Chapter 2

Blood Myth Pack

Alexander POV

'Lex! It's time to get up, don't make me have to come get you.' My mother, current Luna of The Blood Myth Pack, Lexi Overtime. I could hear Shakira playing from the kitchen, and groaned at how old my parents were. 'Could you play it any louder' I mind linked my mom, I got the sense that she was laughing at me as the offending music got louder. Rolling over and rubbing a hand over my face, I reach over and tap my phone to see what time it is, I let out a growl when I realized she woke me up at 7am. I guess I needed to get up and pack me and my Beta

Jason were going to the Redwood Pack today for a few weeks. This happens every few years as the younger pups come into age of their wolves, we all get together to celebrate and form a peaceful bond between the packs, being as I was now 19 and everyone else there would be younger than both me and Jason I didn't really want to go. My family reminded for months straight that if I didn't go it would be a sign of aggression to the other packs.

I mind linked Jason to remind him to pack as we were leaving along with all young pack members who hadn't had their first shift yet. All the packs gathering would bring their unshifted and unmated pack members, in hopes that after they shifted, they would find their mates. Most pups normally shift at 16 years old and sometimes find their mate. They then have two years to get to know each other and decide what pack they will belong to afterwards. My hopes were high that I would finally find my mate this year, the last time this celebration was held was when I was 16, and in the three since I never once had the sense that mate was near. It was really being getting to get on my nerves, mainly because Onyx was getting more and more restless each year. He wanted to leave the pack and go looking for our mate, but we couldn't, we were the next in line to lead we couldn't just up and leave. They needed us here, Onyx knew and understood that but he still didn't like it.

Onyx was a mean little shit, who tended to be more aggressive then need be, so I always had to have a tight grip on my emotions. The tiniest slip could lead to a massive mistake that would ruin this pack. When I was 13 a group of older boys from another pack had ganged up on my beta and I lost it and damn near killed them, that was 3 years before my first shift. After that incident my father sent to me to train for control for 3 years. Shaking my head and telling Onyx to shut up, I hopped out of the bed, and went to stand under the hot water. I walked to the sink, wiped off the steam, my tan, bronzed skin looked almost like copper gold. My hair pitch black, with the brightest blue eye anyone had ever seen. I make a few muscles at myself in the mirror, when I hear chuckling in my head. It's at that point I realized my father had opened his mind link to me, most like to tell me to hurry up, and could sense me indulging in my selfish ego pride. I blushed and put up my metal walls, after cursing him out.

I stomp downstairs thoroughly ticked off, I walked into the kitchen and sat at the table. Mom brought me over a plate and kissed my head like she does every morning. Mom sat down across from me, she had a huge smile on her face, I noticed her face was slightly pink and she was shaking in the tiniest way. I raised an eyebrow and looked at my father who quickly looked away from me. It then dawned on me that he told her about me flexing in the mirror. I groaned out loud and slide down my chair, covering my face with my hands. "I hate both of you." I whimpered. They all but died laughing at my embarrassment. Just then they rest of the high table walked in Jason my Beta, Shell, Jason's mom and my father's current Beta. She took the Beta position when her mate and Jason's father died in a war many years ago when she was pregnant.

Jason slapped his hand on my shoulder "Yo dude, why so low?"

I smacked his hand "How many times do I have to tell you to keep your hands to yourself... One of these days someone is going to help you remove your hands from your body." I slid back into place in the kitchen chair. "And when that happens, I'm going to laugh at you instead of help you Jason." I state.

Jason grabs his chest over his heart and fakes pain "Oh the pain man, you wound me with your words." he laughs out.

Shell slaps the back of his head "Act right you fool, you supposed to be an example for the younger ones in the pack to follow!" she scolds him.

I laugh hard at him; Jason rubs the back of his head and casts his eyes down in shame at being called out by his normally peaceful and calm mother.

My father chokes on his drink, tries to clear his throat "If he is the example, they are to follow I have no hope for the future of this pack." he jokes and smiles at the shocked expression across Jason's face.

Jason flops down in his chair to the right of me "You know if I didn't know any better, I'd say you guys are having a great deal of fun at my expense." he huffed

"No, no, you would be right we are. And it's a lot of fun." I state.

After breakfast I finish packing my items for the next two weeks, then give instructions to the pack members that will be going with up. With that we all pile into the awaiting six vans and set off for the Redwood pack land where the celebration is being held this year. I notice that Onyx is super quiet and I begin to wonder what awaits us in the next two weeks.
