Chapter 56

"What is the big deal with this Golsend crown anyway, Forest didn't my mother tell you anything?" Crystal asked. He got quiet for a while and said, "the only thing your mother said about the crown itself is that she wished the responsibility wasn't yours," Forest replied.

Crystal looked at Forest and asked, "what do you mean?" Forest took his time before answering, he knew his answer wasn't going to be good news to Crystal.

"The truth of the matter is, your great grandmother took the Golsend crown and all of its secrets to the grave. As far as your mother knew the crown's real power was always kept secret. Your grandmother never saw the realm's gate open so it was believed to be a myth and in a fire, all the knowledge was destroyed," Forest replied.

"How did I end up with the crown Forest?" Crystal asked.

"As far as I know your grandmother never had any children but what no one knew was that your grandmother had a sister that was married to the king of Avalon. She had several children your mother being the second princess. As to why you got the power of the crown I do not know. When the kingdom of Golsend fell all its crowns secrets fell with it," Forest replied.

"That's when Thunder began with the storms?" Crystal asked.

"Yes, he followed the order of the king of Borus. His task was to keep intruders out by all means. When you were born there was a tiny light in your eyes. Your mother knew that meant out of all of Avalon's royals you were the chosen one to bear the weight of the Golsend crown," Forest replied.

"Did my mother say anything else?" Crystal asked.

"Only that Avalon's crown was now closely connected to the elves. As far as she knew it happened because the royal family in Avalon was originally descendants from the elves. She hoped that you would awaken as an elve and that you could use your power as a half-elven maiden to learn to control the Golsend crown's power and that you need to ask the elves for help if your powers awaken," Forest replied.

"How does Prince Leon and Furry fall into this arrangement did mother say?" Crystal asked.

"Yes, she said that you would need to be carefull there are those that can not be trusted with the secrets of the elves and that if the time comes to make a decision you should consult with the elves first since they are the once who agreed to help you. That's if they decided to help you but be carefull and that she loves you no matter what happens," Forest said.

Crystal looked at the elve elder and was about to ask him when he replied, "that is a question for another time, right now its time to start with your training," the elve elder said.

Elas called Crystal over and said, "We elves are closely connected to all of natures elements from the ocean to the fiery volcano. Today we will see what kind of elve you are going to be." He took out a blindfold and said, "where we are going is a secret location and only after you earned our trust will we share our knowledge of this location with you," Elas said as he blindfolded Crystal.

Crystal felt nervous as let Elas place the blindfold over her eyes. She was even more nervous during the trip because she didn't know what to expect. When they arrived at there destination Elas took off the blindfold.

She looked around and saw she was in a room where there was a pure white stone in the centre of the room. Crystal looked at Elas who finally spoke, "touch the stone if it glows the colours will tell us what your abilities are."

Crystal walked towards the stone and placed her hand on the stone. It began to glow silver followed by gold green and the last colour was purple. Crystal took her hand off the stone and looked at Elas who seemed to be in shock for a second.

"You are a powerful elve, Crystal," he said.

Crystal looked at the stone one more time and asked, "what does it mean Elas?" Crystal asked.

"Crystal the silver means you are a rider but more than that you can communicate with multiple creatures. This is a rare skill indeed as it means you can also borrow their power and help as long as you are present others can understand the creatures," Elas said.

"Gold is the colour of royalty and it means you can use light in all of its forms," Kali said.

"Green means you can use all of the elements connected to nature itself. Purple means you have the magic element but we will go into the what each skill is as you train," Elas said.

Crystal took a deep breath and asked, "that sounds like I might be a powerful elven maiden," Crystal said. "You are one of the rare few that is so powerful and you will learn to use and control all of your power," Elas said as he stood up from the ground and covered Crystal's eyes once more.

When they arrived back at the palace Elas took off the blindfold and told Crystal to sit down. "I will see you in the morning but do me a favour and just spend the afternoon listening to the forest. Tomorrow I want to know what it said," Elas said as he and the elven maidens left the palace.

Crystal was puzzled why was Elas telling her to listen to what the forest was telling her but she was determined to try. She lay down on the grown closed her eyes and listened to the voice of the forest.

The first thing she heard was the birds and the crickets but the more she listened the more she hears until finally, she heard a soft whisper in the wind. It was a female voice singing in a language she didn't understand but when she listened again she heard a powerful voice at the centre of the forest.

Crystal concentrated on this voice and found that she could now see this person in front of what seemed like a really powerful stone.

"It's been almost 400 years since I last saw the Golsend crown and its the first time that she is a half-elven maiden. You are a really powerful young lady, why do you want the elves to help?" the voice asked.

"There is no one except me and my team. I am alone and do not know anything of the Golsend crown, its secrets are lost and trouble follows me where I go. I hope to learn to use my powers so that I can defend myself and protect those dear to me," Crystal answered.

"You speak of the wizard Eione, do you not?" the voice asked. "Yes, he managed to find a way to control dragon's and force them to bond. How this happened I do not know but from looking at the situation I think it would not be wise to ignore the situation. He manages to chase away from several places with his allies. How long ill be able to stay here I do not know," Crystal replied.

"It does not matter, my child you are saving now," the voice said. "That's good to know I missed hearing the forest sounds to me its like music," Crystal replied. "You like the music I make," the voice asked. "Yes, it's beautiful" Crystal replied.

"Let me give you a gift, young one as a token of my gratitude," the voice said. "No it's me who needs to thank you, there are times that I have been so lost but I always seem to find my way when I listen to you," Crystal replied.

"Tell Elas, the centre is the key, he will know what it means," the voice replied.

"Thank you," Crystal replied but before she could say anything else she was forced to open her eyes. Crystal got up and looked around the palace, it was only then that she noticed it had gotten dark and Prince Leon and Furry is not back yet.

Crystal made decided to explore the palace and soon found out it had a big kitchen, several bedrooms, a dining hall and finally there was a bathroom. Crystal noticed that in the dining hall was a place set for one person to eat and as she sat down and began to eat.

Later that evening before Crystal went to bed she checked if everyone on her team was sleeping but as she was getting into bed she had this feeling that something was wrong. She got back up and took another look around the palace but she didn't see anything wrong but when she saw Starmist standing outside her stable she knew she was right.

"Starmist is there anything wrong?" Crystal asked but Starmist remained quiet. Crystal closed her eyes and focused on the voice of the forest but the voice was different. A hand touched Crystal's shoulder and she tried to yell but the had kept her from screaming. Crystal looked to see that Elas has returned.

He showed Crystal to be quiet and took her into the palace. "Is everything okay, the forest feels different?" Crystal asked. He looked at her and said, "I know but I will explain what happened in the morning, right now you need to go to bed, tomorrow training starts and it will not be as easy as you think," Elas replied.
