Wedding Talk

Her eyes widened as she looked up at him. She took a step back as his presence invaded her space. "A-Already?" she asked nervously.

"Don't you think it's time?" Caleb asked with a smile. He loved watching her getting flustered. There was something about seeing that innocent blush on her cheeks and her beautiful blue eyes burn with the intensity of her emotions. "Our wedding will be in less than a month. We need to start planning everything.

Rose gulped as his words rang in her mind. In less than a month, she was going to be married. Not to the man she loved, but to a vampire she didn't even know. The reality of her situation began to sink in and her heart began to race with panic.

Caleb's eyebrows lifted as he noted the spike in her heart rate. "Are you okay?" he asked worriedly as he reached out to lift her face to him. He didn't want to force her to do anything. He knew it would only make her hate him. If she asked him to postpone the wedding, he would comply with her wishes, only to make her happy. But, he would never be the one to suggest such a stupid thing to her.

Rose nodded absentmindedly as she stared at him. This man was going to be her husband. She was going to be tied down to him for the rest of her life. Considering her situation, things could have been a lot worse, she thought to herself. At least Caleb wasn't some old perverted vampire who wanted to simply devour her.

Little did she know, Caleb was old, perverted, and wanted to devour her, but he would not expose himself to her now. It wasn't the time. He would wait patiently until their wedding night to devour every inch of her body until he was satisfied, or until she passed out. But considering her small body, he figured she would probably pass out exhausted in his bed. He looked down at her body, wondering how much stamina she actually had. Even though her body was small compared to him, she was perfectly shaped. Her curves and her mounds were perfect in every way. He gulped as he felt heat rising.

Rose's cheeks burned with shame as she noted the way Caleb was staring at her, as if he was mentally taking her clothes off. "What are you doing?!" she asked as she backed away from him, making his hand fall from her face. She was shocked and quickly wrapped her arms around her chest as his eyes were lingering there.

Caleb blinked and looked up at her, noting the way she was standing. He cursed inwardly, realizing he had been caught checking her out. "Uh… sorry… I got distracted thinking about something. It's not what you think Rose." His cheeks turned red as his heart pounded in his chest. Dammit! He had to be careful to control his emotions in front of her.

Rose frowned as she looked up at him, noting the way his cheeks turned red. She was amazed at the adorable way he looked right now, like a child being caught for misbehaving, looking awkward and embarrassed. She completely forgot about what he had just done. She pressed her lips tightly together to try and hold back her chuckle as she watched his cheeks turn redder.

Caleb cleared his throat, ignoring the look of amusement on her face. He was the fucking vampire king for god's sake! How could he be so stupid in front of the woman he liked? He sighed miserably. "As I was saying, the wedding is in less than a month. We need to start preparations. I understand if you don't want to be a part of the preparations since this place is new to you, but, I will give you the choice."

She felt a huge weight lifted off her shoulders with his words. "Really?" she asked incredulous. "I don't have to help with anything?" She had considered asking him to do everything but she felt bad. Wasn't the wife supposed to be the one planning everything? On the other hand, she didn't want this wedding to happen, so her heart was not in it. It would be very hard, both physically and emotionally to plan a wedding she didn't want.

Caleb smiled and shook his head. "No. I will take care of everything. The only thing you need to worry about is getting your wedding dress. I've made an appointment for you for tomorrow morning. I figured you might like some company so I invited your friend Jocelyn."

Rose's eyes widened and her lips turned into a happy smile. "Really?" she asked. Her heart swelled with happiness at the thought of seeing her best friend again. When they parted ways, she wasn't sure when she would be seeing her again, but now that she heard Caleb's words, her heart began to flutter.

Caleb smiled down at her. He loved seeing that bright smile; it was like a breath of fresh air. "Yes, you will be picking her up tomorrow morning."

"Thank you," she said as she looked up at him.

"Don't thank me yet," he said as he looked down at her guiltily. "You're also going to take Katherine. I need to make sure you'll be safe everywhere you go."

The mention of Katherine's name suddenly made her frown and her mood dampened. Dammit! She sighed. Well it was better to compromise. After all, he was right. If people were trying to kill her, it was better to take someone with her who could protect her. "Alright. Thank you for worrying about me."

Caleb reached out and wrapped his hand around her head, lifting it up to look into her eyes. "You're all I care about now Rose. Don't forget that."

She gulped and nodded as she saw the intensity in his gaze. She stepped away from him, pulling her face out of his reach and moved towards the desk. "I have a question for you."

Caleb frowned as he followed behind her. "Yes?" He stopped in front of her and placed his hands in his pockets lazily as he waited for her to talk.

Rose looked at him and sighed. "Do you really want this wedding? Don't you have someone you already love?" she asked as she recalled their conversation earlier.

His eyes narrowed as he watched her silently.

Rose felt the atmosphere around them change and she swallowed nervously. It's not that she was trying to get out of the wedding. She was just curious why Caleb had actually agreed to marry her. She was just a simple human. He was the king of all vampires! He could have anyone he wanted, the most gorgeous woman in the world! So why her?

He leaned against the desk and looked at her as he considered her words. "Yes, to both questions."

She frowned. "Then why are you doing this? Why are you marrying me when you have someone else you love?" she asked incredulous.

"Rose…" He sighed as he looked at her features. "I'm marrying the woman I love."

Her cheeks turned red as she watched the sincerity in his eyes. He was telling the truth. But why? How? They didn't even know each other! Was this some king of love at first sight thing? "Caleb how can you love someone you don't even know? It's impossible."

He smiled. "I know everything about you Rose. I know exactly the kind of person you are."

She bit her bottom lip as she looked up at him. "How do you know about me? Have you been stalking me?"

He chuckled at her words. Of course, he wasn't going to admit he had been stalking her for the past few years. He wasn't stupid. "Rose, it only takes a few special moments to know a person. The rest we can discover as time passes."

She frowned. "So you're saying you love me because you know what kind of person I am?" She waited for his answer, but it never came. She sighed frustrated. "Alright, so what kind of person am I?"

He stood up and wrapped his arms around her waist to pull her against his chest. "You're kind to everyone, you're humble, gentle, loyal. You love with all your heart and give everything to the person you love, holding nothing back. That's why I love you."

Her breath caught as she felt his hot breath against her lips. She swallowed hard and tried to avoid looking up at him. The images of the last time she had been in the study with him suddenly flashed through her mind and she felt her body temperature rise, her cheeks burning hot. She had never been held like this by anyone other than Jack. It was embarrassing to be in another man's arms. "Please…" she said as she tried to pull away.

"Please what?" He said with a grin as he watched the way she began to get flustered.

"Let me go," she said as she looked up at him.

"No," he said and tightened his arms around her.

"I'm not your wife yet. You can't touch me."

He chuckled. "I'm not doing anything to you. And besides you're going to be my wife so whatever happens between us really won't matter right? After all, you'll be mine sooner or later. I'll take full responsibility," he said with a mischievous grin.

Her eyes widened as his words registered in her mind. Was he talking about…? "C-Caleb, let me go!" she cried out as she tried pushing him again.

Caleb released her with a chuckle. "Relax I'm not going to do anything to you until you're my wife."

That's not comforting at all, she thought with a frown.

"Any more questions?" he asked with a smile.

She quickly shook her head. "Nope nothing at all." Even though it was a lie and she had hundreds of questions, she didn't want to stay here with him any longer. For some reason, every time they were alone in here, she ended up in his arms. Maybe next time she would suggest having a conversation in the garden with lots of people around. "Good night," she said as she quickly hurried out the door.

"The car will be ready for you at 8," Caleb said as he watched her run away from him.

"Okay," she said and quickly walked out of the study to hide in her room.
