He nodded and pulled out of the parking lot as Trevor and Brandon cocked their weapons in the backseat. Aiden followed us. "No one makes a move without my say," Derek said.

"And who the hell do you think you are?" Trevor said, half-cocked.

"The guy trying to keep you alive," Derek answered, turning down a side street as Aiden drove straight ahead to the center of the military base. The guys in the other two jeeps drove straight ahead to the other side of the base, ready.

We drove slowly, barely breathing, waiting for the signal.

"Ready?" Trevor asked Jada, and she rolled her eyes. "I'll man the Gatling Gun," he said to Derek.

"Sounds good," Derek replied, driving slowly down the street, waiting for the signal.
