Away from everyone

Our footsteps rang the dark hallways of the palace. The eerie incandescent glow of the moonlight streaming from the arched windows provided visibility to our paths.

The lively voices and the ongoing music coming from the ballroom had long been muffled out by the distance. I let the silver-haired boy grab me by the hand earlier and lead me away, unaware where he was taking me.

After a whole five minutes, my curiosity had gotten the best of me.

"Where are we going?" I asked in a hushed tone, my eyes scanning the surroundings.

They were unfamiliar. I have never been to this part of the palace before. And it felt as if we were sneaking off to somewhere.

Or perhaps that was exactly what we were doing.

Sein looked over his shoulder to meet my eyes. He stopped on his tracks, still not letting go of my hand as he placed another one on top of mine.

"I'm going to show you something. Will you trust me?"
