"When Cinco sent me to find Mrs. Runnunger to make lunch, I couldn't find her in her cottage so I went looking for her, honestly worried for her. Ya know, got to be careful with La Rosa Negra scum attacking women in alleys," he said, taking a breath to continue. "Anyway, can't find her nowhere, but then I get this feeling that maybe I should recheck the stables, so I go back to the stable. Imagine my surprise to find her there, trying to saddle a horse. I wanted to offer to help her, thinking maybe she was tired of sticking around and was making to take off, but when I got close, something told me to look in her bag." He pulled a sheet of paper from his shirt pocket and handed it to Ty. "I found this," he said, clearly believing that whatever was on the paper would exonerate him.
"No, that's not mine. I don't know where that came from!" Mrs. Runnunger shrieked, her eyes wild, her usually neat coif a tousled, loose mess around her head.
