WE ARE (NOT) THE GHOST BUSTERS!!

A bit of a recap, after Y/n left with Darkness for their Quest, me and Aqua visited a magic shop within Axel to meet an acquaintance that we met a while back. Her name was Wiz, and she was a Demon king general. Now she may have been a general, but she was only tasked on keeping the barrier of their "HQ" up. I asked Wiz to teach me a skill while keeping Aqua from purifying her out of existence. After that an old man came and asked us to exorcise a mansion in exchange for us getting to live in it. And now we stand in front of the mansion with the new member in tow, and Snowy, admiring the place.

~~<<3rd PERSON POV>>~~

Y/n: Holy, now this is a step up! Great job, Kazuma!

He gives Kazuma a toothy grin while giving a thumbs up then gets back to petting Snowy who eased into his touch.

Kazuma: yeah, I know.

Aqua: not bad! Yes, not bad at all! This should be a fitting place for me to live in!

She exclaims in excitement.

Megumin: wasn't this originally some aristocrat's villa?

Darkness: yes, but the landlord is certainly generous, allowing us to live here as a reward if we can be able to exorcize it.

Emerald: very generous.

Kazuma: Wiz is apparently known as a famous magician in our city.

Y/n: huh. That's neat.

Kazuma: it is, isn't it? And because of that, people often bring cases like this to her.

Aqua: with this, we can make it through winter without worry! Like they say, "make the best of a bad situation." nothing less from me!

Y/n: the same can be said about you. You may be dumb as a brick, but you can be useful at times if used right.

Aqua: hey! That's so mean!

Y/n: why you booing me? I'm right.

Kazuma: break it up you two.

Kazuma decide to break them up before anything happens as he continued.

Kazuma: so according to the Landlord. Spirits reappear instantly, no matter how many times they try to exorcize them.

Aqua: then you can leave that to me! I am a Goddess and an Arch priest!

Y/n: also an idiot.

Aqua: STOP!

Y/n: never!

Kazuma then bonked them both on the heads as they both simultaneously yelped in pain.

Y/n and Aqua: Ow!

Kazuma: I said stop.

They both rub their heads while the other people in their group look on as they sweat drop at the scene.

Emerald: wow... it's never a dull moment with you all.

Megumin: yup!

Darkness: absolutely.

They talked among themselves. After Kazuma was done scolding the two, Aqua was now doing her thing by extending her arms towards the Mansion as a glowing white light shone from her arms.

Everyone: ooh!~

Aqua: I see it, I see it! There was a child born in this mansion to an aristocrat who mad a move on his maid, partly for fun, and that illegitimate child was confined here at the mansion.

as she droned on and on, everyone just decided to ditch her as they made their way inside the mansion.... except Y/n.

Kazuma: hey, you coming dude?

Y/n: yeah... in a minute.

He says as he then squats next to Aqua as he listened to her droning on about the history of the mansion while Snowy had set itself on his shoulder. Kazuma just stared at him before shrugging his shoulders and making his way to the mansion with the others.

Aqua: -to the same illness as her father, passing away at a young age, lonely and alone, without ever knowing her parent's faces.

Y/n: interesting...

He mutters as he then took out a pack of trail mix and started eating it slowly as he listened to her.

Megumin gave a breath of satisfaction as they were done with cleaning the place.

Kazuma: that'll take care of the cleaning for now.

Darkness: we've decided the room arrangements, and we've carried our in our luggage, so all that's left to do is wait for night time.

Emerald: no surprise there, it was a little dusty... huh?

Emerald had gone over to a window and opened it to let fresh air in but she was met with Aqua still talking while Y/n literally sat there listening intently while slowly eating trail mix.

Aqua: the girl's name was Anna Eilante Estheroid. Her favorite things were stiffed dolls and tales of adventurers journeys.

Y/n: ooh~... *munch*

Y/n was like a kid during story time, he was very invested in the mansions and the ghost's story.

Aqua: but don't worry. This spirit isn't a bad girl. Whoa! She may be a child, but she appears to like things that are a bit grown up.

Y/n: ... information that I didn't need to know.

Kazuma walked over to the window and slowly shuts it with an unamused face. He turns to the other people in the group with a smile as he gives the first order of business.

Kazuma: okay! Everyone's free to do as they please from now on. Just call out if anyone see's anything supernatural. Dismissed!

He says as he finished with a raised fist while having a determined face.

Everyone: yeah!

Later, in the evening, everyone had went to their designated rooms as they ready themselves for slumber. Since Y/n wasn't with them when they all picked the rooms, Kazuma decided that he should join him in his since there were two beds. We see the two lying on their beds, appreciating the fact that they finally had a proper place to stay in.

Kazuma: man, this is great!

Y/n: you can say that again. I was really getting tired of having to pay overpriced rooms at the inns every time I want to sleep in a bed.

Kazuma: heh, you should try sleeping in the stable. My whole experience there was just miserable and painful. In a way.

Y/n: I guess.

A moment of silence was shared between the two boys as they thought about what to talk about next. After a bit, Kazuma had remembered something so and decides to talk to Y/n about it.

Kazuma: hey, quick question.

Y/n: yeah?

Kazuma: do you know a guy called... Yira Koshikage?

Y/n: no... well, not that I know of. Why?

Kazuma: well, when me and Aqua were headed to Wiz's shop, he kinda went up to us and asked us for directions.

Y/n: so? Whats wrong with asking directions?

Kazuma: well, the thing is... its not about what he asked, its about what he wore.

Y/n: please elaborate? I'm kinda lost here...

Kazuma: well, he was wearing a yellow suit and tie. He also had combed purple hair. Now, wearing a suit should be normal... but a suit that looks, that modern is too... Bizarre in this type of world.

Y/n: you think he's like us? Like he just got reincarnated or something?

Kazuma: I mean, it's the only thing we can say for now, So I guess so.

Suddenly, a scream of terror was heard in the mansion as the two shot up from their beds in a panic.

Y/n: Jesus Christ! The hell was that!?

Kazuma: I don't know, but it sounded urgent. Let's go!

They both then took off in the direction where the scream came from. When they finally reached it; which was Aquas room, Kazuma swiftly opened the door and immediately asked what was going on.

Kazuma: what's going on!?

Y/n: is it ghosts!? cause if it is, imma beat the shit out of it!

Kazuma: can you even do that?

Y/n: yes I can, actually.

Kazuma: huh.

Aqua: K-K-Kazuma! Y-Y/n!

She says in a saddened tone as she turns to the two boys. The two boys look at Aqua in worry, which then turned into a unamused expression.

Kazuma: hey.

Aqua: t-this is a super expensive liqueur that I've been saving. I was really looking forward to leisurely take my time drinking it after my bath... but when I came back into my room... IT WAS EMPTY!

She exclaims in sadness as she starts sobbing on the floor.

Y/n: truly disgusting that some "people" would do such a horrible thing!

He exclaims as small droplets of tears fell from his face as he sympathized with Aqua.

Kazuma: are you seriously sympathizing with her?

Y/n: I-its just... I can relate to what she's feeling right now. The disappointment, the sadness... the anger.

Kazuma: ... you know what? I'm not dealing with this. Goodnight. Ill see you all tomorrow.

Y/n: yeah, I'm done sympathizing, imma go sleep now.

He says as he bore a neutral expression on his face before leaving with Kazuma.

Aqua: this must be the work of the enemy Spirit!

She exclaims as she stood up with a fiery expression to her.

Aqua: I'm gonna rid this mansion of ghosts even if it's gonna take all night!

She says as she then bolts right in between the two boys before running down the hall while yelling a battle cry. The two look on as they shrug their shoulders before making their way back into their rooms.

Aqua: TURN UNDEAD! TURN UNDEAD! TURN UNDEAD! TURN UNDEAD! TURN UNDEAD! Natures beauty!~ TURN UNDEAD! TURN UNDEAD! TURN UNDEAD!

Aqua screams as she exorcizes all the ghosts she could see. It was the only thing that was heard most of the night.

It was late in the night. The howls of the owls were heard as the night grew dark. Kazuma tossed and turned in his sleep as something was bothering him. He opened his eyes as eh thought to himself.

Kazuma: 'I gotta go to the bathroom.'

Suddenly, a feint thud was heard as he looks over to where it was. He looked at a chair in the middle of the room that had a very creepy doll sitting on it. It's eyes, staring into his soul. He quickly turns away from the doll.

Kazuma: 'holy shit, that thing is creepy! ... wait! Was there a doll in here in the first place? M-maybe its just Y/n pranking me or something...'

He looks over his shoulder to peek over the other side where Y/n was sleeping soundly.

Kazuma: 'wait, he's asleep... s-s-so that means... !?'

Suddenly, feint scurrying was heard as it got closer, and closer and closer to him as Kazuma hoped that it was just nothing but a rat or something. Then it stopped. Silence filled the air as the suspense was slowly killing Kazuma in the inside. He whimpered a bit before deciding to grow some balls and turn around, but then was immediately exposed to the sight of a bunch of creepy ghost dolls surrounding him in his bed. Eventually, Kazuma stopped thinking... as he then immediately screams in fear and proceed to run out the room, still having a full bladder, screaming for Aqua to save him. Meanwhile, Y/n was woken up by the commotion as he groggily opened his eyes.

Y/n: what in the?- who in their right minds would make such a commotion this la-

He stops as he was met with a lone ghost doll staring straight into his soul. This went for a moment or to before he smirked while still staring at the doll.

Y/n: heh, that's cute. But I think mines better.

He tells the ghost doll before a silver aura covered him before [Making Mirrors] came out as it towered above the ghost doll. The ghost dolls eyes dilated in fear as it looked up at it's impending doom as [Making Mirrors] grabbed its head and sets the doll aside. He stood up then stretches, knowing that he's never gonna get sleep now.

Y/m: Good grief.

He mutters before walking out of the room. He strolled along the hallways while humming a tune. He would sometimes hear screams within the mansion but he really wasn't paying attention to that. While walking around, another doll had showed itself as it tried to give Y/n a jump scare, but failed as it stared at the boy who stood there, not giving a fuck since he was too tired to care about whats happening.

Y/n: ... cute. Hey, could you point me to the direction of a blue haired girl?

The doll stayed silent, still staring at the boy, before pointing in a direction.

Y/n: so, that way?

He asked as the doll then nods its head.

Y/n: thanks.

He says as he then goes in the direction the doll had directed him in.

Meanwhile, with Kazuma. He was standing in front of the bathroom door while Megumin was inside it, pissing.

Megumin: ... Kazuma? Are you there?

She asked, trying to make sure that he didn't just ditch her.

Kazuma: I'm here

Megumin: ...... Are you really there?

She asks again, trying to make sure that he really was there waiting for her to be finished.

Kazuma: I am here!

He says, a little bit annoyed at the crimson devil girl.

Megumin: ............ Are you really, REALLY there for me, right?

She asks again, still not sure about him being there when clearly he was.

Kazuma: I AM HERE! I'm right here! And I won't go until you're done so hurry up and piss already!

He yells at her as he feels like his bladder was about to burst at any given moment.

Megumin: ... um, this is kinda embarrassing to ask, but... could you maybe, sing me a song or something in a loud voice?

Kazuma: why do I have to sing in the middle of the night, in front of a bathroom!?

He questions as he desperately tries to not pee himself. Suddenly, a creak on the floor was heard as he slowly turns to look at the direction which it came from, with a look of fear. And right then and there, he saw a bunch of dolls peeking around a corner, staring at him intensely with their lifeless yet piercing eyes as his fight or flight response was activated as he ushers Megumin to hurry up while aggressively banging on the door.

Kazuma: MEGUMIN! HURRY THE HELL UP!!!

Megumin: Y-You can't just r-rush me like that!? I know your in a tough spot too!!

Kazuma: it's true that our bladders are in a tough spot, but we've got bigger problems right now, and they are closing in!!!

Megumin: b-but I can't go if you rush me like that!!

Kazuma: oh god! They almost here! Screw it! I'm coming in, Megumin!!!

He then forcefully pry's the door open to reveal Megumin still sitting on the toilet who then screams in surprise, Embarrassment, and fear as Kazuma quickly pulls her out of the toilet and immediately ran for it, not even giving Megumin the time to put her pajama pants on.

Megumin: How can someone have so little common sense!?

Kazuma: you at least got half way through, so quit complaining!

Megumin: w-what are you talking about? Crimson demons don't use bathrooms.

Kazuma: BULLSHIT! I'm already at my limit here, and your saying that now!?

He exclaims.

Megumin: I thought that might happen, so I brought this with me just in case. Please, use it.

She then shows him a vase that she had taken with her from the bathroom.

Kazuma: Like hell I will!

He screams at her for suggesting him to relieve himself on the vase.

After a bit of running, they had finally found refuge in the storage closet as a marching band of dolls walk right past the door, seemingly trying to look for the two people.

Kazuma: ... I really can't hold it in anymore... and at this point, I'd sooner use the vase...

Megumin: Darkness blacker than black and darker than dark, I beseech thee, combine thy power with my deep crimson.

For some odd reason, Megumin had started chanting her spell as she trembles in fear.

Kazuma: the hell you chanting for!? you wanna blow the whole place up and kill everyone!?

Suddenly, the door starts making noise as something was banging on it from the outside.

Kazuma: shit... we got no choice left. We'll need to go for it! Megumin, once I open the door, run! I'll use Drain Touch skill that I just learned and absorb the magic of as many dolls as I can!

And without hesitation, he unlocks the door before yelling out to the ghosts.

Kazuma: Bring it on, you evil spirits!!!

He then opens the door with as much force as he could but then the door stopped opening since it hit something hard. He peaks out to see Y/n on the floor, knocked out with a bunch of dolls on the floor.

Darkness: Y-Y/n! are you okay?

No response came from the Assassin as he still laid motionless on the floor, mouth agape and eyes rolled back and a huge swelling bump on his forehead.

Emerald: h-he's definitely knocked out cold.

Aqua: I'll go heal him up.

After the whole ghost situation, the sun had finally risen from the horizon as morning day had come. 3 out of the 6 people in our dysfunctional group of adventurers are now inside the guild hall as they were now in the process of accepting the reward for exorcizing the spirits in the mansion.

Luna: since you lot have successfully exorcized the evil spirits, you get a special reward. This was posted as a kill quest, but even the guild was bothered by how new evil spirits settled in no matter how many they exorcized.

Y/n: now that I think about it, Why did so many evil spirits gather there?

Y/n asked.

Luna: well, you see... there's a community graveyard near that mansion.

Aqua: community graveyard?

Kazuma: oh yeah, isn't that the place where we met Wiz?

Luna: well, someone had apparently erected a massive barrier as a prank or something.

Y/n: why do I get a feeling that this somehow correlates to us?-

Luna: so the spirits had nowhere to go, so they settled in that vacant mansion instead.

Kazuma and Y/n took a look at Aqua who seemed to have had a guilty looking face as she realized something. Kazuma looked back at Luna.

Kazuma: excuse us for a moment.

He tells Luna before the three of them went to a secluded corner to discuss something.

Kazuma: you know whats going on, don't you? Spill it.

Aqua: p-perhaps I do...

Y/n: what did you do?

He asks.

Aqua: y-y-you see... remember how Kazuma and I undertook exorcising the graveyard in Wiz's stead before?

Y/n and Kazuma: uh huh.

Aqua: but constantly going all the way to the grave yard was such a huge pain.

Y/n and Kazuma: go on.

Aqua: so I figured, if I took away their graveyard, the spirit's home, they would eventually just disperse and leave. So... I... did.

Y/n: ... there it is. There's the problem.

Kazuma: talk about stirring up trouble and then taking credit.

Y/n: I mean, we could just be pricks and take the money and just, not mention it to anyone.

Kazuma: really dude?

Y/n: okay, I'm not saying we should do it, I was just saying that it's an option.

Kazuma sighs as he puts a hand on Aqua's shoulder.

Kazuma: we are not taking the reward.

Aqua: I understand...

She says in a guilty tone of voice. After that, they had told Luna that they would not be accepting the Reward due to... "reasons" and was now making their way to the mansion. While walking through town, a guy in a yellow suit and tie had came into view as he passed by them, more specifically, by Y/n. time slows down a bit as both of them felt something from each other. Y/n felt maliciousness and a dangerous feeling from the man in the suit while the latter had felt a good and powerful feeling from Y/n. time then turns back to normal as the two had now passed eachother, not a word said. Y/n and the man thought nothing about what they felt from eachother... but in the back of their minds, they felt like it wasn't going to be the last they saw of eachother.

Now back at the mansion. Kazuma was now cleaning a gravestone that was set up against a tree while a doll sat right next to it.

Kazuma: I thought for sure it was all Aquas wild delusions.

Y/n: well, I guess it was all true. Though I wouldn't call her an evil spirit, more like a mischievous one.

???: Kazuma-san, I see your cleaning the gravestone.

A new voice appeared as the two boys turned to look at the approaching woman.

Kazuma: ah, Wiz. Hello.

Y/n: so you're Wiz? Kazuma had told me a lot about you. I'm Y/n by the way.

Wiz: well, it's nice to meet you Y/n. isn't it nice that you all were allowed to live here?

Kazuma: its such a life saver that the landlord was such a generous person.

Y/n: yeah, considering that we were the cause of the ghost infestation.

Kazuma: yeah... sorry about causing trouble for you Wiz.

Kazuma Apologized in behalf of everyone, especially Aqua.

Wiz: no, no. I personally think that this was for the best. I'm sure she won't be lonely anymore.

Y/n: give it a few months and I bet she'd be begging us to get out again. Considering that majority of our members are either defective or stupid.

Kazuma: but until then...

Kazuma then turns to the gravestone as he then put his hands together.

Kazuma: I'm begging you, pleas don't cause anymore mischief.

Wiz: well then, I guess I'll be heading back to the shop, come by once in a while okay?

Kazuma: will do.

Y/n: see ya Wiz.

Wiz: also, say hello to the others for me.

She then begins to leave the premises as Kazuma and Y?n were left by their lonesome.

Y/n: well, we definitely came a long way now haven't we?

Kazuma: yup, a long and painful way.

He says with a sigh.

Aqua: Kazuma! Y/n! lunch is ready, so hurry back! If you don't then it'll get cold!

Aqua shouted from the Mansion. Y/n then looks at Kazuma as he also looks at Y/n.

Y/n: well, guess we should go.

Kazuma: yeah, might as well.

Kazuma stood up as he dusted himself off before walking back to the mansion together with Y/n.

Darkness: Aqua, we ran out of fire wood for the fire place.

Aqua: huh, oh. Just toss Kazuma's tracksuit over there onto the fire.

Y/n: not this again. Do they forget that I also exist?

Kazuma: that bitch! AQUA!!! STOOPP!!!

???: Darling, I'm home!

A woman spoke as she entered her house. She wasn't met with a response so she thought that her husband was asleep so she just decided to leave it be. She walked into the living room only to see a man who wasn't her husband, sitting at their chair, sipping some tea.

???: what the!? who the hell are you! Why are you in my house!

The man puts his tea down as he then stood up to face the woman.

???: sorry, I entered your house without your permission, but I was really dying to see you again.

He says to her.

???: what the hell are you talking about? I have a Husband!

She yells at him.

???: yes, I am aware that you are engaged with a man. So I took the liberty and... took him out of the picture.

He says in a very dark tone.

???: what are you?-

She was about to ask but then stopped as her eyes went wide as the man pulled out a wedding ring that her husband always wears. The woman was speechless as she tried to back away in fear only to realized that she had just backed up into a wall. Suddenly, an arm slammed itself right next to her head on the wall as the man stared right into her fearful eyes.

???: p-p-p-please! I-I'll do anything!

She pleaded.

???: anything? Well.... I want you to be mine

He says as he then covers the woman's mouth to keep her from shouting. She flailed around as she tried to free herself from his grasp but failed. The man raised his other hand that held a coin and proceeded to shove the coin into the woman's mouth before backing away. The woman coughed as she had accidentally swallowed the coin. She looked up to the man to see him combing his purple hair back with his hand while holding his other hand up, seemingly looking like he was holding some kind of detonator. He then slowly mutters.

???: [Killer Queen]... has already touched that coin.

Then all that was heard was an explosion before a deadly silence came after.
