The Only Witness

"You're gonna leave." he stated. Lanie felt pain in her heart. That one sentence stabbed her heart. Alvarez suddenly stood up after he heard what Tyler said.

"You said you're leaving after you finish your mission, right? I am afraid that the real Tyler Lancaster you are wanting to know is connected to your mission." he said. Lanie froze for a moment. She is still processing what he said.

"Wait. You're leaving, Lanie?" Alvarez asked. No one answered him. Lanie and Tyler remained staring at each other like it was a contest.

"Don't act like you don't remember what we talked about in the orphanage. I'm sure by now, you know what I mean." Tyler said. "I guess, that was the reason why you aren't going home to me. Because of my family name. Because I am a Gerpacio." he continued. Alvarez cleared his throat and looked away.

"So, he knew?" Lanie said and looked at Alvarez.
