Wake Up and Smile

Another day, another crisis. I just woke up from a seemingly weird dream, which I thought it was. Unfortunately, it wasn't, seeing there was still shards of glass from a few hours ago. I met Tippy Doorman and Duke Detain. Is this stay, in Lego City, going to get better, or what? This is going to be interesting.

So, I got up to get ready for my day ahead, today. I went to the bathroom and surprisingly there were the things I needed inside a bathroom. OBVIOUSLY, LIKE WHAT DID I EXPECT! Bruh. My mind is not working. I think I need to quickly freshen up to go out and get something to eat. I thought to myself.

I quickly then did my personal hygiene and dubbed my clothes on and took in my all new look. I had the same black eyes, red rosey lips, jet black hair tied up to a ponytail, and saw my clothes that they perfectly matched a black and black outfit of a shirt with a glittered heart imprint and a knee length skirt, collecting everything that I may need for my 'morning walk'. A knock came on my door.

"Sweetie, I hope you did not forget our walk today. I would love to show you around!" Lady Smith spoke out. GAH! Right. My tour with her I almost forgot!

"OMYLIFE! I'm sorry I almost forgot. Right, umm, be right there in a minute!" I scrambled for my things and took in my looks one more time and dashed towards my door and then slowed to a walk, taking a deep breath then slowly opened it with a seem to be smile.

"Ah! There you are, come, I'll show you around."

"Uh, mind if we could stop by the cafés to get something to drink and eat I just woke up and have nothing on me for a snack." I spoke bluntly, especially since I'm in an awkward position.

"Haha, of course! Wouldn't want you to walk around with an empty stomach." She sweetly smiled at me as I smiled back. We went downstairs and met up with Tippy again.

"How was your sleep miss Florence and Lady Smith? Hope it was interesting!"

"Hehe, let me guess you knew there was a burglary upstairs didn't you?" I hinted playfully. Didn't expect a poker face from him.

"YUP. And it almost gave me a heart attack and I almost hurt myself of falling off my bed!" He vented.

"Duke's voice was loud right?" I laughed lightly.

"Yes it was! Now, hope you both have a great day." He slightly smiled at us both.

"My sleep was interesting I'll give you that Tippy. Haha!" Lady Smith chuckled. We then waved a goodbye to Tippy as we resumed walking to our destination.

I saw lots of things in this busy street. Birds flying around, same old pesky insects police officers zooming right passed us, fire trucks reporting for duties, cafés being open, shops busy with everything they had and there's us finding easy ways around us. There were some eyes laid on me but I never caught on that I wasn't anything major...or was I?

Then we finally came across at a nearby café through this busy place or should I say City and we went in to order. Mrs. Smith bought us two coffees one for her and one for me.

"So, you heard a commotion last night?" I asked wanting a conversation, instead of being like sitting ducks.

"OH! yes, but I know Duke Detain is onto it. He always has and always will be." Lady Smith said, as she sipped her coffee cup.

"OH! OK. Did you hear that, it all happened in my room?" I asked.

"Yes, but didn't think much of it."

"Why dear, did you see something that was bothering you?" she asked concerned.

"Ah! It's nothing, I'm just shook up."

"Mm. If you say so." She replied kindly, not pushing it knowing there was something deeper than just a shook up child. So we just continued sipping our coco drinks in silence, until something just had to ruin it, eventually. I had to give myself a face-palm. WHY! I then heard a loud crash that revealed 2 robbers coming in to steal money from the cashier holding a pistol to the man's head.

"YO MISTER WHY NOT PICK ON SOMEONE YOUR OWN TYPE!"

"Oooo..." His partner mumbled underneath his breath.

"Shut your pretty mouth girl, mind your own business!"

"Um, I can't really focus on my business seeing you have an actual gun to a man's head!" I backfired back at him. He then let go of the man he held and took a few steps to me.

"Well, you're asking for it."

"I'd love to see you try. HAAGH!" I whipped my leg around towards him and went smack at his face and knocked him to the floor as his partner ran away. Surprisingly he didn't bring out much of the fight as he gave up easily. I then took a few sure steps toward him as his eyes were filled with fear.

"Please don't hurt me I was just following orders!"

"Well, then you should've known what was coming, you don't have to be a low life of a robber." I bit at him. I then pulled out my handy cap jump rope and tied him up, quickly putting him to the side and quickly cleaned up the place but renewing the glass windows were something I couldn't make up for. So, he laid there slumped on the ground.

"Thank you miss! Don't worry about the windows they are cheap actually but thanks to you my money are safely intact. Thank you very much!" the cashier of the café thanked me.

"Please don't. It's just a hobby of mine to do this I'm not actually a cop I'm just a loner. Really. Don't thank me I feel bad it's not my place to do this I just felt I needed to do something. It wasn't right of what he did just now. And I don't want to be famous just because of this I'm new here I don't know the rules, because back home at where I live in it's different there than here." I confessed.

"OK, but thank you again." He said in respect.

"You can actually be a great cop one day. Why not start now?" That voice again. I turned and I was right. Seemed that someone called him to come over a few minutes ago.

"I'm so sorry I shouldn't have done this in the first place."

"No, again, you did the right thing. It would be easier to join the force, though." He said, as he busied himself with his 'better' handcuffs instead of my jump rope. Hehe.

"I'd love to, but not right now. I can't." I said painfully as I gathered up my things and walked out not looking back at him or Lady Smith, who just kept sipping happily at her drink. It then bothered me. My parents weren't here to see it if I were to join. I need to find a way to connect with my other world. Even if it would make me sacrifice for it, unfortunately.

I walked and walked no one to talk to until, "How can I help you today, miss?" Harl Hubbs! I loved that innocent look in his face, in tight situations, even though people would be weirded out by him but still, it was just too adorable! He was always there to help. Well, at least there is a man who understands everyone in an extroverted way.

"Hi! The name's Florence Fox, what's yours?" I answered, I think abit too cheery. Hope he wouldn't notice.

"OH! The name's Harl Hubbs! Pleased to meet you! Wanna come with me for a walk in the park? I see you needed the extra space from that commotion back there." I was FANGIRLING inside me already but I have no idea how I still kept my composure. Taking a walk with Harl Hubbs would actually be an honour.

"Uh, sure why not! I'm not having a great day today anyways, so yeah." I fanned that 'incident' passed me.

"Want to talk about about it?" He asked concerned. HOW Many MORE PEOPLE ARE GOING TO BE CONCERNED FOR ME, no offence.

"I'm sorry if I can't tell you right now we have just met and this personal dilemma is hard to talk about with just anyone." I hesitantly replied.

"Oh, I see, trust issues right?" He said waiting for me to vent I guess.

"Yeah. If you don't mind?" I asked shyly.

"No, no, sure its fine, Florence. Take your time." He smiled kindly at me. I smiled slightly as we just took our walks mostly in silence but a comfortable one at least.

"Nice day isn't it?" He blurted out. What a way to make a conversation going. Haha.

"Haha, yeah it is."

"Haha." He chuckled adorably.

"Look, the city is greatful to have someone like you Harl. Just wanted to say that." I shrugged my shoulders as a gesture in a way of gratitude.

"AWW, thanks Florence you're a nice kid." Harl, flustered, I blushed faintly.

"Thanks, Harl." I smiled sweetly at him as I took in the most amazing view ever. The valleys were brightly colored, with a variety of different flowers that added radiance to the lush green grass unlike the valleys in my home world. Felt more magical here with birds chipping more and always than back home. Home. Home is where I am supposed to be. Mom dad, lily. Where are you? Tears crept into my black eyes, that Harl saw them and quickly took a napkin out for me to dry my tears with.

"Happy to help?" He said his usual thing but was more filled with compassion, even his eyes were filled of it, filled with questions.

"Thank you...Harl." I said thankfully. But I couldn't let him or anyone interfere with my problems. I have to face this alone. I have to.

"You OK now?" He asked, has he rubbed circles with his hand on my back to comfort me.

"I am, now." I spoke with reassurance.

"Come, why don't we go back to the café. Smith must be worried."

"Wait. How did you know I came with Smith to the café?" I asked, filled with suspicion as I crossed my arms together.

"Look, Duke was worried so while you were busy looking through the trees and flowers, he called me and told me to take care of you and wanted you to come back to the café safely." He explained, this innocent child.

"OH, well when you put it that way...sure let's go." I said, without a second thought, trying to hold back my running tears.

"Aight, let's go!" He exclaimed cheerily. I chuckled at his childish remarks, wiping away my tears.

When we headed back, Duke was still there with the two robbers still in his car playing with what looked like video games. Typical Duke.

"OH! Whew we were so worried, Florence." Duke spoke up, getting up from his chair. Noticing the newspaper on the café table out in the varanda, he must've read the news while waiting.

"I was with Harl, so, no worries." I humbly claimed with a slight chuckle.

"Alright, as long as you are safe." Duke replied, with his brown eyes filled with worry.

"Thank you for worrying for me, Duke." I responded, with a smile.

"It's fine miss. Thanks Harl." Duke slightly blushed, but quickly deflected andspoke to Harl.

"No sweat. I'm always happy to help out." Harl smiled.

We then laughed at his childish remark again.

"So, may we have a proper conversation with you, to know you better?" Duke asked.

"Sure, but shouldn't you bring those two robbers to jail?" I asked, quite worried, to think that he wouldn't do his job just because he would always worry for my safety.

"O yeah! Sure hold on a sec. Will be back here in a jiff!" Duke pompously exclaimed in a childish manner. In fact, the way I see it most of all these lego beings are all childish. But I love these types of childish behaviour.

"Sure, sure. Wouldn't want you to stray away from your job, haha!" I joked but really, I'm fine. No offence, but why can't anyone see that? Sometimes I wonder if people just say, 'O my, we were so worried!' when they just want to get close as best friends and then all of a sudden, they break your trust.

Duke then chuckled, and vroomed his white and blue streaked car to the police station, as Harl quickly put his stuff away and not come late to the dinner. I smiled at the thought though, that there are still people out there who care for your well being.

It's comforting to know that there may be some people out there who are just like you. Looking for answers trying to define who you are. Why would you need society's plan to try and define you, when you can find your own in brilliant ways.

Right now, am still deciding, of who I really am because my locket just glowed and willingly decided to open up the portal for me into another dimension. Lego City. Am I special? What's my purpose? Why did my father say that this 'portal' will keep me safe till it's given me the all clear? Who was that guy who attacked me? Where in the universe did he get this necklace? Still so many unanswered questions! At least, I hope there would be a sign that would hint to me that my parents are OK. I miss them.

Duke Detain's police car drove back to the cafe, with no one at the back seats anymore so he has come clean. I only heard him comeback but never paid much attention to him at all. I was deep within my train of thoughts, that I hadn't noticed him standing from afar, while Harl had came back within seconds after Duke.

"Darling they're back." Lady Smith said as her soothing words brought me back to earth, placing a hand on my shoulder, instead of being stuck in my head, most of the time.

"Huh?" I then came to. Turned around to see them three standing there, waiting for me to calm down, thinking it was from the incident recently, but they were wrong. What if they'd think I'm a spy when I am not? Worrying thoughts filled my head, when I knew they had to know some day.

"OH, I'm sorry, I...zoned out." I replied, breaking the dead silence that hung in the air.

"Um, you know you can tell us anything. We are here for you." Duke inquired, compassionately. I smiled, as I nodded in understanding.

"Can we take a seat now?" Harl asked changing the topic, as everyone started for their seats, Duke came over to my side quickly to pull the chair for me. I secretly gushed at this act, for it felt new due to the fact that hardly anyone had served a woman in this manner in our modern days. He also did the same for Lady Smith but she declined, saying that she had to head home for her to have her night of sleep. Of course we all understood and she left for her apartment and gave me her phone number, for me to call, in case I needed her.

"Keep her safe boys. Cheers!" She said as she started on her departure, and waved.

"Yes, of course Lady Smith." Harl replied, as he and Duke smiled at her and waved back.

As the commotion was still happening in front of me, especially both boys went to order their items, I could now observe both of them instantly. Duke Detain, wore his light blue almost-denim t-shirt with a silver like tongue of a tie and dark brown pants with light blue streaks. Quite the fashion, I must say. He must like to come to dinners with style, I suppose. If that is what boys are doing here, these days. As for Harl Hubbs, the helping hand, he came with still a few tools with him, maybe for emergencies, an orange t-shirt with a light brown leather jacket with shining black shoes. Duke Detain's jet black colored hair was combed out neatly but still held that afro aura, the one that I would always think about for it had made his appearance quite handsome in a soothing way, out of all the hectic days he would always come back in one peice. Onto Harl Hubbs, his ginger colored hair was combed, having a hair line, showing at the right side of his head, flipping most of his hair to the left and some left them the way it is.

"Well, why not start of telling us more about yourself?" Duke started off, as he sat down, clearly not planning this investigation, I guess.

"Well, isn't that quite rude to ask a girl in the middle of an outing?" I smirked playfully.

"Well, uh, I'm just quite interested in you, for you are the one who stood out to me out of a whole population you were the one and the first, to stop a robber and a bunch of stealers!" Duke spoke up, justifying his reason of talking more with me. Boy he is persistent.

"Yeah, Duke's right. That's why we want to know who you really are. Your bravery and character traits, almost resembles Freya McCloud's." Harl went on explaining more than what Detain had to offer.

"I know you want to know more information off of me, but I'm afraid I really can't tell you. Not even of where I'm from. Fortunately, all I can say about me is that my parents are police officers." I carefully replied to their question, as I pretended to scratch the back of my neck but actually tried to hide the locket from sight, as I fumbled.

"Am I finished here?" I asked abruptly as I stood up, really not wanting to talk right now. Harl understood as Duke hid his suspicions about me, but I felt the aura coming out from him. His fire burning inside him, of wanting to dig much more deeper than what met the eyes of him, from this girl today, standing infront of him. Who was ready to leave and head back to her apartment. Well seems like Harl felt that aura too.

"Wait, how about we start over? We haven't been nice..." Harl insisted glaring at Duke for not bring proper in this night out, "...in your first day outing here." I then sat back down nodding, clearly wanting to start in good terms. Thank goodness that Harl confronted Duke for me. Harl smiled a small content smile as Duke sighed but held back a snarky remark, frowning knowing what a loud mouth he was...at times.

"So...how old are you?" Harl asked, quite uncertain if that was how you could start it off. I laughed at his attempt as I answered anyway.

"Haha, well, I am 19...why?" I asked lofting an eyebrow.

"Uh, just some information you know? haha!" Harl laughed embarrassedly.

I rolled my eyes playfully at that. Duke and Harl asked their questions and I answered back. We then talked the night away. They soon got to know me, only an inch and we haven't known the time until the shop keeper announced it to us, for us to go.

"OH shoot the time!" I exclaimed, and packed up quite in a rush.

"OH, here I'll do that for you." Duke Detain offered, quite nicely.

"Ah! O my, are you sure? I can manage, really."

"OH, no it's fine, I wanted to make up for what I did so rudely in front of you. It...It's just...I still have so many questions!" He confessed desperately.

"I know Duke, me too. In the other hand you have to wait for me to tell you, and the others at the right time, Mr. Detain, Hubbs." I replied nodding to both of them, but then added, "Please don't think I am any murder or spy of some sort. I promise you. After this is all over I'll be free again, and tell you every single detail."

"I...I'll try to hold on to that. Hope to know you better." He said as he sighed in surrender and pushed open the door to give way for me and for Harl and so he went out last and closed the doors behind us.

"Hey, wanna take a ride with me to get to your apartment? It is getting abit late." Duke asked, as he looked at his black watch on his left hand.

"BYE guys happy to be a friend. Thanks for the dinner!" Harl, waved and walked back home.

We then walked over to the all famous police car and climbed aboard and took me back to my apartment.

Home sweet home.
