Oblivion

6:34 PM February 3 Aoyama Funeral Home

Lilys and chrysanthemums in yellow and white, surrounding a white casket with a portrait of someone dearly to every people attending, can be seen in a place where no one ever wanted to attend to.

All funeral guests are wearing black: men are wearing black suits with white shirts and black ties, and women are wearing either black dresses or black kimonos. In front is a woman and an old man, kneeling in a mat, greeting every guest attending. Sugawara and Daichi went in first and kneeled in front of them.

"Miwa-san, Kazuyo-san, I am sorry for your loss." Daichi said as they bow down in front of them.

"Is it okay to talk later, Daichi?" Miwa asked.

"Yes, It's fine. We will be waiting outside for you." Daichi said as he stood up.

"Thank You."

Both of them walked in front and burned incense to pay their respect for Kageyama. Sugawara glanced back while praying and saw Kageyama's grandfather almost tearing up.

"Remember that face, Sugawara. Remember how his family is mourning and grieving, and use that as your motivation to close this case as soon as possible." Daichi said while looking at Miwa, comforting his grandfather.

"I know..." Sugawara agonized while looking down.

Daichi patted Sugawara's shoulder and said, "Whenever you're in trouble, always depend on me, okay?"

"I always will." His smile was relieved.

Both of them stood up and bowed in front of Miwa and Kazuyo before leaving the hall.

"I'll leave you for a second. I feel like sleeping so I'll get coffee. You want something to drink?" Daichi asked.

"Cappuccino, please." Sugawara said while handing a 10000 yen to Daichi.

"My treat. I'll head out so wait for me in here, okay? Miwa will be out soon so don't you go anywhere wandering, okay?" Daichi pleaded as he grabs both of his shoulders.

"I'm not a kid, Daichi. Please go." Sugawara said, slightly pushing Daichi away.

Daichi just smiled widely but Sugawara can feel that Daichi is the one who's suffering the most right now. He'd lost a comrade that was trusted to him, a friend that he relies onto and almost like his own child that he's been taking care of.

He glanced back at his phone for the twentieth time tonight but he haven't receive any messages from Atsumu. It's been two days after that incident but he haven't heard anything from him. He was scrolling to his phone call history when someone pop out in front of him.

"I'm glad I saw you here." The guy in a black suit said.

"I guess you still have manners of not hitting any girls here in the funeral." Sugawara said, still fidgeting on his phone.

"Do you really think I'm like that?!" The guy leans his face close to Sugawara to gain his attention.

"Stop leaning close to my face, Kuroo!" He hissed.

"What? Did I do something wrong to you? We're not that close so I doubt I did something that might offended you." Kuroo asked while roaming his eyes around the lobby.

Sugawara didn't answer and kept scrolling his messages on his phone.

"Do you perhaps.... suspect me of being the traitor in the agency?" Kuroo blurted out.

"That just makes you more suspicious, Kuroo. I didn't mention anything about the conspiracy in the agency yet you're bringing the topic up." Sugawara said, finally looking at Kuroo.

Kuroo suddenly laughed loudly that made the funeral guests look at him in disbelief. Sugawara hurriedly shut Kuroo by stuffing his handkerchief to his mouth and bowed apologetically to the guests.

"What the fuck, Kuroo?! Atleast have some respect with Kageyama's family in here!" Sugawara said as he points at the hall where Miwa and Kazuyo are.

"I'm... sorry." Kuroo said as he removes the hankie off his mouth. "I don't trust anyone so I'm being careful with people around the agency."

"We've already figured out who the traitor is so we're now investigating who are his accomplice." Sugawara said, moving an inch away from Kuroo when he was about to hand back the hankie to him.

"You already know who?!" Kuroo whispered in a shouting manner.

"Hinata told us before resigning."

"Resign???!! He resigned??!" Kuroo whispered but the volume of his voice is slowly rising.

"The day Kageyama died, he resigned."

"Who is the traitor then?" Kuroo said and grabbed both Sugawara's shoulders.

"What are you doing, Kuroo?" Daichi arrived, holding two cups of cappuccino and black coffee.

"Oh, you came. Sugawara told me that you already knew who the traitor is."

Daichi handed the cappuccino to Sugawara and sat in between them. He took a sip of his coffee before answering.

"It's Kenma."

"Kenma?! You mean Kozume Kenma?! Didn't he died last year because he was caught by Sakusa as a spy and was tortured to death?"

"He faked his death last year. From what I heard, Kenma called out Hinata and told him that Kageyama was inside Sakusa's mansion. He used Kageyama as his bait to capture Hinata so that they will be killed both by Sakusa."

"Did you find any leads of who might be his accomplice?" Kuroo curiously asked.

"Not yet. We'll work on it as soon as possible after Kageyama's wake. Right now, we're waiting for the newbies that will replace Hinata, Kageyama and Suna." Sugawara stood up and threw the cup in a trash bin near them.

"NEWBIES??!!" Daichi and Kuroo shouted.

"Calm the fuck down, you two!!" Sugawara covered Daichi's mouth using his left hand while slapping Kuroo's cheeks using his right hand.

"You won't shout again, okay?!"

Both of them just nodded. When Sugawara thinks that the two have calmed down, he slowly removed his left hand off of Daichi's mouth and glared at Kuroo after.

"Newbies? But didn't we all agree that we won't be recruiting other people that are less experienced for this case?" Kuroo asked.

"We badly need people that will take over the job that was left in order for us to continue without delay." Sugawara glanced where the hall is and saw Miwa coming towards them.

"I'm sorry for the wait." Miwa said as she tamp a pack of cigarettes and opened it.

"Miwa-san.... smoking... is prohibited... in here." Daichi nervously said.

"I don't give a fuck, Daichi." Miwa light up her cigarette and inhale the smoke.

"I'm really disappointed with the both of you."

"I'm sor----"

Sugawara was cut off when Miwa suddenly blew out the smoke on his face.

"Don't apologize or else I'll shave that hair of yours. Tobio have always admired the both of you and I knew that you two are good with your work."

Kageyama Miwa, who never left Tobio's side since the day he was born. Both of their parents are always busy with their work and they don't even care just a little about them. As long as they give their monthly allowance, they thought it would be enough to support their children. Once a year, every Christmas, they visit Miwa and Tobio. But every time they go home, fighting was a norm for the both of them. Tobio would always lock his self inside his room but Miwa would always knock, bringing a piece of cake that they'll share for the holiday. They didn't receive enough love from their parents but warming each other's heart was enough for them.

"He's stupid but I really admire his passion and perseverance when he wants to achieve something. Me and my grandfather were so opposed with the idea of him joining the agency because we know his life would always be in danger." Miwa inhaled a smoke from her cigarette again.

"But that fucking dumbass fell in love with Hinata and he wanted to be hired no matter what the circumstances are. That's why our grandfather doesn't even know if he'll just knock him out of his wild desires or just kick him out of the family." Miwa said, letting out a chuckle.

His grandfather, Kageyama Kazuyo, who raised them, has always been the one checking on them. Miwa and Tobio can't cook a proper meal, that is why Kazuyo always ensures that he visits them in their house everyday, worried they might burn it and fall into ashes. He knows from the start that Tobio wants to be part of the intelligence agency, as he has been inspired by him because he's a retired agent.

"You told me that he was abducted a week before, right? I received a message coming from him before the night he was caught by the clan." Miwa grabbed her phone out of her bag and opened her message history.

She was about to show it in front of the three guys but Daichi hurriedly covered the message on her phone.

"Send me a screenshot, Miwa. It's too dangerous if you show it publicly. You can send it on my email and I'll notify you once I receive it." Daichi said as he hands his business card to Miwa.

"Oh... sure. I guess that's it for us. After I send it to you, please don't ever show your faces to us." Miwa stubbed out her cigarette on her ashtray pocket and smiled at Sugawara.

"You're the only guy I am trusting here."

"Eh? Uhm... I'm honored...?" Sugawara stuttered, not knowing why Miwa said that to him.

"Hinata texted me that he will be here soon but he didn't want to see you guys." Miwa glanced back at her phone and saw a message from Hinata.

"Then I think it's time for us to leave now." Daichi stood up and bowed down to Miwa. She was looking sharply at Kuroo, who was staring at her intently.

The three of them left the funeral homes and stopped by at the parking lot.

"Sugawara, when will the newbies start working with us?"

"Tomorrow. The prime minister knew that there is a conspiracy happening in the agency so he recruited five agents that will replace Kageyama, Hinata and Suna."

"Let's have a meeting tomorrow morning. We'll talk about the newbies and Miwa's message from Kageyama."

Daichi opened his car door preparing to leave but Kuroo butted in.

"So did Kei gave you the profile I handed to him?"

"What profile are you talking about?" Sugawara asked who's about to walk his way on his car.

"I gathered some data from the waitresses in the Oriental Pearl Bar, one of the territories of the Shibayama clan."

Sugawara walked close to Kuroo and asked, "So what's this profile about?"

"I finally found the new head of the Shibayama clan."

8:24 PM February 3 Sakusa Mansion

"He's been ill for two days, what the hell is happening to him?" Atsumu asked, wiping Sakusa's body after taking a bath with lukewarm water.

"How would I know? I'm not a doctor."

Atsumu grabbed a pair of pajamas on the cabinet, not knowing if Sakusa owns them. He placed the clothes beside Sakusa and glanced back to the guy who saved them from the hut they stayed in during the storm.

The guy stood up from the couch and opened the door behind him, saying, "If you want to know how did I find you guys, you better dress him up first. I will wait outside and tell you everything."

"Thank you, Kenma."

Kenma shut the door behind him without responding to Atsumu.

"So now what, young master?"

All were silent, and the only sound audible was the heavy breathing of Sakusa who has been sick for two days. Atsumu held both Sakusa's arms to help him sit up.

"Hey, say something. You haven't said anything after we left that hut."

Sakusa's eyes were closed, so weary and sleepy did he seem.

"Ushijima will be here soon so take a rest, okay?" Atsumu continued dressing him for a few minutes, knowing Sakusa will never say anything to him.

After putting clothes on him, Sakusa went back lying on his bed without glancing back at him. Atsumu just sighed, not knowing why Sakusa is so grumpy and acting childish in front him.

He then grab the basin to change the water and go back to Kenma but Sakusa reached out for his hand, finally looking up at him.

"Don't... leave.... me, please." Sakusa faltered, struggling to control his breathing.

"So now you're talking."

Atsumu placed the basin back to the bedside table and sat on the edge of Sakusa's bed.

"I need to get some cold water so that I can change your washcloth."

"I'm... fine."

"No, you're not." Atsumu placed his palm on his forehead and said, "Your fever hasn't gone down even just a little and your asthma keeps on getting worse. You haven't eaten properly and you don't even want to rest. You keep on saying you need to look at the files that Oiwake gave to you but you can't even move an inch on this bed. You're not even saying anything to me on what you are feeling yet you want me to stay beside you. Then what do you really want me to do?"

"Sleep.. with me." Sakusa whispered, still with his eyes closed.

"W-what t-the h-heck?!" Atsumu stuttered.

Sakusa patted the space beside him, signaling Atsumu to lie beside him.

"O-oh... right... what am I even thinking about..." Atsumu felt his face heating up because of embarrassment.

He lifted up the blanket and lie almost a meter away from him. Sakusa, who's eyes are still closed, felt that Atsumu already lied beside him so he stretched his arm to reach out for him but felt nothing. Upon opening his eyes, he saw that Atsumu was already lying on his bed but was too far away. He then moved his body close to him and squeezed his self next to Atsumu.

"Atsumu, turn... around." Sakusa ordered.

Atsumu flinched as he felt Sakusa's warm hands on his arm. He slowly turned his body and saw Sakusa staring at him.

Atsumu nervously laughed and stuttered, "I r-really... n-need t-to change... t-the water."

Sakusa grabbed Atsumu's left arm, using it as his pillow and gently buried his face on Atsumu's chest.

"Don't... leave until... I fall asleep." Sakusa said as he wrap his right arm around Atsumu's waist and went silent for the next few minutes.

"Calm down. Calm down. Calm the fuck down, heart." Atsumu thought over and over, fearing Sakusa might feel his heart racing. His heart was beating fast and his palms are starting to sweat.

"Should I go now? He's not moving at all. Is he already asleep? Should I stay a little longer? Wait, no. I almost forgot Kenma is waiting for me!"

Atsumu was about to lift Sakusa's head to remove his left arm but Sakusa embraced Atsumu tighter and moved an inch closer to him.

"I'm still... not asleep, Atsumu." Sakusa whispered.

"O-o-oh y-yeah, I k-know." Atsumu stuttered and went back to his position earlier.

Atsumu glanced down at Sakusa and saw him silent and still, his eyes closed in concentration to sleep.

The night was getting chilly but the warmth of Sakusa's body made his senses tingle with both need and happiness. He slowly raised his right hand to reach for Sakusa's hair but pulled away, thinking he might interrupt his sleep. But seeing how silky soft his wavy hair is, it was enough for him to be tempted. He gently brush his fingertips on Sakusa's hair, lightly caressing and fondling it.

"It's really... soft."

He suddenly remembered everything that Sakusa has told him about his circumstances in his family and the problems he's been carrying since he was a kid. This guy next to him, hugging him tightly, not letting him go, has been burdened of continuing this illegal business of his father. Worrying about his mother's life of getting killed by his father if he disobeys him, he does everything he says even if he hates it. He acts arrogant and mighty outside but the truth is, he cares for his mother and friends the most. He knows that if he reports this to Sugawara, he can come up with plan that will save him and his mother.

He doesn't want to think of anything anymore. He let go of all his worries and immersed himself fully in the moment, staring at how soft and innocent Sakusa's sleeping face looks like.

"You... really are amazing, Sakusa."

Sakusa suddenly flinched and looked up at Atsumu as he spoke those words.

"You're not.... spying on me, are you?" Sakusa blurted out.

Atsumu shivered upon hearing Sakusa's words and terror spun through him. His eyes started to shake in fear and his lips were trembling. He doesn't want to lie nor give him wrong motives. He thought over and over of what to say in this situation without hurting him and revealing his real identity.

He genuinely smiled at him and held Sakusa's face with his shaking hand and said,

"I will never do anything that will cause you harm."

Sakusa's arm wrapping around Atsumu's waist tightened as he buries his face back to Atsumu's chest.

"So you-----"

Sakusa was cut off when Kenma entered his room with Ushijima standing beside him.

"Sorry for the interruption but he's been waiting outside for fifteen minutes already." Kenma said, pointing at Ushijima.

Atsumu forcibly pushed Sakusa away from him and hurriedly sat up stiffly on the edge of the bed.

"Don't be embarrassed, Atsumu." Ushijima said as he placed his bag on the couch.

"I didn't do any----"

Ushijima softly chuckled as he sees Sakusa pulling Atsumu's shirt, wanting him to lie back beside him.

"He's always like that when he has fever. Clingy, needy, childish and he's honest at times like this."

Kenma came back holding a dextrose stand while Ushijima was holding two IV fluids, plastic tubing, butterfly needle and tape. He went to the bathroom to wash his hands and put on gloves on both of his hands. He opened the sterile package of the tubing and attached it on the IV fluid bag. He then hanged the IV fluid bag on the dextrose stand and let the fluid run down through the tube to get rid of any air. He closed the clip of the tube after getting rid of the air and went beside Sakusa to tie a tourniquet around his arm. He grabbed an alcohol pad from his bag and cleaned the area where he's about to put a needle on Sakusa. He held the largest vein steady between his index finger and thumb of his one hand hand while holding the needle on his other hand, carefully inserting it into his vein. He removed the tourniquet around his arm and attached the needle on the tube, letting the fluid flow through his body.

"I need to give him IV for nutrients and IV for medication later." Ushijima removed his gloves, putting it in a plastic bag for disposal.

"I will take care of him now. Rest assure he will be back in shape tomorrow so you better rest too, Atsumu."

"I will. Thank you." Atsumu glanced back at Sakusa who is now soundly sleeping. He felt a tug on his shirt pulling him away from that room. It was Kenma with his irritated face on.

"You're wasting my time." Kenma said as he shuts the door behind him.

"Follow me." He walked past Atsumu, guiding him to where the guest room is. He opened the door and waited for Atsumu to go in, glancing sideways assuring no one is following. He locked the door and asked,

"What the hell are you doing, Atsumu? Did you fell in love with him?!"

Atsumu froze, not knowing what to say.

"If Sugawara will know about this then you're fucking out of this case."

"It's n-not w-what you're t-thinking, Kenma..." Atsumu stuttered.

"Forget about it." He sat on the edge of the bed and pointed the couch, signaling Atsumu to sit.

"Oiwake planted an in-body GPS to Sakusa that is why we found you in the middle of the woods two days ago."

"What?!" Atsumu shouted.

"It's not just the CCTVs or the listening devices but he also did that to track his location. He already has it since the day he was placed as the new head of the clan."

"Does he know about this?"

"Apparently, no. There was one incident before he replaced his father that made him get shot by him two times and that was when they put an in-body GPS in him, without him realizing it."

"That's.... cruel."

Kenma narrrowed his eyebrows, analyzing Atsumu's reactions carefully. He's starting to doubt about his real goal for this mission as he's now getting soft and kind to Sakusa. He knows that if he felt kindness and sympathy for Sakusa, he might deviate from the plan he made for Shibayama clan's succession.

"Oh. Since you've been investigating the clan much longer than I am, have you ever saw Sakusa's mother with his father?" Atsumu asked, eager to know about Sakusa's mother.

Kenma frowned and said, "What are you talking about? His mother died after she gave birth to Sakusa."

Atsumu stared down at him with a bewildered expression.

"Wait.. no... he said..." Atsumu faltered, not knowing how to explain what Sakusa said to him back to the hut where they stayed at.

"Didn't Sugawara told you about this? He also knows about it."

"Now... that I... think... about it.... someone also.... told me..."

"Does his mother don't do anything to stop her husband from abusing Sakusa?"

"His mother died after giving birth to Sakusa that's why no one was there for him when he suffers..." (Chapter: Distrust)

"It was... Ushijima! I... I... need to talk to him!"

He dashed out of the room, leaving Kenma behind.

"You're kidding me. You're kidding me. I fucking need answers." Atsumu cursed to his self over and over, forgetting what Ushijima has said to him at the Oriental Pearl Bar in Higashiyama District.

When he arrived in front of Sakusa's room, he breathed deeply, trying to gain his self control. He doesn't want to make a scene inside the mansion that will raise suspicion of him. He grabbed the door knob and was about to twist it but then an old man came into the hallway, with five bodyguards behind him.

"Suzuki Atsumu."

Atsumu froze and his body started shaking so bad, his legs felt weak like a rubber.

"This saved me time to look for you."

Atsumu forced a smile in front of him and bowed down, greeting the older man.

"It's a... pleasure meeting you... again, Oiwake-san."

"I came here to deliver some good news for you."

The older walked towards Atsumu, grabbing both of his shoulders and said,

"Congratulations. You're now part of the clan."

"W-w-what?" His expression was bewildered for only a fraction of a second, and then he forced a happy look on his face.

"Are you sure, Oiwake-san?!" Atsumu shouted in excitement.

"Your first job will be with the Futakuchi dealing so be ready...." Oiwake went close to Atsumu's ear and whispered, "... And good luck on gaining our trust on you."
