Chapter Twenty

'You're not shallow!' The angel perched on her right shoulder whispered into Mayra's ears with a voice that sounded like a melody.

The devil on her left shoulder just had to say something in reply, 'But you are stupid.' It complained with a croaky voice.

Mayra stomped her feet on the clean white tiles of the girls' washroom as she examined her reflection in the wide mirror with a scowl.

Her expression got softer, only to become furious a while later. She couldn't help but feel mixed sentiments about what she had recently witnessed.

How can you let somebody's opinion of your life hold any impact over you? Someone who hasn't lived a single second of your life? When you get to live all of it?

She tried to console herself but it didn't seem to work.

The sinking sensation died down only for a huge wave to wash over her again, drowning her soul into meaningless emotions.
