Chapter 441: There's No Shame in Admitting You're in Pain

Looking around me, I see that we're still in the car. It's dark. The only light coming from a street light overhead.

I don't know where we are. We're not at home, that's for sure.

Noticing my confusion, Walker smiles softly.

"I thought I'd drive around a bit seeing how you were asleep."

I don't say anything. That's Walker for you. He's always doing sweet little things for me.

"I only stopped because you seemed to be having a nightmare."

"I..." I don't know how to tell him what just happened.

"It's okay," he tells me gently. "It's all over."

He doesn't have to ask what the dream was about. He can tell without asking. And for that I'm grateful. I don't think I could bear to relive that pain even for a second.

Turning the engine back on, Walker pulls out of his parking spot and takes my hand in his. He lifts it to his mouth, kissing it softly.

"I'm sorry. Your dreams are the one place I can't protect you."

Sighing, I try my best to ignore the tension in my muscles.
