No regrets

I awoke to muffled thuds on the ground, my body slightly bouncing up and down. I was lying on something very soft and warm.

I was looking directly at the sky, dawn cracking on the horizon. Sunlight slowly seeping into the darkness, banishing the night away.

Blurred figures passed over my line of sight. I squinted, trying to get a better look at what they were. They're too big to be birds.

These figures wore robes. Black colored and embroidered with gold. The Dryads were flying above me. Only then did I realize that my gaze was following them. I was in motion, riding something.

No, not something. Shire. His velvety fur brushing against my skin. As if he knew I recognized him, Shire howled. I swept the coat around his neck, smiling to myself and realizing that I'd missed him.
