A little chat

"Soren," his face twisted into an angry grimace as he let his bloodlust loose, "Why would you care you blank faced bastard?"

I released my bloodlust full force in response. His face went pale.

"All or nothing huh?" Soren mumbled under the pressure of my bloodlust.

It all clicked in that moment. I knew his voice. I'd heard it more than once this week.

{I know him.} I spoke telepathically to Ethan.

My head was rarely this clear so I knew he heard it.

"What do you mean you know him?" Ethan shouted.

"Idiot," I snapped my eyes his direction as I mentally shouted at him as well.

My bloodlust vanished the instant Ethan spoke out what I didn't want him too.

"Why wasn't he affected by your bloodlust?" Soren looked at me with a confused expression, "You two are linked." his expression cleared up, "I've never seen a pack bond outside of the pack. Where did you meet me? I've never seen you before I came to this school."

I gave him a light jolt before letting go.

"Dragonbeast," I offered him my hand as understanding lit up his face, "Ethan let the other one go."

"Why?" Ethan's eyes lit up as he drew out more of his innate ability.

"They're willing to listen to us now," I brought my hand up to my mouth slowly.

"This one is taking almost a quarter of my current strength to pin down as it is," Ethan started exerting a bit more force on the wolf that was pinned.

I bit into my own hand. It wasn't easy to get through my tough skin, but I was prepared to take a chunk out of my hand if I needed to. Ethan flinched, and rubbed his own hand where I'd bit mine.

"God dammit," Ethan had already dropped the wolf he'd been pinning when he yelled at me.

"This close to me you probably felt the full brunt of my pain," I huffed out a breath.

The other wolf was already fully transformed when he leapt at Ethan, but compared to Soren he was painfully slow. He didn't even see the lightning I shot at him before it hit.

"That's enough," Soren spoke in a normal voice as I healed up my hand.

"But," Big wolf's voice was distorted by his big teeth.

"I said that's enough," Soren looked at me, "We're going to talk to them a bit."

"I didn't want to fight you in the first place," I used my water element to start healing him.

Only a few drops. I didn't want to startle him by healing him all at once. He looked surprised by the fact that I was healing him but didn't question it.

"So why did you want to chat with us?" Soren ignored the dirty look his packmate gave him, "Dragonbeast?"

"You're the one that wanted to talk to me," I snorted.

"I've never seen a mage like you," Soren sniffed the air as he tried to make it look casual, "You don't even smell human. How do you manage to control the beast within, and elemental magic?"

The matter of fact way he said it surprised me.

"The beast within?" My confusion would have probably been obvious if it wasn't for my deadpan expression.

Warning. Spell limits exceeded.

Spell limits exceeded? Pain flooded my entire being making me stumble back. What spell? Ethan flinched as well, but I cut off that portion of the bond before he could feel the full brunt of my pain. It was almost as bad as the day I became a dragon.

My ears rang as my eyes turned back to their normal colors. Soren, and big guy tensed up as if I was going to attack.

"Wyatt?" Ethan grabbed my shoulder making the ringing in my ears stop abruptly, "What is it? You cut me off all of a sudden."

"Backlash," I could feel my muscles trembling, "My spell failed."

Both wolves flinched looking away from me for a moment.

"Is that?" the big one looked at me cautiously.

"Yeah," Soren started transforming as he looked at me, "They're both dead."

"I'm not going anywhere very fast," I hissed through my teeth, "You'll have no problem catching up to me."

I could feel my horns, tail, and wings starting to form painfully slowly. Scales started growing on my back, and head first. It was painfully slow, and made my breaths come in pained gasps. The wolves looked me over one more time before taking off towards another part of the park.

"Help me follow them," I growled at Ethan.

"Why?" Ethan frowned.

"Somethings wrong," I frowned as I tried to follow them myself.

****

I rushed through the park with Grett by my side. In the forest when wolves moved as a pack there was nothing that could escape us. Whatever was in these woods killed two of us easily. I could smell the blood now. I stopped just out of sight of the killer.

The darkening sky helped my almost black coat blend into the darkness of the trees. I slunk closer slowly. I had no intention of letting them live. Not after they killed one of my own. A snarl made it to my face as I slowly closed in on the smell of blood.

"Wolves," I heard a voice chuckle in the darkness, "They like their packs don't they?"

The smell of rot reached my nose about the same time his voice reached my ears.

"A wraith," I gave up hiding.

Wraith's hunt by heat. There was no point in hiding. The way they fight is disgusting. I clenched my teeth angrily. Truthfully disgusting.

I stepped out of the trees carefully.

"So that's the shell your wearing," I growled as I looked him up than down.

The scrawny faced kid in front of me was covered in blood. The eyrie glowing green light that replaced the white of his eyes, and the chill in the air that surrounded him gave him an ethereal quality that reminded me of a demon in the flesh. The body he chose was another problem in itself. The kid the wraith possessed had an almost snake like face that made me flinch.

"I'm surprised," I frowned, "That body actually suits you."
