Chapter 15

They followed Peter out to the barn.

"Whoa, look at that pony," said Haskel.

"Yeah, that is Eagle Bear's horse, isn't he beautiful," said Peter.

"Yes he is," said Martha.

"Wow, just wow," said Haskel.

"Come on, I want to show you my horse, he's a wild mustang," said Peter.

"A wild mustang, you mean he is still wild, you haven't broken him in yet?" asked Haskel.

"Don't need to, he knows me now, we are one with each other," said Peter.

"Wow, he does not try to buck you off?" asked Martha.

"No, he does not, him and I go everywhere together, he'll even jump this fence when we ride up close to the mountains," said Peter.

"Dude, that is so cool man," said Haskel.

"Yeah it is," said Peter jumping in the fence.

"We should go riding," said Haskel.

"We do have extra horses in the barn, and then this brown and white paint horse in here, I'll go in the barn with you Haskel and you can pick out a horse, except Eagle Bear's horse, that is his horse," said Peter.

"Okay, not a problem," said Haskel.

"Martha, this brown and white paint you can ride, she's very sweet and nice," said Peter walking the horse up to the fence so Martha can get acquainted with the pony.

"Thank you," said Martha climbing over the fence and petting the horse.

"Come on Haskel, follow me to the barn," said Peter.

So they went inside the barn.

"Ooh, I want that one, he kind of looks like that horse on Dances With Wolves, the one where the blue coat rides," said Haskel.

"Yeah he does look like that horse," said Peter.

"Well," said Haskell.

"Don't tell me, get on him, and I'll open the gate," said Peter.

Haskel smiled and got in the stall and jumped on the pony bareback. Peter opened the stall door and Haskel trotted the horse out of the barn towards the fence.

"Martha looks this horse, isn't he amazing," said Haskel.

"Oh Haskel, he looks just like that horse on Dances With Wolves.

"Okay Martha get on your horse, and I'll open the gate for you," said Peter.

"Okay," Martha jumping on the horse bareback.

Peter opened the gate and Martha walked the horse out. Peter jumped on the wild mustang and walked it out and closed the gate behind him.

"Alright let's go," said Peter leading the way.

They all followed Peter into the woods towards the mountains.

"Wow, this feels like taking a step back in time," said Haskel.

"I know, I'm soaking it all in," said Martha.

"Whoa, Peter is that a tipi back in there," said Haskel.

"Yes it is, that is where Eagle Bear comes and spends time alone," said Peter.

"Wow," said Martha.

They continued to ride until they came across a small stream, and behind that stream were tall mountains, there was also a hiking trail on the mountain as well, you can go by foot or horseback or mules. They stopped and got off the horses and let them roam for a little bit before they had to go back up to the house.

"This spot is amazing," said Martha looking up towards the mountains.

"This is pretty cool, look how clear the water is, you can see the pebbles below," said Haskel putting his hand in the stream.

"Yeah, I found this spot when I first arrived here, I sat down on this log right here, and started listening, dreaming you could say, then I saw a wolf pup come out of those bushes over there, then the adult wolf comes out also, she was very beautiful," said Peter.

"Really, wow, getting in touch with your inner native," smiled Haskel.

"Yeah I guess," chuckled Peter.

"Don't you get scared out here," said Martha.

"Na, there's nothing really to be afraid of, except maybe mountain lions, but other than that, its pretty safe," said Peter.

"Cool," said Haskel.

Then they heard a voice in the distance.

"I think your mom is back, your dad is hollering for us," said Martha.

"Yeah she must be," said Peter.

They all jumped on their horses and rode out galloping up towards the house. When they arrived, Peter unlocked the gate and the other led there horses inside, Peter's horse automatically walks in. Then Haskel and Martha jumped off and ran out, just in case the wild mustang tried to do anything serious.

"Come on, supper is on," said Walker.

They walked into the house and sat at the table. They started eating and having conversations. Then it was getting dark and they went up to Peters's room and started talking some more until Karen walks up there to tell them it was time for bed.

"Alright guys, its time for bed, it's getting late," said Karen.

"Okay mom, hey mom is it okay if I take them on the horse trail to the cave?" asked Peter.

"I don't know," worried Karen.

"Mom we will be very careful I promise, you can trust me right," said Peter.

"Well I am not too thrilled about it, but I guess you can take them, please be very careful," said Karen.

"We will mom I promise," said Peter.

"Good, now get some sleep," said Karen leaving his room.

"This is going to be great," said Haskel getting inside his sleeping bag on the floor.

"Yeah, more exploring," said Martha.

"Yeah it's going to be great, well goodnight guys, I'll see you both in the morning," said Peter.
