The present from Hans

If it wasn't longing, then what kind of heavy feeling would have arisen in Jessica's heart. Don't people say that longing is heavy?

"You must feel homesick."

"I can't possibly miss him."

"Who is he, do you miss Hans?"

"I told you I couldn't possibly miss him."

"What I mean is that you must feel homesick for me. Are you starting to feel homesick now when Hans isn't there?"

Jessica found she was on the wrong track, her conversation rambling on thinking of Hans.

"Did Hans finally make you completely melt, or was it because of his resignation plan? I know you must be used to working with him. You need to take some time to reflect on yourself, are you able to give Hans a chance or let him go because he might be gone forever." In a sense not literally.

Jessica listened to the advice of the woman at the end of her phone. This was not the purpose of their conversation that afternoon. But the woman on the other end of the phone must have understood Jessica's condition.

"Are you still listening to me?"

"Yes, I'm here."

"Okay, don't think about it now. You still have to work, okay. So what do you want? You won't call me if you don't need anything."

"Do I always call you when I need something?"

"Yes, mostly. What can I do for you?"

"I have a job for you, I'll make sure the pay is appropriate or you can put the number you want. So I hope you can come home soon."

"Don't talk about payment just yet. It so happened that I was planning to go home. I already bought a ticket, so you can pick me up Monday afternoon."

"Good then, since you've agreed I'll email the proposal. I'll see you Monday in the afternoon."

The woman on the other end of Jessica's phone gave her brief advice before hanging up.

That afternoon, Jessica sat down at her clean table. He had finished her work early. The working hour was over, Jessica was still sitting in her big chair while Jonathan peeked through the door.

"You don't intend to go home? Are you waiting for something?"

Jessica glanced at her cellphone on the table. "Did Hans call you again this afternoon?"

"Are you waiting for a call from Hans?"

"No, let's go home now." Jessica doesn't want to admit it, she was waiting for the call Hans promised her this afternoon. Waiting like a stupid girl wasn't Jessica's style.

"I thought you intended to be overtime or stuck with something." The voice appeared behind Jessica when Jonathan was about to open the car door for her.

Jessica turned around and found Thomas there. "Oh, sorry I forgot we have an appointment today."

Thomas's bright gaze dimmed with Jessica's words. Is that easy for women to forget their promise? "No, no problem, we still have plenty of time."

Thomas invited Jessica to switch to his car. The woman walked towards Thomas without glancing at Jonathan again.

Ding!

In the middle of the road, a message came to the cellphone in Jessica's hand. The woman glanced at the incoming message, it was from Hans.

'Go home and take a rest. Don't try to go out with Thomas. '

How terrible! How could Hans know there was Thomas there? The parking lot was reserved for the board of directors and currently, only three of them were there.

Jessica immediately glanced suspiciously at Jonathan.

Tring!

One more message! The ring is different because the message entered Jonathan's cellphone. Was it from Hans too, Jessica's gaze wandered.

"Sir, I'm sorry it seems Miss J can't go with you." Jonathan stepped forward and pulled Jessica into his arms. "We need to attend an important meeting tonight."

"What meeting?" Jessica glared at Jonathan. She doesn't like things that are sudden or unplanned.

"We need to meet with clients from Country F, Jonathan picked up his cell phone, indicating that the message he had just received was from their client.

"Oh really?"

"They weren't planning to come, but it just so happened that their plane was transiting through B City. So they invited you to dinner. They might want to discuss extending our project contract."

Jessica tries to remember their clients from Country F and the possibility that it will happen. The taste is still odd, especially after Hans's warning.

Thomas gave Jessica an understanding look, "don't miss this wonderful opportunity. We can still go out tomorrow afternoon if you want."

Jessica was grateful that Thomas was so understanding. Jessica had nodded in agreement to divert their plans, but Jonathan immediately interrupted.

"Uhm, about tomorrow, can you call me first?" Jonathan gave his business card and acted as if he was the current power holder. "We can't guarantee, but I'll see if you have the chance to have another meet up "

Without waiting for Thomas's response, he pulled Jessica into his car and sped out of the parking lot.

Jessica was so shocked by Jonathan's actions that she didn't even react in time. "What did you do?" Even Hans wouldn't be that daring to drag Jessica away from Thomas.

"I'm just doing my job," Jonathan answered Jessica as he was. He didn't want to explain.

Jessica was ready to curse Jonathan when her cell phone ring with one more message.

'Obedient girl, I'll give you a reward for rejecting Thomas.'

"Tch! Are you working with Hans to prevent me from going out with Thomas?"

"Just think anything you want."

Jessica picked up the phone, immediately called Hans. "Where is my present? Are you coming home early?"

Hans smiled on the phone without anyone knowing. The woman's reaction tickled him. "No. I couldn't come back earlier. Wanda gave me a lot of tasks."

"Is that how much, don't want to be deceived by her. You are still my secretary, you are mine, if she troubles you there, tell me immediately."

Hans was speechless for Jessica's word. You are mine. Did that woman just say that Hans is hers? Hans might pounce on Jessica right away if only the woman were in front of him, unfortunately, she was tens of kilometers away from him. Hans hopes he can come back soon.

"Jonathan will take you to the present."

"Take me to a present?"

"Yes, I make sure you will like it. You will be grateful that I prevented you from going out with Thomas today and thank you that you couldn't have him the day you wanted to."

What kind of gift did Hans mean. "Either way, if the prize you mean disappoints then I'll fry Jonathan alive."

Jonathan stole a glance at Jessica. Hans who arranged all the sudden agenda then why should he fry it.

Jessica hung up the phone and stuck to Jonathan, "Since when have you worked so well with Hans. Who's your real boss?"

"You're the boss."

"So where are we going, what is my present?"

"You'll know when we arrive."

"Then drive faster," Jessica became a little impatient. She is so excited about the gift Hans promised that she forgets about her anger at Jonathan.
