< Third Person >
Aaron and Stephen looked at each other in complete confusion.
"Why?" Stephen asked.
'I am the Goddess of the Trees,' she said. 'If I would be compared to your beliefs, I'm like their Moon Goddess.'
"And what makes you so curious about our mate?" It was Aaron who asked this time.
'I'm curious as to why the Moon has taken a liking to him. Like a mother to a child, you might say.'
"Is that your only reason?" Aaron quirked his brow.
She nodded, 'Why of course. I do not wish any harm to come down upon any of you. Besides, as the Whitewind Maiden, I am not allowed to go out of the Whitewind Haven. If I do this place will collapse. This place I call my home.'
The alphas looked at each other one more time before they told the Maiden everything about Klyde. About how they met, how they fell in love, how they made love and everything. The Maiden was surprisingly interested. She was nodding every time.
'I see that you truly love him,' she said. 'Very well, I grant you permission to pluck three Whitewind Flowers. But only three. The number that signifies the fruit of your love.'
"Thank you," the alphas chorused and ran to the colossal of a tree. The hole that the flowers were blooming was located a few meters up. They had to leap and hold on to the thick crinkled bark of the seemingly branch-less tree.
"Is this it?" Aaron asked as they walked over to a cave-like hole. It was bright inside. The tree was hollow and a hole was above them, the sun shining over the garden of flowers.
Aaron picked one and so did Stephen. Them being alpha wolves had to pick the third one together as to equalize their ego.
'The Sun God takes care of the flowers every day and the Moon Goddess takes care of them every night,' the Maiden said. She walked like she was floating, not moving a leg and letting her dress weave through the ground. 'Promise me one thing. Should Klyde returns to his consciousness, do not let him seek the Witxh. This warning goes for you too.'
"And why not?" Aaron growled.
Stephen stopped his mate and talked rather calmly, "She almost killed our mate in her lust for power. Why can't we hunt her?"
'She grows more powerful every single day,' the Maiden said. 'Olivia has even reached the surface of the darkness. If she goes in deeper, you're all going to die in vain.'
"That why we'll stop her before she could get even stronger," Aaron argued.
The Maiden shook her head. 'Your powers are no match for her. Not unless…'
"No," both the alphas chorused.
"We will not resort to that," Stephen said seriously. "We will never."
'Then you have to unlock your Gifts,' the Maiden smirked. 'It is time for your mate to wake up.'
"Wait, how can we unlock it?" Aaron yelled when they were slowly being eaten away by the fog.
'Under the moon, all lovers vow. Under its light, three becomes one. United not just in body but also in mind. With the three rings on the fourth sun.'
The fog got thicker until the Maiden completely vanished.
'Good luck alphas, save your mate.'
The two awoke and sat up. They were at the entrance of the forest, laying down and basking under the moonlight.
They looked at each other and nodded, "Klyde."
Running inside, the alphas directly ran to the medical wing. Everyone was looking at them in shock but still nodded in respect.
"Klyde!" they yelled when they got inside.
Bryce walked over to them, "Are those the flowers?"
"Yes." Stephen handed him the flowers. "Heal him, please."
"You do not need to beg, Alpha," Bryce said and excused himself. "I will come back in a few minutes. With Luna Klyde."
The two fell down to the chairs, their hope was flaming after getting the flowers. But what the Maiden said still lingered on their minds.
"Was it a riddle?" Aaron asked.
Stephen shrugged and sighed, "I think so. But she lacked rhyme though."
This made Aaron chuckle. He held his mate's hand and kissed his cheek. "We often don't get to do this."
"Yeah," Stephen let out and gripped Aaron's hand. "I kind of like us focusing more on Klyde, but this ain't bad."
The medical wing's door opened and Margaret walked in, "Alphas, Alpha Jonathan is here with his mate."
The two did not let go of each other's hands. They stood to greet their guests.
"What brings you here, Jon?" Aaron asked.
"I was initially going to invite you to our wedding, but we heard what happened to your mate," Jonathan said. "Instead, we'll have to move it to a later date. We want the three of you to attend. I know how stubborn you two are so I figured that you won't come if your mate is in this condition."
Gail mate elbowed him and scoffed.
"That was stupid, I mean baby, of course, I won't attend a wedding if…" he paused, looked around and saw everyone staring at him, and cleared his throat. "We'll talk about that later. Well, you know. We're still planning on a date. We will tell you when the new date is."
"You don't have to move it." A voice made everyone snap their heads to the side.
Klyde was sitting in a wheelchair, looking pale and thin.
"Baby!" the two alphas lunged and engulfed their mate with a hug. "Babe we thought we were going to lose you. F*ck."
"Don't ever do that again," Aaron said and kissed Klyde.
"What was this about a wedding?" Klyde asked.
Jonathan cleared his throat, "Well, my mate and I are going to get married soon. But seeing as you're okay now, we invite you to come on the original date."
"Do you really need a wedding?" Klyde asked. "Isn't the mating ritual enough?"
"Well, the mating ritual is just a part of being one with your mate," Jonathan's mate said. "You still have to say your vows, put on the ring, and have awesome married lovemaking under the moon. The Moon Goddess must be a perv, I don't know."
Gail's remark put on a smile on Klyde's lips. His other words lit up a lightbulb over the heads of his mates.
Rings.
Vows.
Becoming one.
They kneeled on each side of Klyde on one knee. "Klyde, will you marry us?"
