The Race

"Hello everybody!" Present Mic shouted, "It's time for U.A.'s sports festival! That time of the year where heroes compete in a ruthless grand battle!"

The people in the stadium cheered with excitement, "Now then! Let's meet our contenders!" Present Mic shouted, "First up... You know them! The rising stars who've brushed off a villain attack with their willpower! The first years of the Hero Course!"

Present Mic pointed to the entrance, "It's Class 1-A!" he shouted. As soon as Present Mic said their classroom name, they walked out of the entrance and onto the field.

The crowd cheered for them, *Everyone is excited to see us.* Mika thought as she looked around. Mika spotted Yuma in the crowd of people and Saburo watching her from the back; she smiled and continued walking with her classmates.

As Present Mic mentioned the other courses, Mika looked at her competition, *Some of these guys look tough.* she thought with worry, *I hope I can keep up with them.*

They looked at the podium and saw the R-Rated hero: Midnight, "Hello everyone, are you ready for the sports festival?" she asked, waving her hands; some were excited while others were infatuated. Mika looked at Midnight's attire, *That seems a bit too much.* she thought.

Midnight made a whipping noise with her flogger style whip, regaining Mika's attention, "Silence." she said. Midnight looked at the crowd of students, "It's time for our introductory speech." she continued.

Midnight pointed to Katsuki, "The student representative this year will be Katsuki Bakugo from Class 1-A!" she said. Mika looked at the podium as Katsuki walked towards the microphone, "I have a bad feeling about this." she said with worry; Koji and Mezo nodded in agreement.

Mika continued watching the podium as Katsuki got close to the microphone, "Make no mistake on this... I'm gonna win." he said.

The others were angry and booing at him, but everyone in Class 1-A was dumbfounded, "Damn it... I knew something like this would happen." Mika mumbled to herself.

Tenya looked at Katsuki with hand gestures, "Why say something like that Bakugo!" he shouted, "Have you no dignity!" Katsuki walked down the steps of the podium, "It doesn't matter... you're all going to be my stepping stones for the tournament." he said as he made a thumbs down.

The others were furious at him and Class 1-A, *Well... we're fucked.* Mika thought. "Settle down, everyone!" Midnight shouted.

They calmed down and looked at Midnight, "Now then with no delay, let's get this first event started." she said, "These are the qualifiers; in this stage, we send most people home crying they didn't do well."

Midnight pointed to the screen, "The event for this year is this!" she shouted as the words 'Obstacle Course Race' showed on the board; Mika tilted her head, "An obstacle course." she said lowly.

"It's a race between all classes." Midnight explained, "The course is a four kilometer lap around the stadium. Our school preaches freedom, and as long as you don't go off the course, anything is fair game."

Mika had her hand on her chin, *I'm not sure if I can fly through the course.* she thought, *If I can, then people will probably think I'm cheating. So, the best thing to do is not use my wings too often.*

(Time Skip)

As everyone got to the starting line, Mika noticed the tunnel was small and there were many people, *This tunnel is pretty small.* she thought, *I wonder...*

Mika nodded to herself and faced the tunnel, "Is everyone ready?" Midnight asked. The crowd shouted in glee, "Racers, to your positions." Midnight said, "On your marks... Get set... Go!"

They sprinted towards the tunnel; Mika jumped towards the walls and activated one of her frog traits. As Mika got on the wall, she looked at the others on the ground and saw them pushing each other out of the way.

Mika nodded and crawled on the walls, *Just as I thought. People are too focused about wanting to be in first place that something like this could happen.* she thought, *I need to stick to the walls and jump to the front.*

Mika noticed the wall got colder; she jumped off it as it got covered in ice. Mika looked at the exit and noticed Shoto creating an ice path under his feet, "So that's how you'll play." she said.

Falcon wings came out of Mika's back, "Then... no more playing nice." she continued as she flew towards the opening. Mika looked around and saw Katsuki and some people jump over the ice, but others like Izuku were trying to walk on the ice.

When Mika looked forward, she stopped and her eyes widened as she saw a lot of zero-point robots in front of her, "Every obstacle course needs obstacles!" Present Mic shouted, "This is the first barrier: Robo-Inferno!"

Mika got worried, "How am I supposed to get past them?" she asked herself. Mika noticed Shoto using his ice Quirk; as the zero-point robot reached for him, he made a hand gesture and froze a few of the zero point robots.

Mika was shocked and stared at Shoto as he ran forward, "I knew his power was worthy for recommendation... but that's too much." she said. Mika noticed the robots Shoto froze were breaking into pieces, "I must fly over them." she said.

Mika flew higher above the robots, "If there's a chance to use my wings, this is the best opportunity." she continued. Mika landed on the robot and used its falling body as a slide; she jumped off the robot at the right moment.

As a few smaller robots approached Mika, she deactivated her wings and used her elephant's strength trait. Mika punched the robots in front of her hard, making them break into pieces.

There were a few ahead of Mika, but she was satisfied, "I got past the first barrier. It's time to get to the second one." she said as she activated her cheetah's speed trait and started sprinting.

(Time Skip)

When Mika saw the second barrier, she slowed down; she looked down and saw nothing but darkness at the bottom. "Think the first barrier was easy!" Present Mic shouted, "How about the second one! If you fall, you're out! You got to make it across if you want to make it! This is the Fall!"

Mika looked around, "I have to make it across, huh?" she said. Mika saw some people grab the ropes connected to the platforms and fall into the dark abyss while others walk on it like a tightrope.

Mika grinned, "They didn't say how to make it across." she said as she activated her kangaroo's jumping ability. Mika stepped back and looked forward; she sprinted and jumped in the air. Mika landed on a platform and smiled, "With my kangaroo abilities, I can handle this with ease." she said.

Mika continued jumping on one platform to another with ease as she was getting closer to the end. When Mika was in the air, she noticed a girl with pink hair next to her using her support items to go from one place to another.

As Mika was still looking at the girl with pink hair, she lost her footing on the small platform and nearly fell, but she was quick to catch herself as a monkey tail came from her back end and clenched on the rope.

Mika looked at the dark area below the ropes and panicked a bit. Mika took a few deep breaths before she grabbed the rope and got on the top part of the rope.

Mika slowly crawled on the rope with her tail still holding the rope, "That was a quick save from Class 1-A's secretary, Mika Lyoko!" Present Mic shouted.

"Lyoko used her smarts to catch herself with her Quirk." Mika was surprised to hear Mr. Aizawa's voice, "However... she should pay attention to herself than her opponents."

Mika looked forward and nodded; she got to the final platform and sprinted with her cheetah's speed ability towards the last barrier.

(Time Skip)

Mika reached the last area and saw a few people were ahead of her, from Shoto and Katsuki from a farther direction to Fumikage and Eijiro in the back. Before Mika took a step forward, someone stepped on a small circle in the field, creating an explosion with pink smoke.

Mika was shocked and looked at the small circles, "Some of them have reached the last barrier!" Present Mic shouted, "The last barrier is a Minefield! One quick glance and you can see where the mines are! Keep your eyes open and watch your steps!"

Mika closed her eyes; as she opened her eyes, they were dark green with a yellow 'x' in the center. As Mika looked at the ground, she saw the mines in the ground, *There's too many for me to count.* she thought as she closed her eyes.

Mika took a deep breath and exhaled; she opened her eyes and walked on the gaps between the small circles. As Mika continued walking, she got worried, *I'd love to go faster, but in this case... this is the best thing to do.* she thought.

Mika looked behind her and saw Izuku digging a hole, *Whatever the hell he's planning, I'm not liking it.* she thought as she continued walking through the minefield. After some time, Mika was halfway through the minefield, "I'm getting close to the finish line." she said lowly.

Mika heard a loud explosion behind her; when she looked up, she saw Izuku flying in the air with a robot part like a sled, "So that was his plan." she said to herself as she continued walking through the field in a quick pace.

As Mika got near the end of the minefield, she saw Izuku slam the robot part on the ground. Another explosion went off near Katsuki and Shoto, shocking Mika, "Is he crazy!" she shouted.

Mika saw Izuku getting closer to the finish line; she continued walking. "The first person back at the stadium is Izuku Midoriya!" Present Mic shouted. Mika could hear the crowd cheering as he named other people who reached the finish line.

As Mika got out of the minefield, she sprinted with her cheetah's speed trait instantly and entered the field, "In tenth place is Mika Lyoko!" Present Mic shouted; the crowd was cheering, and she saw her parents in tears of joy.

Mika smiled, "Hey Lyoko." she turned around and saw Izuku waving to her. Mika smiled and walked towards Izuku, "Hey Midoriya." she said. Mika held her hand out to Izuku, "Congrats on winning first place." she continued. Izuku smiled and shook Mika's hand, "T-Thanks." he said.
