I washed my hands and helped Timmy and the girls cook dinner when Jada came in.
"Hey, can I help, too?" Jada asked, clearly enjoying watching Timmy and his flour escapade, too.
"You want to peel potatoes?" Lisa asked, handing her a knife.
"Not really," Jada joked as she washed her hands, and then took the knife. "I'd much rather be playing in flour!" she said to Timmy as she picked up the potatoes.
"No, sissy's helping," Timmy said, seriously involved in his work.
Jada laughed and set the potatoes and knife on the table and retrieved a pan of water. Then, she sat down and began the arduous task of peeling potatoes for an army. We spent the next hour having fun together, just us girls and Timmy, chatting and fixing dinner. Who would have thought that cooking a meal could be so much fun? We needed the release, and this was proof that a person could have fun doing anything, even in a war.
"Well, well, well," Aiden said at the door. "It looks like you guys are having fun."
