August and my uncle sat in the front seats of my uncle's car while I sat in the back fiddling with my new dagger. I know what your thinking, why give an eleven-year-old a knife? Well, since I found out I was a demigod (which was only three hours ago!) I had to defend myself from monsters that could easily kill me.
I sighed and looked out the window, it was getting darker out and colder. The snow had only gotten worse, the roads were icy and I was bored.
"There!" August suddenly blurted out and her uncle hit the break causing her to face-plant into the seat in front of her.
I got out of the car and looked around. They were in the middle of nowhere.
"Thank you, Mr. Glen, you can return to your home now. I'll get Peck to camp." August said.
"Bye uncle, I'll see you soon." I hugged my uncle.
"Stay safe, Peck." My uncle replied.
"Come on Peck, we have to get to camp before dark!" August was already across the road.
I quickly rushed across the road and stood next to August. "So, how far is this Camp Half-Blood?"
"Not too far I hope." August cast a nervous glance into the forest.
***
It was far, in fact, it took them twenty minutes until they heard people singing and laughing. After about another fifteen minutes of walking through the forest, Peck and August stumbled into the camp, exhausted.
"We made it and no monster's killed us." I chuckled.
"Come on, we need to find Chiron. He's either at The Big House or the campfire." August murmured.
"Who's Chiron?"
"He's our games director."
"Won't it be hard to spot him in the crowds of Demigods?"
"Not hard at all." August started to make his way to the campfire and Peck followed closely behind him.
A few older kids noticed them and moved out of the way. A few girls who had so much makeup on that made Peck want to throw up plugged their nose's.
"Peck?" A familiar face lit up in the fire.
I recognized the dirty blond hair, freckled face and soft green eyes. Alex was a demigod, but who was his godly parent?
"Where's Chiron?" August asked.
"He's at the big house, a few kids got hurt climbing the wall, he's caring for them." A girl with long brown hair responded.
"Thanks, come on Peck." August grabbed her hand and pulled her towards what probably was The Big House.
By the time they reached The Big House Peck wanted to drop. August knocked on the door and someone opened it.
"What do you want?" A boy with blond hair snapped.
"I found a new Demigod," August responded.
"I'll inform Chiron." The boy walked away.
Hooves clomped over and I expected to see a satyr, instead, I saw a... centaur!
"You're a centaur?" I gasped.
"Why yes, I am." The centaur stepped outside, he lowered his head so he wouldn't hit it on the top of the door frame.
"So your Chiron?" I asked.
"Yes, and you are?" Chiron looked down at her.
"Peck Glen," I responded. "I uh, guess I'm a demigod according to August."
"Has she been claimed?" Chiron turned to August.
"No." August frowned.
"I see. Peck go join your campmates at the campfire." Chiron looked back at her with his kind blue eyes.
I nodded and walked back to the fire. I looked back and felt pity for August, he must've hoped I would've been claimed soon after I came to camp.
