/Intro/

 I fell in love with her smile because it was odd- her words were sweet, but she looked strange. Her smile would unwind once she was alone, her eyes narrowed in tiredness, her legs looked weak, her arms almost dropping her books, and her stomach growling out of hunger, but- around others, she played the part of a hero with a smile. She saved many, helped others, defended herself, and took care of everyone, no matter what. She acted one way but was another- everyone saw her as a perfect doll, but I only saw a broken girl giving a smile for everyone because it brightened their days- her smile made them happy, and it made her happy too.

He wasn't like regular people; he didn't push me aside- he kept me close. He wanted to hear me, see the real me, and that scared me. He was able to tell the truth, see what others didn't, fight for what he wanted or knew what was right, no matter what I did- he always saw the happiness... why was he ok with being rejected? Why was he ok with pushing me over the finish line? Why was he ok with losing? Why was he ok with anything I said? Why was he ok with me yelling at him? Why was he ok with me? Why did he want me?

First Glance

  I was coming back from work, whistling to a little song.  I spend most of my days with Nicole; the other half is school/work, and then the rest is just whatever happens.  I checked the mail and spotted many bills, random coupons, packages, and many school report cards.  "Nicole's, Ad's, and... Sue's. I guess mines hasn't come in yet-" I started walking into the house and ran into Alyra- "Hey- sorry-" "It's cool."


  She immediately started walking out the door- "Hey- are you sure?" I grabbed her wrist, and immediately she pulled it away and yelled, "I'M FINE!" 


  I was startled, but she apologized and left.  I glanced at Nicole, and she shrugged, "I don't know if she is ok... She seems a bit on defense lately." Nicole shrugged.


  "Maybe I should-" "No, I think it's better if you leave her alone for now," Nicole explained, a bit sad- "I didn't mean to-" She nodded and patted a seat next to her at the kitchen table.


  "She'll come around. Don't worry." Nicole comforted me as I calmed down, putting the mail down.  "Sooo, you have mail!" I gave her school report card to her.


  She opened it and gave a disappointed smile, sighing, "I knew I got all D's, how pathetic." she ripped up the paper.  I grabbed one of the packages and patted it- "Hey, I got you something."


  Her eyes narrowed while she crossed her arms, "For what? My birthday isn't coming up." I shrugged and gave a grin, "Can't I just give a gift to show how much I love you?" She rolled her eyes as I passed the box; she opened it and immediately blushed.  "Y-You bought the latest edition of my favorite yaoi!?" she jumped with a huge smile.


  "Yep, and not only that." I moved my backpack to her; she opened it- "MY COLLECTION! Did you go to my house and grab these!?" she looked so happy.


  "Mhm, I knew you were going to stay here for a while, so why not bring your stuff over to make you more at home?" Nicole jumped into my chest, hugging me.  "T-Thank you..." She let me go and grabbed the books, "I'll be back; I'm going to set these books downstairs in my room." she ran off.  I quickly saw Sue, noticing Nicole rush downstairs.  "Is she ok?" 


  "Mhm, I just got her a few gifts—no big deal." I felt myself smile.  "Oh, really? I have a gift for you too!" Sue smiled and quickly came over, putting a piece of paper on the table.  It was my report card- opened.


  "I can explain-" I could feel the anger from Sue's body- "You better, you little sh*t." I grabbed Sue and dragged her to my room, locking the door.  "I have been super busy with work and stuff that I don't have time to do school work." I tried to explain as Sue's eye slowly twitched.


  "Justin, you promised that you would try harder in school so you can take the test to skip a grade and go into your original grade. YOU ALREADY F*CKING FAILED; WHY AREN'T YOU TRYING!" She yelled as I felt a little tense, "I just... I need to keep Nicole sane." I blurted, but it wasn't the truth.


  "You know, I was so proud when you promised me, but-" She caught her breath and started walking out the door.  "I'm disappointed, if anything." as soon as the door shut- I don't know why but my eyes teared up.  "What the h*ll..." I tried rubbing my eyes, but they kept coming until it all set in.  My body dropped onto my bed, and my heart just ached- "I'm sorry..."
