Chapter 90: Second Thoughts

Standing by the window of his chambers, Hisoka watched Adelaide and Talas as they walked through the grounds. It had been easy to imagine killing the child when he was just an imaginary person that he had yet to meet. But now, seeing the future Reigning Prince his mind was less resolute.

It wasn't that he didn't plan to follow through with his plan. He had every intention of killing Talas. It was just harder to do than he'd expected it to be. Adelaide and the young boy were close and that complicated matters. Hisoka couldn't separate the two in his mind.

Adelaide complicated everything. She always had. It wasn't that he cared about her. He refused to accept that was even a possibility.

He wasn't sure why she had any influence upon him at all. She should be irrelevant. She was just the key to getting into the castle and now inside, her purpose had been served.
