do anything.


  I heard a knock on the door to see Sue, and she held a worried expression.


  "Hey, where have you been? I've missed you!" she said with a hopeful smile as I sighed, "Yeah, um... I'm busy right now so text me later...?"


  Sue looked disappointed but was about to leave until Adrian yelled, "WHO ARE YOU TALKING TO!?" Sue pushed open the door, seeing Adrian walk to us.  "It's just Sue, baby! Nothing to worry about!" 


  I tried to stay calm, but he glared at Sue.  "What is she doing here?" Adrian asked me, but quickly Sue pulled me behind her and stared at him- "I'll answer that question- I came on my own account." She spoke, and he seemed annoyed- "Get her out of here." he asked as I was about to not, but Sue seemed agitated.


  "Don't talk to her- ask me like a man." she blurted- "Know your place, woman." he growled at Sue- "Or what?" she tempted.  He was about to slap her until she grabbed his wrist- "Woah- that is not ok, bud!" she seemed annoyed, kicking him in the balls.


  Sue made me some tea, "Would you like to stay here for tonight?" she asked, passing me the drink.  "I...I'm sorry for being a bother- I'm sorry I strained your relationship with Addy." I busted into tears.


  "It's ok; I don't regret what happened. Addy and I understand each other- I'm more worried about you... and your baby." 


  She looked at my stomach, seeming to have a question in mind.  "What are you going to do with it?" She asked, "Whatever you choose, I will stand behind the decision." she explained, and all I thought was- "I don't know yet."
