Lost Child

"Sorry kid, nobody who fits that description has entered this building. I would know since I run this place all day." The middle aged man said behind the counter.

When it became morning me alongside everyone else began searching the town for any information that could help us find Ren. At the moment I was located in a tavern on the east side of town.

I thanked the man for allowing me to question him and walked out of the building. There were more people on the east side of town than any other causing it to be a lot harder to walk around. I groaned at the thought of having to walk through all these people until we learned something about Ren's location.

I walked through the busy streets with my hands tucked away in my pockets. I brought Genki with me in the off chance that I were to be attacked again. As I walked around I saw a child who looked no younger than four crying next to one of the stalls. The person running the stall was next to him trying to cheer him up. I walked over to the kid and crouched down so we'd be eye level.

I turned my head towards the stall runner and gave him a curious look. "What happened to this kid over here? Did he lose his parents or something?" I asked.

The stall runner sighed and nodded his head. I looked back towards the kid and gave him a worried look. I stood back up and faced the man once more.

"Do you have any idea where his parents might be?" I asked.

"Nope. All I know is that this kid right here wandered out of the busy street and ended up here. I wonder how they got separated in the first place." The stall runner said.

I looked back at the street and looked at how fast everyone was moving. Add the fact that they were all so close together and you wouldn't be surprised if someone got pulled away from their group.

I turned back around to face the stall runner and gave him a smile, "leave this kid to me. I'll help him find his parents in no time."

The kid stopped crying and looked up at me. I gave the kid a smile before offering my hand to him. The kid reached out his hand allowing me to shake his.

I picked up the kid and put him on my back so he could see above the crowd. I began walking into the crowd but stopped when I felt a tap on my shoulder. I turned around to see who tapped me and saw the stall runner smiling at me. He was holding onto a small pouch that seemed to be filled to the brim with something. He put it in my bag and gave me a thumbs up.

"That's a bag full of healing herbs. It's on the house so don't worry about paying. I hope you find this kid's parents soon." He said.

"Thanks a lot Mister. I'll make sure to bring this kid safely to his parents as soon as possible." I said, running off into the crowd.
