She found him a few feet behind her; he was doubled over, his arms curled around himself, and his usually bronze skin grayed. Mari gasped at the deep lines of agony marring his face.
"Perez," she called and made to rise to go to him, but Ty's groan beside her tore her intentions in two. She wanted to stay with Ty, to make sure he was okay, but Perez...she'd never seen him so...weak and human before. She bit her lip, the decision weighing on her-stay with Ty or go to Perez, help him if she could.
Her decision was made for her when Perez screamed, the sound ripped from him. She shot to him and caught him as he collapsed.
"Oh my God, Perez, what happened?"
He blinked up at her, his ashen face a stark and ghoulish contrast to his ink black eyes.
