The Great Elders Decision

Elders Of Numir P.O.V.

We left Z and General Adkins to their own devices, the two clearly had their own ways of solving our Solarious problem. Both of them feel their plan is better than the other, but they also fail to see all the flaws each contains.

However, out of the both of them, one has more odds of being effective and like it or not that was Z's. She was right when she said that would be our surprise advantage against Solarious, he already saw we had troops with their own individual abilities and yet, they still stood no chance against him. Time certainly was not on our side to properly train them and to get them to a point where they had mastered said abilities.

Above all that was truly the only end point that had gained the slight approval over the other. Was time. Time stands still for no one, it flows and shifts and creates its own rules. It yields no man, reptilian or any life for that fact. Time is its own master. However, if used wisely can also be very beneficial.

"We are all in agreement then? Z, will have the opportunity to lead us into victory." Arian asked the others.

" Or to our demise." Added Sozu.

" We are in agreement brother, may fate be on our side, and finally bring an end to an era of pain and chaos." Ocenia concluded.

Z P.O.V.

A small knock on our bedroom door draws me from the peaceful rest I had found next to Emily. I slowly slid myself from underneath her head and arm, not wanting to wake her just yet. She could use a few more minutes before reality came to take over her thoughts.

I cracked the door just a bit peeking from behind it. General Adkins stood there and nodded his head to me.

" Are they back with a decision?" I whispered to him.

" Yes, I will wait outside your door for you and we can walk together as two united leaders, if that will be ok with you?" He said gently.

"Of course, I will be right back." I closed the door and made my way back to Emily.

Placing my hand on her shoulder I shook her awake while whispering her name. It took a few nudges to get her to open her eyes. She looked confused for a moment before becoming aware of her surroundings again.

" Z what time is it? Did we oversleep, oh man I knew I shouldn't have."  Emily ranted and groaned.

Trying to hop quickly out of bed I put my hands up and watched as she rushed back and forth trying to find socks and her boots.

"Emily," I said.

She kept on her pace, murmuring a few slurs that came to the forefront of her mind. I watched her for a few more minutes, waiting to see how long her panic mode would last.

" Emily, stop for one moment would you!" I raise my voice. Instantlybshw freezes and looks at me, one boot in hand the other already on her foot.

" Now, I was going to tell you number one no we didn't oversleep, and number two, I was trying to inform you that I was going to head to the Elders with General Adkins, for the Elders decision."  I hated raising my voice but it was the only thing that got her to settle.

" Oh," she replied, finishing the dauntful task of putting her last boot on.

" I'll head over to Nicole and see what help she needs at the infirmary, I'll see you there." She replies by giving me a brief kiss before heading out the door.

I followed suit, after her, as she disappeared down the corridor on the left, I walked with Adkins back to the chambers. Hopefully the decision weighed in my favor, however if it didn't I would honor that and offer support wherever we are needed. Afterall the end goal was to defeat Solarious.

There wasn't much conversation between the two of us. We kept an even side by side pace, all the while a silence remained keeping us an arms length apart at best. I believe we both hoped that we would get our wish. Lost in our own train of thoughts of the next moves to be made once the decision was made. And how we would carry out our future strategies.

Occupied minds make for a quiet bit of company. The mind roams and twists and turns in many ways and directions. Between the what ifs and the will be or could be. A realm of lost thought is sometimes dangerous if one person isn't too careful. That makes for an even scarier reason to not be lost for too long.

Before I knew it we had arrived at the door of the Elders, with one final good luck glance between us we walked in and bowed our heads before them.

" General Adkins and Z, we have made a decision, and both of you shall know it was not an easy task nor was it taken lightly." Arain said as his voice echoed in the room.

" After many different scenarios and debates, the elders of Numir, for the sake of our people and the rest of the galaxy, have opted to go with the plan from Z." Sozu continued.

My eyes widened in disbelief. I had truly thought that they would have sided with their own General.

" Thank you Elders," I responded humbly.

"Don't thank us yet Z, we would like for you to begin immediately, and be ready for a trail run within the week." Gia, stated sternly.

"General Adkins, you will begin to organize the evacuation of all citizens and refugees, once you have completed this task, you will be there to aid Z and her team," Oceania added.

We both nodded to one another in agreement and dismissed ourselves from their chambers. As the doors closed behind us, we walked hurriedly to our destinations. Keeping to our word that no matter the decision, we would be there for one another. Clearly, he didn't like the decision and I would have felt the same way in his shoes, but I am thankful more so that he is doing his duty despite the outcome.

I find Nicole and Emily finishing up changing bandages on some of the Caspian refugees. I take a seat waiting for them, watching as they work as a team in complete harmony. Taking care not to hurt each patient during the redress. It is quite admirable how well they work together, turning from complete strangers to dear friends in a matter of months.

My mind wanders off, back to the first time I laid my eyes on her. A scared weak human who shook just at the sight of me to a now courageous and confident woman. She has grown so much and I hope she is able to see what strength she has, just as I do.

"Hey, Z how did it go?" Emily asks shaking me from my thoughts.

" It went very well, the elders have agreed to move forward with my plan. I need you and Nicole to meet me in the lab when you are done here, we have much to do." I reply and Emily nods

I take my leave and make my way to begin the necessary preparations for the special serum that will end Solarious, and bring justice to all the innocents he has killed throughout the years.
