Chapter Two: Panic
( Levi's POV)
It took me about twenty minutes to round up all of our friends and have them meet me at our house. I paced back and forth in our simple living room, fear washing over me as my mind began thinking the worse. Hange and Mikasa kept an eye on me as Armin read over the letter a few times. "Do you have any idea where Kenny could have taken her?" Armin asked as I shook my head.
"I have Jon and Historia checking out the church to see if they can find her, but it's not like Kenny to want to complete a job instantly. He likes to toy with his prey.." I explained, my stomach churning with a mix of anger, regret and fear. Sasha walked over to me and put her hand on my shoulder.
"Don't worry Commander, Emi is not just some defenseless girl. She's strong." Sasha stated. I knew Emi was strong, but I wasn't confident that he would spare her life.
"Sasha's right, we can't count Emi out just yet. She's one of us after all." Hange added as I sighed deeply. "Hange, you said that something happened between Emi and Levi and that is why she left in the first place right? So, Levi what happened?" Mikasa asked as I bit my lower lip and looked down at one of the only pictures that Emi and I have together. Her smile made my heart skip a beat. After reluctantly explaining to them what had happened between Emi and I Hange sighed deeply.
"You're such an ass Levi." She stated as Mikasa nodded in agreement. "I know... I regret everything. I know Emi won't be able to fight to her full potential because of the baby. She wouldn't risk the life of the baby like that." I explained as Eren nodded. "I wonder.." Armin muttered as he pulled out a large gold and red book from his bag as he skimmed through the pages. I raised my eyebrows as I watched what he was doing.
"What is it Armin?" Eren asked as Armin held up a finger in response. Hange walked over to Armin and looked over his shoulder. Her eyes widened as she looked at him. "Are you thinking what I'm thinking Armin?" Hange asked as Armin nodded. "There's no promises, and I know it's crazy but I may just work." Armin muttered as Hange smirked.
"Levi, how long has it been since Kami and Emi were separated?" She asked as I walked over to the calendar that we had on the wall and counted the days. "I'd say about three months give or take. Why?" I questioned them. Out of everyone in our squad, Armin and Hange were our two brightest minds. "That should work..." Hange mumbled as Armin nodded. "But where would we get her blood from?" Armin asked as Hange smirked and adjusted her glasses. "I may still have some in my office from when I ran some tests on Kami.. I'd have to go look." Hange explained as I looked at them both.
"Will you two please fill us in on what you have planned?" I asked, hoping that they had an answer to my prayers. "Well, It's a shot in the dark but we may have a way to either get in contact with Kami, or release her. There's a spell in this book that involves the blood of the person your trying to get in contact with. We have to draw the magic circle onto the spirit tree with Emi and Kami's blood. It may not work but, it's worth a shot." Armin explained as my eyes widened. If anyone may know where Emi is, it had to be Kami. I mean the woman is a goddess. I looked at Armin and Hange as I nodded.
"Lets try it, go get the blood from your office. Mikasa and I will head to the Spirit Tree and see if we can find any other clues. Meet us there once you have the blood. Eren, go with Hange and Armin." I instructed as everyone nodded in agreement and went their separate ways.
Mikasa and I loaded up our horses and headed out for the Spirit Tree. I glanced over at Mikasa, who was focused on the mission ahead of us. Technically, Mikasa is my niece but we aren't that close. "Can I ask you something Mikasa?" I questioned as she nodded while we continued to ride. "Sure." She muttered as I sighed. "You're with Eren, right? How do you deal with him being different... a titan I mean. I've been trying to put myself in Emi's shoes but it's difficult for me to do so." I explained. I never knew what was running through Emi's mind, but I always wished I did. Mikasa sighed as she looked over at me.
"You have to be understanding that she is going through something you will never be able to understand. Ask her how she's feeling and what she's thinking, and do your best to be as gentle with her as you can. This is a confusing time for her, I remember when Eren first found out he was a titan. I felt horrible because I didn't know how to help him. But, then I realized that the only thing I could do is support him." She explained as I nodded.
"Thank you, Mikasa...I appreciate the advice." I stated as she slightly smiled. The rest of the ride to the Spirit Tree was dead silent, my mind becoming lost with thoughts of Emi as we approached the tree. "Armin, Hange and Eren should be here soon. Untill then stay on gaurd. We don't know if Kenny has anyone helping him." I explained as Mikasa nodded in agreement. "Yes sir." She stated as she kept her hand on the handel of her sword. I took a deep breath, expecting the worst to happen as I kept my eyes peeled.
"Levi?" A familiar voice called to me. "Hmm?" I looked over at Mikasa who was focused on the forest infront of us. "Mikasa, did you say something?" I questioned her as she quickly shook her head. "No sir, I didn't." I raised my eyebrows and looked around the tree. I didn't see anyone there. Maybe i was hearing things? I exhauled deeply as I leaned against the base of the tree and waited for Armin and the others to arrive. "Is that you, Levi?" The voice asked me as my eyes widened, finally recognizing the voice. "Kami?.."
