"What are you saying, that they picked him instead of me?" angered Jesse.
"We all knew it was going to happen someday, so you better get used to it buddy," said Haskel smiling.
"Whatever," Jesse storming out of the cafeteria.
The principal told Peter to go back to his seat while he leads the elders out to there vehicles.
"Whoa dude, that is an honor," smiled Haskel.
"I know, this is amazing, this is unreal, I don't know what to say," said Peter.
So they finished eating and the bell rang for them to go to the bus stop. They all went to the bus stop and waited. Jesse was starring at Peter the whole time they were waiting on the bus. "You'll get yours." Whispered Jesse. The bus arrived and all the kids got on the bus and went home.
The bus stopped at the edge of Walker's driveway and Peter was the last one-off. He stepped off the bus and started running towards the house to tell Eagle Bear what happened.
He ran inside and found Eagle Bear sitting on the couch reading a book.
"Eagle Bear, you won't believe what happened?" said Peter.
"Something good I hope, by that medicine bag around your neck it must have been something good," smiled Eagle Bear.
"You noticed, it was pretty cool, the elders came to school and picked me, but I think I may have made an enemy," said Peter.
"That is great, I'll be right back," said Eagle Bear.
Eagle Bear went to the barn and grabbed a hand drum and a stick and walked back to the house.
"Here these are mine, I want you to have them, I know you'll use them," said Eagle Bear.
"Oh wow thank you," said Peter.
Eagle Bear just smiled.
Peter Wolf was so excited he went outside and sat on the porch and started to sing his songs. Eagle Bear was sitting there smiling and listening he was amazed he already had a song and just started singing. Eagle Bear got up and walked out.
"You already had a song?" asked Eagle Bear.
"Yeah, I have a few songs that I made up I just needed something to play so I could sing them," said Peter.
"Amazing, come on," said Eagle Bear walking to the barn.
Peter stood up and watched Eagle Bear walk to the barn, and saw Eagle Bear come out on his horse. So Peter walked to the fence and jumped over, the wild horse walked up to Peter and nudged him, Peter smiled and petted him and jumped on the horse, the horse backed up to the fence and started to run and jumped over the fence. Eagle Bear was waiting when he caught up with him they both rode to the spot where Peter met the wolf pup and the adult wolf. They let the horses roam while they sat down on a log.
"Play something and we'll both sing," said Eagle Bear.
"Okay," said Peter with a smile.
So Peter started to play and they started singing, Eagle Bear would pause and listen to Peter sing then he would join back in. The birds landed on the tree branches and a few wolves started to come out they sat down around them like they were listening to them sing. When they were finished all the animals left.
"Wow did you see all that," said Peter.
"Yes, they were all listening to us sing and mother nature was listening as well," smiled Eagle Bear.
"That was pretty cool," said Peter.
"Well we better get back to the house, wouldn't want to worry anybody while we're gone," said Eagle Bear.
So they both got on their horses and rode back to the house. As they were riding up to the house Walkers pick up was pulling up into the driveway.
"Just in time," smiled Eagle Bear riding into the barn. Peter rode up to the fence and got off and opened the gate and the horse walked inside and gave him an apple.
"Hey how was the ride?" smiled Walker.
"It was good," said Peter.
Eagle Bear came out of the barn and walking up to the house.
"I see you've guys have been playing together," smiled Walker.
"Yes it was so cool," said Peter going inside the house.
"I can't wait to hear everything that happened today at school honey," said Karen.
So they all walked inside, Karen started fixing supper. Walker sat down at the table.
"Can I tell you now?" asked Peter with excitement.
"Okay," said Walker.
"Okay, we were in the cafeteria eating and then next thing you know everybody starts standing up. So we all stood up, the principal and the elders are there also. Greeting me and Jesse back home, the elders spoke in Lakota. I heard and understood what they were saying. They chose me to sit and be among them, they gave me a medicine bag. But I also made an enemy as well," said Peter.
"You did?" asked Walker.
"Yes I did, he's mad at me that they didn't pick him and he didn't understand what they were saying, at least he does not know where I live," said Peter.
"He must be really angry then, should we be worried?" asked Karen.
"I don't know mom, Haskel says he's all talk and no show, but I do think he'll try to pick a fight," said Peter.
"Well if he does you just walk away, and if he keeps following you walk into the principal's office and he won't follow you in," said Walker.
"What if I do and he's waiting for me ready to jump me," said Peter.
"Just stay in the office until he leaves," said Walker.
"Okay I will," said Peter.
Karen brought the food to the table and they all started eating and having a conversation at the table. When finished they all cleaned up and went to bed.
