Aura Awakening

The tavern's quest board was a lot bigger than the one back at home. Most of the requests were just fetch quests but one request in particular caught my eye.

"Slay the Giant King to the North of the town. The reward is… five hundred thousand velp?!" I yelled.

Everyone looked over my shoulder so they could see the paper as well. As much as I wanted to do that quest I doubt we could beat the king. We just barely survived an encounter with a normal giant so there was no way we were gonna beat the king.

"That seems pretty easy." Ichiro said with a straight face.

Alice, Akio, and I all looked at him as if he just said the dumbest thing ever. Which in my eyes, he just did.

Ichiro gave us a strange look, "what's the matter? It's easy to kill giants as long as you use your aura. Wait, you guys can use your aura, right?"

I knew that Alice could sense anyone's aura but that was it. I on the other hand, could only see it if their malice was powerful. I didn't know about Akio though, if I had to take a guess I'd say he was like Alice and I.

"Alice, I thought I told you to train your aura so you can use it in battle." Ichiro said with a somewhat annoyed look on his face.

Alice pouted and turned her head away from Ichiro. I turned to face Akio to see if he knew what was going on but he shook his head.

"It's obvious Alice won't listen to me so I'll just unlock John's aura potential." Ichiro said, cracking his knuckles.

He began walking up to me slowly. His entire presence was menacing to say the least. He turned one of his open hands into a fist. I wanted to move but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

Ichiro threw out a punch that was going to hit me directly in the face. Before his fist could even make contact it came to a complete stop. He had a large grin on his face as he flicked me on the forehead.
