The Applicant is above the Average

Hans was still in Jessica's office when the head of HR arrived with his report on the selection of a new secretary.

Within a week more than a hundred files were submitted. Neither Hans nor Jessica was surprised by the results. They only needed one person, so no matter how many, they could easily get rid of a large group of unqualified people.

"We've finished reviewing them on paper. There are about 60 people who will take the written test the day after tomorrow." The HR chief gave his report.

Jessica herself has requested that this selection process be carried out quickly. In less than two weeks they had to find a new secretary who was reliable enough to replace Hans.

The HR chief is still not finished with his report, "there were several registrars that surprised us and I need your confirmation to take another action."

The HR head placed four documents on Jessica's desk. Unlike regular cover letters, they are wrapped in a quality leather folder that would make one think it was a contract worth billions of dollars.

They are above average application files.

"I don't think they're ordinary people and shouldn't be doing this." The HR chief said his opinion. "Should we accept their proposal or… ignore it?"

Jessica reached out her hand to open the files, she only read a little and immediately threw the first opened file into the trash.

That reaction took Hans and the HR chief by surprise.

The second file also had the same fate, it didn't take even a minute to consider it.

On glancing at the third file the woman's smile angled up and she shook her head. The third file had survived, Jessica put it back on her desk.

Could this third be good enough and proper that he kept it?

Jessica continued reading the fourth file and tragically she immediately threw the file into the trash at the third second.

"Send me a notification that they don't pass administrative selection, they're too much. I'm looking for an assistant, not a new director."

The HR chief immediately understood. He had finished with his report but remained standing there as if waiting for something. "What about the application file?" the HR chief pointed to the file that was still on the table.

"He can't get away either," Jessica weighed the file with her hand. "I'll keep it on this one. Thanks for your hard work." Jessica smiled meaningfully and put the file in her desk drawer.

The head of HR excused himself from the room. Leaving Hans curious about the owner of the files, especially the one with the navy blue leatherback Jessica kept in her desk drawer.

Today Jessica has lunch outside with one of her colleagues. An attractive young executive, even this man is younger than Jessica. This young man ran a technology company that was currently working on software for the company to use.

Hans unexpectedly makes up an excuse not to go to Jessica's lunch with his colleagues. Things that Hans usually never missed or missed, except for the last lunch with Tony.

Hans reasons that he should check the packages sent from the Thai auction. He said the package arrived. It's about the necklace that Mr. William won last Saturday.

Jessica felt bad when she remembered the necklace. She should have made the bid and won the necklace for herself. Jessica tried to cheer herself up, enjoying lunch with the handsome young man.

It was indeed a good opportunity for that young man because such opportunities were quite rare. Another magical thing that the young man even managed to exchange cell phone numbers with Jessica.

Meanwhile, Hans didn't return to his house or go anywhere. After confirming Jessica went out with her colleagues for lunch. When Hans returns to Jessica's room, the man carefully turns off the CCTV in the room.

Hans almost died also curiously, he quickly grabbed the files that were in the trash. Those are the application files that Jessica threw away earlier.

Hans read them all, not quite surprised that he knew the people. Hans remembered every face. They had at least the rank of executives at the moment, it would be crazy to give up their jobs for assistant jobs.

Hans placed the three files on the table as his eyes glanced curiously at the desk drawer.

The drawer was locked. Hans looked for a spare drawer key but he couldn't find it along with a pile of other spare keys. Did Jessica bring the spare too? Thought Hans, how antipathic that woman is.

The thought made Hans even more excited to be able to open the drawer.

Hans's efforts were still fruitless when the door opened and Jessica stepped inside. The woman came home early and found Hans coming out from under her desk.

"What are you doing here?" Jessica crossed her arms impatiently waiting for an answer from Hans.
